Abstract

A non-contact power reception apparatus is provided, in which a power reception coil for a charging system and a loop antenna for an electronic settlement system are mounted on a battery pack and a cover case of a portable terminal such that the power reception coil is arranged in the center thereof and the loop antenna is disposed outside the power reception coil, so that a mode of receiving a wireless power signal and a mode of transmitting and receiving data are selectively performed, thereby preventing interference from harmonic components and enabling non-contact charging and electronic settlement using a single portable terminal. A jig for fabricating a core to be mounted to the non-contact power reception apparatus is provided.

Claims (59)

1. A portable electronic device, comprising:

a power reception coil configured to receive a wireless power signal and provide the wireless power signal to a power rectification unit of the portable electronic device; and

a communication antenna capable of transmitting or receiving a wireless data signal and provide the wireless data signal to a data processor of the portable electronic device, wherein the power reception coil and the communication antenna are positioned between a battery cell of the portable electronic device and one side of the portable electronic device.

2. The portable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the communication antenna is a loop antenna that loops outside the power reception coil.

3. The portable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the power reception coil and the communication antenna are arranged on a common module within the portable electronic device.

4. The portable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the power reception coil and the communication antenna are formed on the same side of a cover case of the portable electronic device.

5. The portable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the communication antenna is used for an electronic payment based on the wireless data signal, the wireless data signal including information related to the electronic payment.

6. The portable electronic device of claim 1 ,

shielding material to protect electrical circuit elements in the portable electronic device from electromagnetic waves, wherein the power reception coil and the communication antenna are positioned on one side of the battery cell of the portable electronic device, and wherein the shielding material is disposed between at least the power reception coil and the battery cell.

7. The portable electronic device of claim 6 , wherein the power reception coil and the communication antenna are positioned on different pieces of the shielding material.

8. The portable electronic device of claim 1 , further comprising:

the data processor configured to process the wireless data signal received by the communication antenna; and

the power rectification unit configured to rectify the wireless power signal received by the power reception coil; and

a connector configured to couple the power reception coil to the power rectification unit and couple the communication antenna to the data processor.

9. The portable electronic device of claim 1 , further comprising:

the data processor configured to process the wireless data signal received by the communication antenna;

the power rectification unit configured to rectify the wireless power signal received by the power reception coil; and

a connection unit configured to couple the power reception coil with the power rectification unit and couple the communication antenna with the data processor.

10. The portable electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the power reception coil is fabricated to have a shape of both a circle and a rectangle.

11. A method, comprising:

receiving a wireless power signal via a power reception coil of a common module within a portable electronic device;

providing the wireless power signal to a power rectification unit of the portable electronic device; and

transmitting or receiving a wireless data signal via a communication antenna of the common module, the wireless data signal associated with a data processor of the portable electronic device, wherein the power reception coil and the communication antenna are positioned between a battery cell of the portable electronic device and one side of the portable electronic device.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the power reception coil of the common module and the communication antenna of the common module are coupled with the power rectification unit and the data processor, respectively, via a connector between the common module and the portable electronic device.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the connector includes corresponding connection modules for each of the power reception coil and the communication antenna.

14. The method of claim 11 , further comprising:

processing, in the data processor, the wireless data signal received or transmitted by the communication antenna of the common module; and

rectifying, in the power rectification unit, the wireless power signal received by the power reception coil of the common module.

15. The method of claim 11 , wherein the wireless data signal is used for an electronic payment and includes information related to the electronic payment.

16. A portable electronic device, comprising:

a power reception coil configured to receive a wireless power signal from a wireless power transmission apparatus; and

a communication antenna capable of transmitting or receiving a wireless data signal;

a battery cell, wherein the power reception coil and the communication antenna are positioned in a plane between the battery cell and one side of the portable electronic device; and

shielding material to protect electrical circuit elements in the portable electronic device from electromagnetic waves, wherein the shielding material is disposed between at least the power reception coil and the battery cell.

17. The portable electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the power reception coil and the communication antenna are positioned on different pieces of the shielding material.

18. The portable electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the communication antenna is a loop antenna that loops outside the power reception coil.

19. The portable electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the power reception coil and the communication antenna are arranged on a common module within the portable electronic device.

20. The portable electronic device of claim 19 , wherein the common module is formed in a cover case of the portable electronic device.

21. The portable electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the communication antenna is used for an electronic payment based on the wireless data signal, the wireless data signal including information related to the electronic payment.

22. The portable electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the power reception coil has a circular shape and the communication antenna has a rounded rectangular shape.

23. The portable electronic device of claim 16 , wherein the power reception coil is a first wire forming a secondary coil and wherein the communication antenna is a second wire forming a loop antenna.

24. The portable electronic device of claim 16 , further comprising:

a data processor configured to process the wireless data signal received by the communication antenna;

a power rectification unit configured to rectify the wireless power signal received by the power reception coil; and

a connector configured to couple the power reception coil with the power rectification unit and couple the communication antenna with the data processor.

25. The portable electronic device of claim 24 , wherein the connector includes corresponding connection modules for each of the power reception coil and the communication antenna.

26. The portable electronic device of claim 25 , wherein the connector is positioned at a common connection point at a same portion of a common module that includes both the power reception coil and the communication antenna.

27. A portable electronic device, comprising:

a power reception coil configured to receive a wireless power signal from a power transmission coil of a non-contact power transmission apparatus; and

a communication antenna capable of transmitting or receiving a wireless data signal, wherein the communication antenna is a loop antenna that loops outside the power reception coil;

a data processor configured to process the wireless data signal received by the communication antenna;

a power rectification unit configured to rectify the wireless power signal received by the power reception coil;

a connector configured to couple the power reception coil with the power rectification unit and couple the communication antenna with the data processor;

a battery pack, wherein the power reception coil and the communication antenna are positioned in parallel on one side of the battery pack in a plane between the battery pack and one side of a housing of the portable electronic device; and

shielding material to protect electrical circuit elements in the portable electronic device from electromagnetic waves, wherein the power reception coil and the communication antenna are positioned on different pieces of the shielding material.

28. The portable electronic device of claim 27 , further comprising:

a common module that includes the power reception coil and the communication antenna.

29. The portable electronic device of claim 27 , wherein the power reception coil and the communication antenna are formed on the same side of a cover case of the portable electronic device.

30. The portable electronic device of claim 27 , wherein the power reception coil has a circular shape and the communication antenna has a rounded rectangular shape.
