Abstract

A mounting system capable of mounting objects to support structures. The mounting system includes a wall mount including a display bracket configured to hold the object, a fixed support bracket coupleable to a vertical support structure, and a linkage assembly. The linkage assembly has a low-profile stowed configuration in which the object is held in a raised position close to the support structure. Tilt adjustment mechanisms are used to adjust the tilt of the display bracket.

Claims (69)

1. A motorized television mounting system for automatically rotating a television, comprising:

a support bracket configured to be coupled to a wall;

a display bracket configured to hold a television;

a linkage assembly rotatably coupled to the support bracket and configured to carry the display bracket, wherein the linkage assembly is movable between a stowed configuration to hold the display bracket at a stowed position and a lowered configuration to hold the display bracket at a lowered position;

an actuator assembly coupled to the support bracket and configured to move the linkage assembly between the lowered configuration and the stowed configuration; and

at least one positioner coupled to one of the display bracket or the linkage assembly and configured to move into contact with the other one of the display bracket or the linkage assembly to cause rotation of the display bracket relative to the linkage assembly when the actuator assembly causes the display bracket to move toward the stowed position.

The motorized television mounting system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one positioner moves away from the other one of the display bracket or the linkage assembly when the linkage assembly moves toward the lowered configuration to allow the display bracket to rotate about an axis of rotation at an angle greater than ±5 degrees.

3. The motorized television mounting system of claim 2 , wherein the at least one positioner prevents rotation of the display bracket about the axis of rotation when the linkage assembly is in the stowed configuration.

4. The motorized television mounting system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one positioner includes a threaded member carried by the linkage assembly.

5. The motorized television mounting system of claim 1 , wherein the other one of display bracket or the linkage assembly moves away from the at least one positioner when the display bracket moves toward the lowered position.

6. The motorized television mounting system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one positioner is coupled to the linkage assembly and positioned to push against the display bracket as the television is raised.

7. The motorized television mounting system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one positioner includes a member rotatably coupled to one of the display bracket or the linkage assembly, wherein the member is configured to contact the other one of the display bracket or the linkage assembly.

8. The motorized television mounting system of claim 7 , wherein the member includes:

a head configured to contact to the other one of the display bracket or the linkage assembly, and

a body connected to the head and coupled to the one of the display bracket or the linkage assembly.

9. The motorized television mounting system of claim 7 , wherein the member is rotatable relative to the one of the display bracket or the linkage assembly to set a position of the display bracket.

10. The motorized television mounting system of claim 1 , wherein the actuator assembly includes a linear actuator and a motor.

11. The television mounting system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one positioner contacts the other one of the display bracket or the linkage assembly to cause rotation of the display bracket relative to an upper link of the linkage assembly.

12. The television mounting system of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of a component of the display bracket is positioned in an opening defined by the linkage assembly.

13. The television mounting system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one positioner includes a passive cam.

14. The television mounting system of claim 1 , wherein the display bracket at the stowed position holds the television substantially parallel to the wall.

15. The television mounting system of claim 1 , wherein the display bracket is held at a specific angle when in the stowed position, wherein the television mounting system is configured to rotate the display bracket such that the display bracket returns to the specific angle when moved toward the stowed position.

16. A television mounting system, comprising:

a support bracket;

a display bracket;

a linkage assembly rotatably coupled to the support bracket and coupled to the display bracket, wherein the linkage assembly is movable between a raised configuration and a lowered configuration to move at least a portion of the display bracket below a portion of the support bracket couplable to a wall;

an actuator assembly configured to move the linkage assembly from the lowered configuration to the raised configuration; and

a positioner mechanism coupled to the linkage assembly and configured to contact the display bracket such that the display bracket rotates relative to the linkage assembly when the actuator assembly operates to move the linkage assembly toward the raised configuration.

The television mounting system of claim 16 , wherein the positioner mechanism pushes against the display bracket while the linkage assembly moves toward the raised configuration and allows rotation of the display bracket relative to the linkage assembly when the linkage assembly has been moved away from the raised configuration.

18. The television mounting system of claim 16 , wherein the positioner mechanism holds the display bracket at a viewing orientation while the linkage assembly is in the raised configuration.

19. The television mounting system of claim 16 , wherein the positioner mechanism is spaced apart from the display bracket when the linkage assembly is in the lowered configuration.

20. The television mounting system of claim 16 , wherein the positioner mechanism has a rotatable member that comes into contact with the display bracket when the linkage assembly moves toward the raised configuration.

