Abstract

A monitor support assembly includes a base designed to rest on an ambient floor surface. An upright frame structure is spaced forward to the rear of and extends vertically upward from the base. The frame structure includes first and second vertical members and a top frame member that extends horizontally between the first and second vertical members. A shroud assembly is mounted to the upright frame structure and includes a first central wall member and first and second additional wall members extending from the first and second lateral edges in the same direction. The first central wall member and the additional wall members form a receiving space. A mounting plate mountable to the rear surface of a displays screen is releasably supported by the upright frame structure within the receiving space. A depth dimension of the receiving space is sufficient to accommodate a display screen mounted via the mounting plate.

Claims (32)

1. A table assembly comprising:

at least first and second foot members;

a frame including a lower rail and a plurality of substantially straight upright frame members, the lower rail supported at the upper ends of the foot members, the upright frame members coupled to and extending upward from the lower rail and forming first and second elongated openings;

a substantially uniform thickness panel member having a front surface, a rear surface, an upper edge, a lower edge and first and second side edges that extend between the upper edge and the lower edge, first and second lateral portions of the panel member adjacent the first and second side edges received within the first and second openings, respectively, a middle portion of the panel member between the first and second lateral portions curved so that the front surface of the panel member defines a recessed space;

a support member supported by the upright frame members adjacent the front surface side of the panel member;

a flat panel display screen mounted to the support member;

at least one bracket supported by the upright frame members;

a tabletop member having a top surface, an undersurface and an edge that defines a tabletop shape, the bracket mounted to a rear portion of the tabletop; and

a table leg assembly spaced apart from the panel member and mounted to the underside of the tabletop member.

2. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein the support member is mounted to the upright frame members.

3. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein the first and second elongated openings include first and second elongated gaps.

4. The table assembly of claim 3 wherein the panel member extends through the gaps so that the first and second side edges of the panel member are exposed.

5. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein the panel member is at least somewhat flexible.

6. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein the panel member is formed of plastic.

7. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein the panel member is formed of metal.

8. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein a rear edge of the tabletop forms a central recess.

9. The table assembly of claim 8 wherein the rear edge of the tabletop is spaced from the front surface of the panel member.

10. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein the rear portion of the tabletop is located below the flat panel display screen.

11. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein the lower edge of the panel member is proximate the lower rail member.

12. The table assembly of claim 11 wherein the lower rail member has a curved shape that is similar to a curved shape of the lower edge of the panel member.

13. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein the recessed space is open upward and downward.

14. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein the panel member extends at least along the entire height of the upright frame members.

15. The table assembly of claim 1 further including a cover member including at least a first portion that has the same shape as the panel member, the cover member supported by the upright frame members immediately adjacent the rear surface of the panel member so as to conceal the rear surface of the panel member.

16. The table assembly of claim 15 wherein an upper edge of the panel member is exposed.

17. The table assembly of claim 15 wherein fabric covers the cover member.

18. The table assembly of claim 15 wherein the cover member is directly mounted to and supported by the upright frame members.

19. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein the at least one bracket is directly connected to at least one of the upright frame members.

20. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein the tabletop shape includes front, rear and first and second side edges where the front edge is shorter than the rear edge, and the side edges extend from the front edge to the rear edge and form obtuse angles with the front edge.

21. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein the leg assembly includes an elongated post and four arm members that extend laterally from a bottom end of the post, a top end of the post mounted to the undersurface of the tabletop member.

22. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein a space is formed between first and second of the upright frame members and wherein the rear surface of the panel member bows outward and rearward out of the space between the first and second upright frame members.

23. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein the support member is mounted to front surfaces of the upright frame members.

24. The table assembly of claim 1 wherein the support member and the flat panel display screen are located outside the recessed space.
