Abstract

An audiovisual conferencing system provides a centrally controlled system for managing and broadcasting the audiovisual data sent from a group of members using their own personal devices. In an exemplar embodiment, a moderator controls requests from various participant members to broadcast audio or video from their personal mobile device to the other group members. In various embodiments, the moderator has the capability to manage the member requests to broadcast social media or registered user profile information about the member or other textual or graphic information originating from or about the group member. In various embodiments, the audio and video broadcasts from group members, the member requests to broadcast and the set or queue of member requests to broadcast, which may be prioritized or otherwise organized by the moderator, are hosted in the cloud or Internet.

Claims (34)

1. A system for broadcasting selected audio/visual data, comprising:

a central communication processor and controller configured to receive one or more audio/visual broadcast requests from one or more mobile devices;

a queue in cooperation with the central communication processor and controller to place the one or more audio/visual broadcast requests in the queue by the central communication processor and controller and to select a selected audio/visual broadcast request from the queue by the central communication processor and controller, and wherein the one or more audio/visual broadcast requests are organized in a reception available status;

a communication module in cooperation with the central communication processor and controller to communicate with a selected mobile device selected from the one or more mobile devices in correspondence to the selected audio/visual broadcast request, and wherein the selected audio/visual data is communicated from the selected mobile device to the central communication processor and controller; and

a broadcast system in cooperation with the central communication processor and controller to broadcast the selected audio/visual data to a group of users.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein the selected audio/visual data comprises audio.

3. The system of claim 1 wherein the selected audio/visual data comprises video.

4. The system of claim 1 wherein the selected audio/visual data comprises text.

5. The system of claim 1 wherein the one or more mobile devices comprises a microphone.

6. The system of claim 1 wherein the one or more mobile devices comprises a camera.

7. The system of claim 1 wherein the system is also configurable to broadcast a selectable portion of user profile information of a group member to the group of users.

8. The system of claim 1 wherein the central communications processor and controller are controllable by a moderator.

9. The system of claim 1 wherein the broadcast system is controllable by a moderator.

10. The system of claim 1 wherein the selected audio/visual data is selectable by a moderator.

11. The system of claim 1 wherein the queue is an unordered set of the one or more audio/visual broadcast requests.

12. The system of claim 1 wherein the broadcast system is also configurable to provide a moderator a capability to control a broadcast of an audio stream from the one or more mobile device's microphone.

13. A method for broadcasting selected audio/visual data, comprising:

receiving one or more audio/visual broadcast requests on a central communication processor and controller;

placing the one or more audio/visual broadcast requests into a queue on the central communication processor and controller, wherein the one or more audio/visual broadcast requests are organized in a reception available status;

processing an automatic or manual selection of a selected audio/visual broadcast request from the queue;

receiving selected audio/visual data from a selected mobile device corresponding to the selected audio/visual broadcast request on the central communication processor and controller;

directing the selected audio/visual data to a broadcast system;

broadcasting the selected audio/visual data to a group of users.

14. The method of claim 13 wherein the selected audio/visual data comprises audio.

15. The method of claim 13 wherein the selected audio/visual data comprises video.

16. The method of claim 13 wherein the selected audio/visual data comprises text.

17. The method of claim 13 wherein the one or more mobile devices comprises a microphone.

18. The method of claim 17 wherein the broadcast system is also configurable to provide a moderator a capability to control a broadcast of an audio stream from the one or more group member's personal mobile device's microphone.

19. The method of claim 13 wherein the one or more mobile devices comprises a camera.

20. The method of claim 13 wherein the broadcast system is also configurable to broadcast a selectable portion of user profile information of a group member to the group of users.

21. The method of claim 13 wherein the central communications processor and controller are controllable by a moderator.

22. The method of claim 13 wherein the broadcast system is controllable by a moderator.

23. The method of claim 13 wherein the selection of the selected audio/visual broadcast request is controllable by a moderator.

24. The method of claim 13 wherein the queue is an unordered set of the one or more audio/visual broadcast requests.
