3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the component of the information comprises at least one of a textual section of the source document, a figure of the source document, and a table of the source document.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the source document comprises at least one of a portable document format file and a standard generalized markup language file.
5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the organizational framework of the source document comprises a hierarchical framework for the information of the source document.
6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the window is displayed with each format structure of the plurality of format structures as a result of the user requesting via the IETM viewer to view the information on the window with the plurality of format structures.
7 . The method of claim 7 further comprising initially providing the window for display via the IETM viewer with the information of the source document without the plurality of format structures prior to receiving the requesting to view the information with the plurality of format structures.
8 . An apparatus for importing information of a source document for a publication of technical documentation for an item into an interactive electronic technical manual system (IETM) configured to provide electronic and credentialed access to the technical documentation for the item via an IETM viewer, the apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory including a computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to:
for each format structure of a plurality of format structures found in the information of the source document:
read the format structure found in the information, the format structure configured to contribute to an organizational framework of the source document for readability of the information found in the source document; and
assign a tag to a component of the information found in the source document corresponding to the format structure, wherein the tag (1) identifies the format structure and the component of the information and (2) is configured to allow display of the format structure for the component of the information on a window via the IETM viewer;
receive input for a request to view the information for the source document made by a user signed into the IETM, wherein the request is made by the user via the IETM viewer executing on a user computing entity; and
responsive to receiving the input:
generate the window based at least in part on the tag for each format structure of the plurality of format structures found in the information to display each format structure on the window along with the corresponding component of the information to provide the organizational framework of the source document on the window, and
provide the window for display via the IETM viewer.
9 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the format structure comprises at least one of a title description, a chapter description, a paragraph description, a heading description, a sub-heading description, a figure description, and a table description for the component of the information corresponding to the format structure.
