Method and apparatus for a trusted localized peer-to-peer services marketplace
A peer-to-peer services marketplace is described. A search query is received from a service buyer. The query is parsed to identify parameters including a category of service wanted and a desired location. An available services database that includes service seller profiles is searched based on the parameters. The system communicates information to the buyer regarding service sellers that match the parameters, including the description of the service, contact information, the location of the service seller, and the location where the service is offered. A selection of one of the service seller sis received from the buyer, and availability information to the buyer is provided. The buyer requests an available time of the seller and that time is reserved to create a service appointment. The seller is notified of the appointment.
1. A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium that provides instructions that, if executed by a processor, will cause said processor to perform operations comprising:
receiving, from a potential service buyer, a plurality of search parameters that include a category of service wanted, a location where the service wanted is desired, a date in which the service wanted is desired, and a price that the potential service buyer is willing to spend for the service wanted;
searching an available services database based on the plurality of search parameters, wherein the available services database is populated with available services provided by a first plurality of service sellers, wherein each one of the first plurality of service sellers has a service seller profile that is associated with at least:
a description of a service that service seller offers,
contact information for that service seller,
a location where the service offered by the service seller is provided,
one or more reviews of the service seller,
one or more ratings determined by weighting the one or more reviews based on context of the one or more reviews and a total number of the one or more reviews;
availability of that service seller to provide the service that service seller offers, and
a price in which that service seller charges for the service;
displaying, to the potential service buyer, results of searching the available services database based on the plurality of search parameters, wherein the displayed results include information about a second plurality of service sellers that offer a service that match the plurality of search parameters, wherein a quantity of the second plurality of service sellers is less than a quantity of the first plurality of service sellers, wherein the displayed results includes, for each of the second plurality of service sellers that match the plurality of search parameters, at least the following:
the description of the service that service seller offers,
the contact information for that service seller,
the one or more ratings, and
the one or more reviews of the service seller;
receiving, from the potential service buyer, a selection of one of the second plurality of service sellers that match the plurality of search parameters;
providing, to the potential service buyer, information that indicates the availability of the selected service seller;
receiving, from the potential service buyer, a request for an available time of the selected service seller;
reserving the available time of the selected service seller in response to the request to create a service appointment; and
notifying the selected service seller of the service appointment.
2. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the displayed results further includes, for each of the second plurality of service sellers that match the plurality of search parameters:
an estimate of a price for the service offered by that service seller.
3. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein each service seller profile for each service seller is further associated with a completed background check.
4. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 3 , wherein the background check includes a sexual offender database check.
5. The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein the contact information for each service seller is verified as being accurate.
6. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 1 , wherein information about a first service seller of the second plurality of service sellers is displayed in a more prominent location in the displayed results compared to a second service seller of the second plurality of service sellers responsive to determining that the first service seller has paid to have their information displayed more prominently.
7. A method, comprising:
receiving, from a potential service buyer, a plurality of search parameters that include a category of service wanted, a location where the service wanted is desired, a date in which the service wanted is desired, and a price that the potential service buyer is willing to spend for the service wanted;
searching an available services database based on the plurality of search parameters, wherein the available services database is populated with available services provided by a first plurality of service sellers, wherein each one of the first plurality of service sellers has a service seller profile that is associated with at least:
a description of a service that service seller offers,
contact information for that service seller,
a location where the service offered by the service seller is provided,
one or more reviews of the service seller,
one or more ratings determined by weighting the one or more reviews based on context of the one or more reviews and a total number of the one or more reviews;
availability of that service seller to provide the service that service seller offers, and
a price in which that service seller charges for the service;
displaying, to the potential service buyer, results of searching the available services database based on the plurality of search parameters, wherein the displayed results include information about a second plurality of service sellers that offer a service that match the plurality of search parameters, wherein a quantity of the second plurality of service sellers is less than a quantity of the first plurality of service sellers, wherein the displayed results includes, for each of second plurality of service sellers that match the plurality of search parameters, at least:
the description of the service that service seller offers,
the contact information for that service seller,
the one or more ratings, and
the one or more reviews of the service seller;
receiving, from the potential service buyer, a selection of one of the second plurality of service sellers that match the plurality of search parameters;
providing, to the potential service buyer, information that indicates the availability of the selected service seller;
receiving, from the potential service buyer, a request for an available time of the selected service seller;
reserving the available time of the selected service seller in response to the request to create a service appointment; and
notifying the selected service seller of the service appointment.
8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the displayed results further includes, for each of the second plurality of service sellers that match the plurality of search parameters:
an estimate of a price for the service offered by that service seller.
9. The method of claim 7 , wherein each service seller profile for each service seller is further associated with a completed background check.
10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the background check includes a sexual offender database check.
11. The method of claim 7 , wherein the contact information for each service seller is verified as being accurate.
12. The method of claim 7 , wherein information about a first service seller of the second plurality of service sellers is displayed in a more prominent location in the displayed results compared to a second service seller of the second plurality of service sellers responsive to determining that the first service seller has paid to have their information displayed more prominently.
13. An apparatus, comprising;
a processor; and
a non-transitory machine-readable storage medium that provides instructions that, if executed by the processor, will cause said processor to perform operations comprising:
receiving, from a potential service buyer, a plurality of search parameters that include a category of service wanted, a location where the service wanted is desired, a date in which the service wanted is desired, and a price that the potential service buyer is willing to spend for the service wanted;
searching an available services database based on the plurality of search parameters, wherein the available services database is populated with available services provided by a first plurality of service sellers, wherein each one of the first plurality of service sellers has a service seller profile that is associated with at least:
a description of a service that service seller offers,
contact information for that service seller,
a location where the service offered by the service seller is provided,
one or more reviews of the service seller,

displaying, to the potential service buyer, results of searching the available services database based on the plurality of search parameters, wherein the displayed results include information about a second plurality of service sellers that offer a service that match the plurality of search parameters, wherein a quantity of the second plurality of service sellers is less than a quantity of the first plurality of service sellers, wherein the displayed results includes, for each of the second plurality of service sellers that match the plurality of search parameters, at least the following:
the description of the service that service seller offers,
the contact information for that service seller,
the one or more ratings, and
the one or more reviews of the service seller;
receiving, from the potential service buyer, a selection of one of the second plurality of service sellers that match the plurality of search parameters;
providing, to the potential service buyer, information that indicates the availability of the selected service seller;
receiving, from the potential service buyer, a request for an available time of the selected service seller;
reserving the available time of the selected service seller in response to the request to create a service appointment; and
notifying the selected service seller of the service appointment.
14. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein the displayed results further includes, for each of the second plurality of service sellers that match the plurality of search parameters, the following:
an estimate of a price for the service offered by that service seller.
15. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein each service seller profile for each service seller is further associated with a completed background check.
16. The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the background check includes a sexual offender database check.
17. The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the contact information for each service seller is verified as being accurate.
18. The apparatus of claim 13 , wherein information about a first service seller of the second plurality of service sellers is displayed in a more prominent location in the displayed results compared to a second service seller of the second plurality of service sellers responsive to determining that the first service seller has paid to have their information displayed more prominently.
