Abstract

A display unit which can realize reduction in thickness and weight of the display unit by omitting a void between a touch panel and a display panel, and its manufacturing method. Whole faces of the touch panel and the display panel are directly bonded together with an adhesive layer in between. The display panel has a structure wherein a driving substrate in which organic light emitting devices are formed and a sealing substrate are bonded together with an adhesive layer in between.

Claims (38)

1. A display unit, comprising:

a substrate;

a plurality of light-emitting devices on the substrate;

a protective film over the substrate and directly contacting each of the plurality of light-emitting devices, wherein the protective film is configured to seal each of the plurality of light-emitting devices; and

a touch panel over the protective film, wherein the touch panel comprises a plastic film, and the touch panel is configured to detect contact;

a sealing panel between the touch panel and the protective film, wherein the sealing panel comprises a plurality of filters, and each of the plurality of filters is aligned with a corresponding light-emitting device of the plurality of light-emitting devices;

a first adhesive film between the sealing panel and the touch panel, wherein the first adhesive film separates the sealing panel from the touch panel, and the first adhesive film directly contacts both the sealing panel and the touch panel; and

a second adhesive film between the sealing panel and the protective film, wherein the second adhesive film directly contacts each of the protective film and the plurality of filters, and the sealing panel extends beyond the second adhesive film in a direction parallel to a top surface of the substrate.

2. The display unit of claim 1 , wherein the second adhesive film directly contacts a sidewall of a filter of the plurality of filters.

3. The display unit of claim 1 , wherein the protective film comprises at least one of silicon nitride or silicon oxide.

4. The display unit of claim 1 , wherein the protective film directly contacts the substrate.

5. The display unit of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of light-emitting devices comprises an organic electro luminescence material.

6. The display unit of claim 1 , wherein the touch panel is a flexible touch panel.

7. The display unit of claim 1 , wherein each of the plurality of light-emitting devices is embedded in the protective film.

8. The display unit of claim 1 , wherein a thickness of the protective film over a light-emitting device of the plurality of light-emitting devices is less than a thickness of the protective film in a region directly contacting the substrate.

9. A display unit, comprising:

a substrate;

a plurality of organic light emitting devices on the substrate;

a protective film over the substrate and directly contacting each of the plurality of organic light emitting devices, wherein the protective film is configured to seal each of the plurality of organic light emitting devices from moisture and oxygen, and the protective film comprises at least one of silicon oxide or silicon nitride;

a touch sensing panel over the protective film, wherein the touch sensing panel is configured to detect contact thereon; and

an adhesive layer between the touch sensing panel and the protective film, wherein, a plurality of filters is embedded in the adhesive layer, and each of the plurality of filters is aligned with a corresponding organic light emitting device of the plurality of organic light emitting devices, the adhesive layer separates the touch sensing panel from the protective film, the adhesive layer directly contacts the protective film and the touch sensing panel, and the touch sealing panel extends beyond the adhesive layer in a direction parallel to a top surface of the substrate.

10. The display unit of claim 9 , wherein the touch sensing panel comprises a plastic film.

11. The display unit of claim 9 , wherein the touch sensing panel is a flexible touch sensing panel.

12. The display unit of claim 9 , wherein the protective film directly contacts sidewalls of each of the plurality of organic light emitting devices.

13. The display unit of claim 9 , wherein the protective film directly contacts the substrate.

14. The display unit of claim 9 , wherein a width of the adhesive layer is equal to a width of the protective film and equal to a width of the touch sensing panel, and width is measured in a direction parallel to the top surface of the substrate.

15. A display unit, comprising:

a substrate;

a plurality of organic light emitting devices on the substrate;

a protective film over the substrate between adjacent organic light emitting devices of the plurality of organic light emitting devices and directly contacting each of the plurality of organic light emitting devices, wherein the protective film is configured to seal each of the plurality of organic light emitting devices, and the protective film comprises at least one of silicon oxide or silicon nitride;

a touch sensing panel configured to detect contact thereon;

a sealing panel between the protective film and the touch sensing panel, wherein the sealing panel comprises a plurality of filters, and each of the plurality of filters is aligned with a corresponding light-emitting device of the plurality of light-emitting devices;

a first adhesive layer between the touch sensing panel and the sealing panel, wherein the first adhesive layer directly contacts each of the touch sensing panel and the sealing panel; and

a second adhesive layer between the sealing panel and the protective film, wherein the second adhesive layer directly contacts each of the protective film and the plurality of filters.

16. The display unit of claim 15 , wherein the protective film directly contacts the substrate.

17. The display unit of claim 15 , wherein a top-most surface of the protective layer is substantially planar across an entirety of the substrate.

18. The display unit of claim 17 , wherein the first adhesive layer covers less than an entirety of a top surface of the sealing panel.

19. The display unit of claim 15 , wherein the touch sensing panel is a flexible touch sensing panel.
