Abstract

The present disclosure provides a computer-implemented method for encoding video. The method includes coding one or more first flags in a sequence parameter set (SPS) of a bitstream, and coding at least one second flag in the SPS if one or more coding modes are enabled for a video sequence associated with the SPS. The one or more first flags indicate whether the one or more coding modes are enabled for the video sequence. The at least one second flag indicates whether a multi-level control is activated for the one or more coding modes.

Claims (24)

1. A method for decoding video, comprising:

receiving a bitstream;

determining whether a plurality of coding modes are enabled for a video sequence corresponding to the bitstream, based on a first plurality of sequence level flags respectively in the bitstream, wherein the plurality of coding modes comprise an affine motion compensation refined with optical flow; and

determining whether a plurality of picture level controlling flags are present in the bitstream, based on a second plurality of sequence level flags, respectively,

wherein the plurality of picture level controlling flags are used for enabling or disabling the plurality of coding modes, respectively,

wherein the first plurality of sequence level flags and second plurality of sequence level flag are present in a Sequence Parameter Set (SPS).

2. The method of claim 1 , comprising:

in response to one or more of the plurality of picture level controlling flags being present in the bitstream, enabling or disabling the plurality of coding modes for a target picture based on the one or more picture level controlling flags.

3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

decoding, in the bitstream, the one or more level controlling flag in a picture header associated with the target picture.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of coding modes further comprises at least one of a bi-directional optical flow (BDOF) mode or a decoder side motion vector refinement (DMVR) mode.

5. A method for encoding video, comprising:

signaling a first plurality of sequence level flags in a sequence parameter set (SPS) of a bitstream associated with a video sequence, the first plurality of sequence level flags respectively indicating whether a plurality of coding modes are enabled for the video sequence, wherein the plurality of coding modes comprises an affine motion compensation refined with optical flow;

signaling a second plurality of sequence level flags in the SPS, the second plurality of sequence level flags respectively indicating whether a plurality of picture level controlling flags are present in the bitstream; and

determining whether to signal the plurality of picture level controlling flags, based on the second plurality of sequence level flags respectively,

wherein when one or more of the plurality of the plurality of picture level controlling flags are signaled, a target picture is encoded with one or more of the coding modes based on values of the one or more of the plurality of picture level controlling flags.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the plurality of picture level controlling flags are signaled in a picture header associated with the target picture.

7. The method of claim 5 , wherein the plurality of coding modes further comprises at least one of a bi-directional optical flow (BDOF) mode or a decoder side motion vector refinement (DMVR) mode.

8. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a bitstream associated with a video sequence, wherein the bitstream comprises a Sequence Parameter Set (SPS) comprising:

a first plurality of sequence level flags respectively indicating whether a plurality of coding mode are enabled for the video sequence, wherein the plurality of coding modes comprises an affine motion compensation refined with optical flow; and

a second plurality sequence level flags respectively indicating whether a plurality of picture level controlling flags are present in the bitstream,

wherein the plurality of picture level controlling flags is used for enabling or disabling the plurality of coding modes for a target picture respectively.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the plurality of picture level controlling flags are present in a picture header associated with the target picture.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 8 , wherein the plurality of coding modes further comprises at least one of a bi-directional optical flow (BDOF) mode or a decoder side motion vector refinement (DMVR) mode.
