Abstract

Aspects of the present invention disclose a method, computer program product, and system for generating scheduling information for performing test cases for an asset at a location based on weather information. The method includes one or more processors receiving a set of parameters for an asset. The set of parameters including a test case set for the asset and an indication of a testing location for the asset. The method further includes one or more processors determining weather information associated with the indicated testing location. The method further includes one or more processors identifying a test case in the test case set that includes a weather variable that corresponds to weather present in the determined weather information of the indicated testing location. The method further includes one or more processors scheduling execution of the identified test case, at the indicated testing location, based on the determined weather information.

scheduling, by one or more processors, execution of the identified test case, at the indicated testing location for the asset, based on the determined weather information; wherein scheduling execution of the identified test case, at the indicated testing location for the asset, based on the determined weather information further comprises: scheduling, by one or more processors, execution of the identified test case at the indicated testing location at a date and time that the determined weather information forecasts that the weather variable will be present at the indicated testing location.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining, by one or more processors, whether the determined weather information associated with the indicated testing location includes at least one weather variable that is not represented in the test case set for the asset; and

in response to determining that the determined weather information associated with the indicated testing location does include at least one weather variable that is not represented in the test case set for the asset, generating, by one or more processors, a new test case for the asset that utilizes the at least one weather variable.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein generating the new test case for the asset that utilizes the at least one weather variable further comprises:

sending, by one or more processors, an alert to a user associated with testing the asset that the determined weather information associated with the indicated testing location does include at least one weather variable that is not represented in the test case set for the asset;

receiving, by one or more processors, an indication of a test for the asset that utilizes the at least one weather variable, from the user associated with testing the asset; and

generating, by one or more processors, the new test case for the asset to include the indicated test that utilizes the at least one weather variable.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein determining weather information that is associated with the indicated testing location further comprises:

querying, by one or more processors, a weather service for a weather forecast for the indicated testing location for the asset, wherein the determined weather information includes the weather forecast for the indicated testing location for the asset.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the received set of parameters includes the indication of a testing location for the asset and a request to schedule execution of test cases in the test case set for the asset.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determined weather information includes forecast weather variables selected from the group consisting of: temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind, and atmospheric pressure.

7. A computer program product comprising:

one or more computer readable storage media and program instructions stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, the program instructions executed by one or more processors comprising:

program instructions to receive a set of parameters for an asset, the set of parameters including a test case set for the asset and an indication of a testing location for the asset;

program instructions to determine weather information that is associated with the indicated testing location;

program instructions to identify a test case in the test case set for the asset that includes a weather variable that corresponds to a weather variable that is present in the determined weather information that is associated with the indicated testing location; and

program instructions to schedule execution of the identified test case, at the indicated testing location for the asset, based on the determined weather information; wherein the program instructions to schedule execution of the identified test case, at the indicated testing location for the asset, based on the determined weather information further comprise program instructions to: schedule execution of the identified test case at the indicated testing location at a date and time that the determined weather information forecasts that the weather variable will be present at the indicated testing location.

8. The computer program product of claim 7 , further comprising program instructions, stored on the one or more computer readable storage media, to:

determine whether the determined weather information associated with the indicated testing location includes at least one weather variable that is not represented in the test case set for the asset; and

in response to determining that the determined weather information associated with the indicated testing location does include at least one weather variable that is not represented in the test case set for the asset, generate a new test case for the asset that utilizes the at least one weather variable.

9. The computer program product of claim 8 , wherein the program instructions to generate the new test case for the asset that utilizes the at least one weather variable further comprise program instructions to:

send an alert to a user associated with testing the asset that the determined weather information associated with the indicated testing location does include at least one weather variable that is not represented in the test case set for the asset;

receive an indication of a test for the asset that utilizes the at least one weather variable, from the user associated with testing the asset; and

generate the new test case for the asset to include the indicated test that utilizes the at least one weather variable.

10. The computer program product of claim 7 , wherein the program instructions to determine weather information that is associated with the indicated testing location further comprise program instructions to:

query a weather service for a weather forecast for the indicated testing location for the asset, wherein the determined weather information includes the weather forecast for the indicated testing location for the asset.
