Abstract

A wireless device receives, from a base station, one or more radio resource control messages indicating: a first mode in which the wireless device receives one or more sidelink grants for first sidelink transmissions; and a second mode in which the wireless device selects one or more sidelink resources for second sidelink transmissions. The wireless device triggers a sidelink scheduling request (SR) procedure based on sidelink data becoming available while operating in the first mode. A switch is made to the second mode for the second sidelink transmissions of the sidelink data in response to a failure of the sidelink SR procedure. The sidelink data is transmitted while operating in the second mode.

Claims (55)

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by a wireless device from a base station, one or more radio resource control messages indicating:

a first mode in which the wireless device receives one or more sidelink grants for first sidelink transmissions; and

a second mode in which the wireless device selects one or more sidelink resources for second sidelink transmissions;

triggering, by the wireless device, a sidelink scheduling request (SR) procedure based on sidelink data becoming available while operating in the first mode;

determining a failure of the sidelink SR procedure based on determining a non-configuration or a deactivation of a resource for transmission of a SR of the sidelink SR procedure;

switching to the second mode in response to the failure of the sidelink SR procedure; and

transmitting the sidelink data while operating in the second mode.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising triggering a transmission of a buffer status report in response to the sidelink data becoming available while operating in the first mode.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the triggering the sidelink SR procedure is in response to the triggering the transmission of the buffer status report.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving one or more second radio resource control (RRC) messages indicating:

a first sidelink resource pool associated with the first mode; and

a second sidelink resource pool associated with the second mode.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein the second sidelink resource pool is an exceptional resource pool, wherein the wireless device uses the exceptional resource pool during a handover procedure.

6. The method of claim 4 , wherein the second sidelink resource pool is the same as the first sidelink resource pool.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining a SR configuration corresponding to a logical channel of the sidelink data.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein determining the failure of the sidelink SR procedure further comprises determining that a valid physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resource for the sidelink SR procedure is not available.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein determining the non-configuration of the resource for transmission of the SR of the sidelink SR procedures comprises determining that a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resource for the sidelink SR procedure is not configured for the wireless device.

10. A wireless device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:

receive, from a base station, one or more radio resource control messages indicating:

a first mode in which the wireless device receives one or more sidelink grants for first sidelink transmissions; and

a second mode in which the wireless device selects one or more sidelink resources for second sidelink transmissions;

trigger, by the wireless device, a sidelink scheduling request (SR) procedure based on sidelink data becoming available while operating in the first mode;

determine a failure of the sidelink SR procedure based on determining a non-configuration or a deactivation of a resource for transmission of a SR of the sidelink SR procedure;

switch to the second mode in response to the failure of the sidelink SR procedure; and

transmit the sidelink data while operating in the second mode.

11. The wireless device of claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to trigger a transmission of a buffer status report in response to the sidelink data becoming available while operating in the first mode.

12. The wireless device of claim 11 , wherein the triggering the sidelink SR procedure is in response to the triggering the transmission of the buffer status report.

13. The wireless device of claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to receive one or more second radio resource control (RRC) messages indicating:

a first sidelink resource pool associated with the first mode; and

a second sidelink resource pool associated with the second mode.

14. The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the second sidelink resource pool is an exceptional resource pool, wherein the wireless device uses the exceptional resource pool during a handover procedure.

15. The wireless device of claim 13 , wherein the second sidelink resource pool is the same as the first sidelink resource pool.

16. The wireless device of claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to determine a SR configuration corresponding to a logical channel of the sidelink data.

The wireless device of claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to determine the non-configuration of the resource for transmission of the SR of the sidelink SR procedure based on determining that a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resource for the sidelink SR procedure is not configured for the wireless device.

The wireless device of claim 10 , wherein the instructions, when executed by the one or more processors, further cause the wireless device to determine the failure of the sidelink SR procedure based on determining that a valid physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resource for the sidelink SR procedure is not available.

19. A system comprising:

a wireless device; and

a base station comprising:

one or more first processors; and

first memory storing first instructions that, when executed by the one or more first processors, cause the base station to:

transmit one or more radio resource control messages indicating:

a first mode in which the wireless device receives one or more sidelink grants for first sidelink transmissions; and

a second mode in which the wireless device selects one or more sidelink resources for second sidelink transmissions; and

wherein the wireless device comprises:

one or more second processors;

second memory storing second instructions that, when executed by the one or more second processors, cause the wireless device to:

receive the one or more radio resource control messages;

trigger, by the wireless device, a sidelink scheduling request (SR) procedure based on sidelink data becoming available while operating in the first mode;

determine a failure of the sidelink SR procedure based on determining a non-configuration or a deactivation of a resource for transmission of a SR of the sidelink SR procedure;

switch to the second mode in response to the failure of the sidelink SR procedure; and

transmit the sidelink data while operating in the second mode.

20. The system of claim 19 , wherein the second instructions, when executed by the one or more second processors, further cause the wireless device to determine the failure of the sidelink SR procedure based on determining that a valid physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resource for the sidelink SR procedure is not available.
