Abstract

Methods and apparatus for cleaning a surface with a cleaning device having a body with a handle, a connector, and one or more cleaning heads that are removably attached to the cleaning device. Each cleaning head include a lower surface arranged to contact a surface to be cleaned and a dirt collection chamber permanently attached to the cleaning head. The cleaning head may include a support structure to support the dirt collection chamber and a cleaning sheet. The cleaning head also may include a suction nozzle. At least a portion of the dirt collection chamber may be made of a filter material.

Claims (26)

1. A cleaning assembly, comprising:

a cleaning device having a handle, a shaft extending from the handle, a body having a vacuum source, and a connector head having an upper surface, a lower surface, and a spray nozzle for delivering fluid to a surface to be cleaned; and

a replacement head having a bottom surface and a dirt collection chamber configured to have a vacuum force created by the vacuum source applied therethrough and to receive and retain debris, the dirt collection chamber configured to be received through the lower surface into a cavity of the connector head, the replacement head including a cleaning sheet disposed on the bottom surface and configured to contact a surface to be cleaned.

2. The cleaning assembly of claim 1 , wherein the replacement head includes a portion defining an opening and configured to couple to the vacuum source on the cleaning device to allow the vacuum force to be applied through the opening to the dirt collection chamber to draw debris into the dirt collection chamber.

3. The cleaning assembly of claim 2 , wherein the replacement head includes a filter extending across the opening for allowing the vacuum force to be applied to the dirt collection chamber while retaining debris within the dirt collection chamber.

4. The cleaning assembly of claim 1 , wherein the replacement head includes at least one engagement feature configured to mate with a corresponding engagement feature on the connector head of the cleaning device.

5. The cleaning assembly of claim 1 , wherein the replacement head includes a suction inlet formed in a wall of the dirt collection chamber, and wherein an opening of the suction inlet is aligned with an edge of the cleaning sheet.

6. The cleaning assembly of claim 1 , wherein the cleaning sheet is planar.

7. The cleaning assembly of claim 1 , wherein the connector head has a width that is the same as a width of the replacement head.

8. The cleaning assembly of claim 1 , further comprising a release mechanism on the connector head for releasing the replacement head from the cleaning device.

9. A cleaning assembly, comprising:

a cleaning device having a handle, a shaft extending from the handle, a body including a vacuum source, and a connector head having an upper surface and a lower surface, the cleaning device being configured to removably receive a liquid reservoir; and

a replacement head having, a bottom surface and a dirt collection chamber configured to receive and retain debris collected via the vacuum source, the dirt collection chamber configured to be received through the lower surface into a cavity of the connector head, the replacement head including a cleaning sheet disposed on the bottom surface and configure to contact a surface to be cleaned.

10. The cleaning assembly of claim 9 , further comprising a nozzle on the cleaning device configured to deliver fluid from the liquid reservoir positioned on the cleaning assembly to the surface to be cleaned.

11. The cleaning assembly of claim 9 , wherein the replacement head includes a portion having an opening and configured to couple to the vacuum source on the cleaning device to allow the vacuum force to be applied through the opening to the dirt collection chamber to draw debris into the dirt collection chamber.

12. The cleaning assembly of claim 11 , wherein the replacement head includes a filter extending across the opening for allowing the vacuum force to be applied to the dirt collection chamber while retaining debris within the dirt collection chamber.

13. The cleaning assembly of claim 9 , wherein the replacement head includes at least one engagement feature configured to mate with a corresponding engagement feature on the connector head of the cleaning device.

14. The cleaning assembly of claim 9 , wherein the replacement head includes a suction inlet formed in a wall of the dirt collection chamber, and wherein an opening of the suction inlet is aligned with an edge of the cleaning sheet.

15. The cleaning assembly of claim 9 , wherein the cleaning sheet is planar.

16. The cleaning assembly of claim 9 , wherein the connector head has a width that is the same as a width of the replacement head.

17. The cleaning assembly of claim 9 , further comprising a release mechanism on the connector head for releasing the replacement head from the cleaning device.

18. A cleaning assembly, comprising:

a cleaning device having a handle, a shaft extending from the handle, a body having a vacuum source, and a connector head having an upper surface, a lower surface, and a spray nozzle for delivering fluid to a surface to be cleaned; and

a replacement head having a nozzle, a bottom surface, and a dirt collection chamber configured to receive and retain debris collected via a vacuum force applied through the nozzle, the dirt collection chamber configured to be received through the lower surface into a cavity of the connector head, the replacement head including a cleaning sheet disposed on the bottom surface and configured to contact a surface to be cleaned.

19. The cleaning assembly of claim 18 , wherein the replacement head is configured to couple to the vacuum source on the cleaning device to allow the vacuum force to be applied through the nozzle to the dirt collection chamber to draw debris into the dirt collection chamber.

20. The cleaning assembly of claim 19 , wherein the replacement head includes a filter extending across the opening for allowing a vacuum force to be applied to the dirt collection chamber while retaining debris within the dirt collection chamber.
