Abstract

A headset including speakers, a transmitter, and audio processing circuitry, where the audio processing circuitry is operable to: process a received audio signal for output via said one or more speakers; detect, in said audio signal, an occurrence of a particular video game audio clip; and in response to said detection, trigger a transmission, via said transmitter, of a command associated with said particular video game audio clip. Parameter settings for the headset are associated, in memory, with the particular video game audio clip. The parameter settings may be automatically sent to the headset in response to detection, by the audio processing circuitry, of an occurrence of the particular audio clip in an audio signal output by a game console. The parameter settings may determine a manner in which the headset processes game audio received by the headset and/or a manner in which the headset processes chat audio.

Claims (28)

1. A method for audio communication, the method comprising

in a headset comprising one or more speakers, a transmitter, and audio processing circuitry:

processing a received audio signal for output via said one or more speakers;

detecting, in said audio signal, an occurrence of a particular video game audio clip; and

in response to said detection, triggering a transmission, via said transmitter, of a command associated with said particular video game audio clip.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein parameter settings for said headset are associated, in memory, with said particular video game audio clip.

3. The method of claim 2 , comprising automatically receiving said parameter settings in said headset in response to detection, by said audio processing circuitry, of an occurrence of said particular audio clip in an audio signal output by a game console.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said parameter settings determine one or both of:

a manner in which said headset processes game audio received by said headset; and

a manner in which said headset processes chat audio received by said headset.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein said parameter settings determine a manner in which said headset processes microphone audio to be output by said headset to a game console.

6. The method of claim 1 , comprising communicatively coupling said headset to a multi-purpose device.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein said multi-purpose device comprises a smartphone.

8. The method of claim 6 , comprising receiving gaming related data and/or commands in said headset from said multi-purpose device.

9. A headset comprising one or more speakers, a transmitter, and audio processing circuitry, wherein:

said audio processing circuitry is operable to:

process a received audio signal for output via said one or more speakers;

detect, in said audio signal, an occurrence of a particular video game audio clip; and

in response to said detection, trigger a transmission, via said transmitter, of a command associated with said particular video game audio clip.

10. The headset of claim 9 , wherein parameter settings for said headset are associated, in memory, with said particular video game audio clip.

11. The headset of claim 10 , wherein said parameter settings are automatically sent to said headset in response to detection, by said audio processing circuitry, of an occurrence of said particular audio clip in an audio signal output by a game console.

12. The headset of claim 9 , wherein said parameter settings determine one or both of:

a manner in which said headset processes game audio received by said headset; and

a manner in which said headset processes chat audio received by said headset.

13. The headset of claim 9 , wherein said parameter settings determine a manner in which said headset processes microphone audio to be output by said headset to a game console.

14. The headset of claim 9 , wherein said headset is communicatively coupled to a multi-purpose device.

15. The headset of claim 14 , wherein said multi-purpose device comprises a smartphone.

16. The headset of claim 14 , wherein said headset is operable to receive gaming related data and/or commands from said multi-purpose device.
