Abstract

Methods and apparatus for cleaning a surface with a cleaning device having a body with a handle, a connector, and one or more cleaning heads that are removably attached to the cleaning device. Each cleaning head include a lower surface arranged to contact a surface to be cleaned and a dirt collection chamber permanently attached to the cleaning head. The cleaning head may include a support structure to support the dirt collection chamber and a cleaning sheet. The cleaning head also may include a suction nozzle. At least a portion of the dirt collection chamber may be made of a filter material.

Claims (22)

1. A replacement head for use with a cleaning device, comprising:

a cleaning sheet having upper and lower surfaces, the lower surface being configured to contact a surface to be cleaned;

a housing defining a non-removable chamber therein for receiving and retaining debris, the non-removable chamber having a non-removable air filter secured thereto, the housing being coupled to the upper surface of the cleaning sheet, and the housing having an opening formed therein for allowing debris to flow into the chamber.

2. The replacement head of claim 1 , wherein the housing is configured to couple to a source of suction on a cleaning device to allow a vacuum force to be applied to the chamber to draw dirt through the opening into the chamber.

3. The replacement head of claim 1 , wherein the housing is directly attached to the cleaning sheet.

4. The replacement head of claim 1 , wherein the housing is permanently attached to the cleaning sheet.

5. The replacement head of claim 1 , wherein the upper surface of the cleaning sheet is directly attached to the chamber.

6. The replacement head of claim 1 , wherein the opening is in a front portion of the housing adjacent to an edge of the cleaning sheet.

7. The replacement head of claim 1 , further comprising a valve arranged to allow debris to flow through the opening into the chamber, while retaining debris within the chamber.

8. The replacement head of claim 1 , wherein the housing includes a support structure arranged to couple to a cleaning device for mating the replacement head thereto.

9. The replacement head of claim 1 , wherein the housing includes at least one engagement element configured to mate with an engagement element on a cleaning device for removably attaching the replacement head thereto.

10. The replacement head of claim 1 , wherein the cleaning sheet is planar.

11. A replacement head, comprising:

a housing having a non-removable dirt collection chamber and a suction inlet for allowing debris to flow into the dirt collection chamber, the non-removable dirt collection chamber having a non-removable air filter secured thereto, the housing being configured to couple to a cleaning device such that a vacuum force can be applied to the dirt collection chamber to draw dirt through the suction inlet into the dirt collection chamber; and

a cleaning sheet attached to the housing and having a surface configured to contact a surface to be cleaned.

12. The replacement head of claim 11 , wherein the housing is directly attached to the cleaning sheet.

13. The replacement head of claim 11 , wherein the housing is permanently attached to the cleaning sheet.

14. The replacement head of claim 11 , wherein the suction inlet is in a front portion of the housing adjacent to an edge of the cleaning sheet.

15. The replacement head of claim 11 , further comprising a valve arranged to allow debris to flow through the suction inlet into the chamber, while retaining debris within the chamber.

16. The replacement head of claim 11 , wherein the housing includes a support structure arranged the couple to a cleaning device for mating the replacement head thereto.

17. The replacement head of claim 11 , wherein the housing includes at least one engagement element configured to mate with an engagement element on a cleaning device for removably attaching the replacement head thereto.

18. The replacement head of claim 11 , wherein the cleaning sheet is planar.