21. The television mounting system of claim 16 , wherein the positioner mechanism is spaced apart and moves away from the display bracket when the linkage assembly moves toward the lowered configuration.

22. The television mounting system of claim 16 , wherein the positioner mechanism includes

a head configured to contact to the display bracket, and

a connector coupled to the head and the linkage assembly.

23. The television mounting system of claim 16 , wherein the actuator assembly is configured to be controlled by a remote control.

24. The television mounting system of claim 16 , wherein the positioner mechanism automatically rotates the display bracket to keep the display bracket spaced apart from the wall to which the support bracket is attached.

25. The television mounting system of claim 16 , wherein the positioner mechanism includes at least one camming element that contacts a surface of the television mounting system to cause rotation of the display bracket.

26. The television mounting system of claim 16 , wherein the positioner mechanism includes at least one threaded member and a threaded member holder coupled to the display bracket.

27. The television mounting system of claim 26 , wherein the threaded member holder extends toward a linkage of the linkage assembly.

28. The television mounting system of claim 16 , further comprising at least one swivel pin rotatably coupling the display bracket to the linkage assembly.

29. The television mounting system of claim 16 , wherein the positioner mechanism includes a bolt that comes into contact with another component of the television mounting system to position the display bracket relative to the linkage assembly.

30. A television mounting system, comprising:

a support bracket;

a display bracket;

a linkage assembly rotatably coupled to the support bracket and coupled to the display bracket, wherein the linkage assembly is movable between a raised configuration and a lowered configuration to move at least a portion of the display bracket below a portion of the support bracket when the support bracket is coupled to a wall;

a motorized assembly operable to move the linkage assembly from the lowered configuration to the raised configuration; and

a positioner configured to contact a portion of the television mounting system to cause the display bracket to rotate relative to the linkage assembly when the linkage assembly is moved toward the raised configuration.

31. The television mounting system of claim 30 , further including at least one threaded member rotatable to control a viewing position of the display bracket.

32. The television mounting system of claim 30 , wherein the portion of the television mounting system is part of the linkage assembly.

33. The television mounting system of claim 30 , wherein the positioner includes a cam.

34. The television mounting system of claim 30 , wherein the positioner is configured to cause the display bracket to rotate about an axis of rotation at an angle greater than 5 degrees relative to the linkage assembly.

35. The television mounting system of claim 30 , wherein the display bracket rotates about a generally vertical axis relative to the linkage assembly when the linkage assembly is moved toward the raised configuration.

36. A television mounting system, comprising:

a support bracket;

a display bracket;

a linkage assembly rotatably coupled to the support bracket and coupled to the display bracket, wherein the linkage assembly is movable between a raised configuration and a lowered configuration to move at least a portion of the display bracket below a portion of the support bracket couplable to a wall; and

a motorized device configured to move the linkage assembly from the lowered configuration to the raised configuration, wherein the television mounting system is configured to rotate the display bracket relative to the linkage assembly to adjust an angular position of the display bracket relative to the support bracket when the linkage assembly moves toward the raised configuration.

37. The television mounting system of claim 36 , further comprising a non-motorized swivel mechanism.

38. The television mounting system of claim 37 , wherein the display bracket rotates relative to the linkage assembly along a generally vertical axis via the non-motorized swivel mechanism.

39. The television mounting system of claim 38 , wherein the non-motorized swivel mechanism includes a pin held by a retainer and mounts.

40. The television mounting system of claim 37 , wherein the display bracket is held at an initial angle when in the raised configuration, and wherein the display bracket is capable of being manually swiveled away from the initial angle by a user when the linkage assembly is in the lowered configuration.

41. The television mounting system of claim 40 , wherein the television mounting system is configured to rotate the display bracket back to the initial angle by swiveling the display bracket via the non-motorized swivel mechanism.

42. The television mounting system of claim 41 , wherein at least a portion of the linkage assembly pushes on the display bracket to cause the display bracket to rotate.

43. The television mounting system of claim 42 , wherein the at least a portion of the linkage assembly contacts the display bracket.

44. The television mounting system of claim 40 , wherein the television mounting system is configured to rotate the display bracket back to the initial angle via the non-motorized swivel mechanism when the linkage assembly moves toward the raised configuration.

45. The television mounting system of claim 40 , wherein the display bracket is substantially parallel to the wall when held at the initial angle.

46. The television mounting system of claim 36 , wherein the motorized device comprises a linear actuator and a motor.
