Abstract

An integrated security system operating over a network includes networked video sources, networked monitor appliances and networked monitor appliance controllers. Video streams are processed by the networked monitor appliances for display on a monitor. The configuration of networked video sources, networked monitor appliances and networked monitor appliance controllers can be controlled by an application on a smart device acting as a remote. A remote control application is provided for use on smart devices to remotely control the configuration of a networked monitor appliance and verify configuration changes.

Claims (98)

1. A system to display video over a network comprising:

at least one networked monitor appliance (NMA) comprising:

a networked monitor appliance cloud services interface coupled to a network cloud;

a remote command interface coupled to the cloud services interface, the command interface adapted to receive configuration commands from a networked monitor remote;

wherein the networked monitor remote comprises:

a smart device;

a remote control application, installed on the smart device, comprising:

a remote control application cloud services interface coupled to the networked monitor appliance cloud services interface through cloud services;

a graphical user interface to generate commands;

a notification interface coupled to the remote control application cloud services interface; and

an authentication interface coupled to the remote control application cloud services interface;

wherein the authentication interface includes application keys that constantly and automatically revolve to increase security of tokens and API keys.

2. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a command generator coupled to the cloud services interface and the graphical user interface.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the remote control application enables a user to generate and execute commands for at least one of:

receiving a screen from the at least one NMA;

receiving a screen shot of the at least one NMA;

receiving a layout from the at least one NMA;

receiving cell information from the at least one NMA;

changing cell information from the at least one NMA;

displaying a ticker on the at least one NMA; and

displaying digital signage on the at least one NMA.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the remote control application enables a user to view a camera image in a thumbnail box.

5. The system of claim 4 , wherein the remote control application provides instant replay controls and audio controls to control a cell on the at least one NMA.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the graphical user interface includes a display of at least one of:

a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed;

a web site providing traffic reporting; and

a web site providing weather reporting.

7. A system to display video over a network comprising:

at least one networked monitor appliance (NMA) comprising:

a networked monitor appliance cloud services interface coupled to a network cloud;

a remote command interface coupled to the cloud services interface, the command interface adapted to receive configuration commands from a networked monitor remote;

wherein the networked monitor remote comprises:

a smart device;

a remote control application, installed on the smart device, comprising:

a remote control application cloud services interface coupled to the networked monitor appliance cloud services interface through cloud services;

a graphical user interface to generate commands;

a notification interface coupled to the remote control application cloud services interface; and

an authentication interface coupled to the remote control application cloud services interface;

wherein the graphical user interface provides a popup notification if a camera displaying in a cell in the display of the at least one networked monitor appliance (NMA) changes status.

8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the popup notification indicates when a camera goes offline and the camera is identified by a camera name.

9. A system to display video over a network comprising:

at least one networked monitor appliance (NMA) comprising:

a networked monitor appliance cloud services interface coupled to a network cloud;

a remote command interface coupled to the cloud services interface, the command interface adapted to receive configuration commands from a networked monitor remote;

wherein the networked monitor remote comprises:

a smart device;

a remote control application, installed on the smart device, comprising:

a remote control application cloud services interface coupled to the networked monitor appliance cloud services interface through cloud services;

a graphical user interface to generate commands;

a notification interface coupled to the remote control application cloud services interface; and

an authentication interface coupled to the remote control application cloud services interface;

wherein the networked monitor appliance includes a corresponding authentication interface to the remote control application authentication interface and securely connects the smart device to the networked monitor appliance through the cloud services; and

wherein the authentication interface of the networked monitor appliance includes application keys the constantly and automatically revolve to increase security of tokens and API keys.

10. A system to display video over a network comprising:

at least one networked monitor appliance (NMA) comprising:

a networked monitor appliance cloud services interface coupled to a network cloud;

a remote command interface coupled to the cloud services interface, the command interface adapted to receive configuration commands from a networked monitor remote;

wherein the networked monitor remote comprises:

a smart device;

a remote control application, installed on the smart device, comprising:

a remote control application cloud services interface coupled to the networked monitor appliance cloud services interface through cloud services;

a graphical user interface to generate commands;

a notification interface coupled to the remote control application cloud services interface; and

an authentication interface coupled to the remote control application cloud services interface;

wherein video and digital signage appears on the at least one networked monitor appliance (NMA) in response to one of:

an event; and

an alarm.

11. A method for controlling a networked monitor appliance using a remote control device comprising:

downloading a remote control application on the remote control device;

authenticating the remote control device;

securely connecting the networked monitor appliance through a cloud interface to the remote control device;

receiving a graphical representation of at least one cell of a networked monitor appliance display;

displaying the graphical representation of the at least one cell of the networked monitor appliance display on the remote control device;

transmitting at least one command to the networked monitor appliance;

receiving the at least one command through the cloud interface; and

providing a graphical user interface to display a result of the at least one command on the remote control device;

wherein authenticating the remote control device further comprises and automatically revolving application keys to increase security of tokens and API keys.

12. The method of claim 11 further comprising displaying a screen shot of a networked monitor appliance live display in response to at least one command request for a screen shot of a live display on the networked monitor appliance.

13. A method for controlling a networked monitor appliance using a remote control device comprising:
