Abstract

A stowage bin assembly includes a bin bucket assembly having a bin bucket which includes at least one sidewall, the at least one sidewall including a notch and the at least one sidewall having an interior surface. The stowage bin assembly also includes at least one hinge assembly. The at least one hinge assembly includes a housing which is received in the notch, the housing having an interior surface, wherein the interior surface of the housing is substantially flush with the interior surface of the at least one sidewall when the housing of the at least one hinge assembly is received in the notch. The stowage bin assembly also includes a stowage bin door pivotably coupled to the bin bucket assembly via the at least one hinge assembly, the stowage bin door moveable between an open position and a closed position. Related components, assemblies, and devices are also provided.

Claims (37)

1. A stowage bin assembly, comprising:

a bin bucket assembly including:

a first sidewall having a first internal sidewall surface and a first external sidewall surface;

a second sidewall having a second internal sidewall surface and a second external sidewall surface, the second sidewall being spaced apart from the first sidewall in a longitudinal direction;

a lower wall;

a rear wall, wherein the first sidewall, the second sidewall, the lower wall, and the rear wall define a volume for receiving payload; and

a first notch extending through the first sidewall, the first notch having a transverse surface between the first internal sidewall surface and the first external sidewall surface;

a first hinge assembly received in the first notch, the first hinge assembly including:

a first housing having a first internal surface and a first external surface, the first external surface of the first housing being flush with the first external sidewall surface when the first hinge assembly is received in the first notch; and

a stowage bin door pivotably coupled to the bin bucket assembly via the first hinge assembly, the stowage bin door moveable between an open position and a closed position.

2. The stowage bin assembly of claim 1 , wherein the first hinge assembly further includes a first coupling structure that is fixedly coupled to the stowage bin door.

3. The stowage bin assembly of claim 1 wherein the first housing includes a pivot pin aperture which defines a pivot axis about which the stowage bin door pivotably moves between the open and closed positions.

4. The stowage bin assembly of claim 1 wherein the first notch includes a first edge and a second edge, the second edge having an arcuate shape.

5. The stowage bin assembly of claim 4 wherein the first sidewall includes a plurality of apertures, at least some of the plurality of apertures positioned proximate to the second edge.

6. The stowage bin assembly of claim 5 , further comprising:

a first external coupling plate that couples to the first external surface of the first housing.

7. The stowage bin assembly of claim 1 wherein the bin bucket assembly does not include a partition.

8. The stowage bin assembly of claim 1 wherein the bin bucket assembly includes a partition.

9. The stowage bin assembly of claim 8 , further comprising:

a second notch extending through the second sidewall.

10. The stowage bin assembly of claim 9 , further comprising:

a second hinge assembly positioned in the second notch, the second hinge assembly including a second housing.

11. A stowage bin assembly, comprising:

a bin bucket assembly including:

a first sidewall having a first sidewall external surface;

a second sidewall spaced apart from the first sidewall in a longitudinal direction;

a lower wall;

a rear wall, wherein the first sidewall, the second sidewall, the lower wall, and the rear wall define a volume for receiving payload; and

a notch extending through the first sidewall, the notch located proximate to an upper edge of the first sidewall;

a hinge assembly received in the notch, the hinge assembly including:

a housing having a first internal surface and a first external surface, the first external surface of the housing being flush with the first external sidewall surface when the first hinge assembly is received in the notch; and

a stowage bin door pivotably coupled to the bin bucket assembly via the hinge assembly, the stowage bin door being moveable between an open position and a closed position.

12. The stowage bin assembly of claim 11 , further comprising:

a coupling structure that is fixedly coupled to, and moveable with, the stowage bin door.

13. The stowage bin assembly of claim 11 wherein the hinge assembly includes a pivot axis about which the stowage bin door pivotably moves between the open and closed positions.

14. The stowage bin assembly of claim 11 , further comprising:

a partition coupled to the lower wall.
