Abstract

The present invention relates compounds of Formula (A), as well as their preparation and uses, and further relates pharmaceutical compositions comprising these compounds and their uses as modulators of dysfunctional glutamate transmission. The present invention also relates to uses of the compounds or pharmaceutical compositions in treating or preventing certain neurological and psychiatric disorders and diseases as well as cancer in humans.

Claims (22)

1. A method of suppressing, ameliorating, or relieving a symptom of a disease or disorder selected from ataxia, depression, drug addiction, obsessive compulsive disorder, spinal cord injury, melanoma, glioma, and breast cancer in a patient comprising administering to a patient in need of such treatment a therapeutically effective amount of a compound selected from:

6-(pentafluoro-λ 6 -sulfaneyl)benzo[d]thiazol-2-amine (I):

6-(pentafluoro-λ 6 -sulfaneyl)benzo[d][1,3]selenazol-2-amine (V):

6-(trifluoromethyl)benzo[d][1,3]selenazol-2-amine (VI):

and

6-((trifluoromethyl)thio)benzo[d][1,3]selenazol-2-amine (IX):

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of any of the foregoing.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the compound is 6-(pentafluoro-λ 6 -sulfaneyl)benzo[d]thiazol-2-amine (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof:

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein administering comprises orally administering.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein administering comprises transdermally administering.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein administering comprises administering a therapeutically effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising the compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein,

the pharmaceutical composition is an oral pharmaceutical formulation; and

administering comprises orally administering.

7. The method of claim 5 , wherein,

the pharmaceutical composition is a transdermal pharmaceutical formulation; and

administering comprises transdermally administering.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the disease or disorder is ataxia.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the disease or disorder is selected from melanoma, glioma, and breast cancer.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the disease or disorder is depression.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the disease or disorder is drug addiction.

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein the disease or disorder is obsessive-compulsive disorder.
