Abstract

A system configured for detecting firearm threats on a premises includes a surveillance camera on a premises and a utility. The surveillance camera is configured to generate surveillance data. The utility is configured to provide a cloud service for detecting firearm threats on a premises. The system includes a processor; memory in electronic communication with the processor; and instructions stored in the memory. The instructions are executable by the processor to: detect the presence of a firearm on the premises; and upon detecting a firearm, sending a notification that a firearm has been detected on the premises.

Claims (28)

1 . A system configured for detecting firearm threats on a premises, comprising:

a surveillance camera on the premises, the surveillance camera configured to generate surveillance data;

a utility configured to provide a cloud service for detecting firearm threats on the premises;

the system including

a processor;

memory in electronic communication with the processor; and

instructions stored in the memory, the instructions being executable by the processor to:

detect the presence of a firearm on the premises;

upon detecting a firearm, sending a notification that a firearm has been detected on the premises.

2 . The system of claim 1 further comprising a recorder, the recorder configured to monitor a firearm and to generate the surveillance data;

3 . The system of claim 1 wherein the utility is an external utility.

4 . The system of claim 2 wherein the processor, the memory, and the instructions stored in the memory reside in the recorder.

5 . The system of claim 2 wherein the notification is generated by the recorder, the notification alerting the cloud service to the detection of the presence of a firearm on the premises.

6 . The system of claim 5 wherein the notification triggers transmittal of a video feed of the surveillance data to the cloud service.

7 . The system of claim 3 wherein the processor, the memory, and the instructions stored in the memory reside in the utility.

8 . The system of claim 3 wherein the processor, the memory, and the instructions stored in the memory reside in the external utility.

9 . The system of claim 1 wherein the surveillance data allows for remote video identifying and monitoring individuals with firearms and their behavior on the premises.

10 . The system of claim 1 wherein the notification is generated by the cloud service.

11 . The system of claim 10 wherein the notification generated by the cloud service is communicated to the premises.

12 . The system of claim 10 wherein the notification alerting the premises regarding the detection of the presence of a firearm on the premises.

13 . The system of claim 1 wherein the cloud service is provided to the premises by way of a subscription service.

14 . The system of claim 2 wherein the recorder continually streams video feed to the cloud service.

15 . The system of claim 2 wherein the recorder streams video feed on detection of a firearm on the premises.

16 . The system of claim 7 wherein on detection of a firearm the cloud service responds to the detection of the firearm.

17 . The system of claim 16 wherein the response of the cloud service is to investigate further.

18 . The system of claim 16 wherein the response of the cloud service is to take an action.

19 . The system of claim 18 wherein the action taken by the cloud service is to send a control signal to the premises.

20 . The system of claim 16 wherein the response provides instructions to the premises regarding addressing the detection of the firearm on the premises.
