Abstract

Method and apparatus for updating data descriptive of procedure within a structure to generate a user interface with a representation of the structure from a vantage point and according to a direction of interest. Data is generated by a sensor that records aspects of a procedure and a position of the condition is determined via wireless communications with multiple reference point transceivers. An augmented virtual model viewing interface is generated with positional coordinates and conditions related to the procedure.

Claims (33)

1. A method of updating data in a virtual model of a structure, the method comprising the steps of:

a) fixedly positioning two or more wireless transceivers to reference positions within the structure;

b) positioning a first sensor within the structure, said first sensor in logical communication with a first wireless positioning device capable of wireless communication with the two or more wireless transceivers;

c) wirelessly communicating between the two or more wireless transceivers and the first wireless positioning device to generate a first data set comprising a first transmission time and a first receipt time;

d) generating a first set of positional coordinates for the first sensor based upon the first data set at a first time period (T1);

e) with the first sensor, generating first data quantifying a first procedure conducted in the structure;

f) transmitting the first data set to a controller during T1;

g) positioning a second sensor within the structure, said second sensor in logical communication with a second wireless positioning device capable of wireless communication with the two or more wireless transceivers

h) with a second sensor, generating second data quantifying a second procedure in the structure during T2;

i) wirelessly communicating between the two or more wireless transceivers and the second wireless positioning device to generate a second data set comprising a second transmission time and a second receipt time;

j) generating a second set of positional coordinates for the second sensor based upon the second set of positional coordinates at T2;

k) operating a controller to associate the data quantifying a first procedure in the structure at T1 with the first set of positional coordinates and the data quantifying the second procedure in the structure at T2 with the second set of positional coordinates;

l) generating an augmented virtual model viewing interface comprising the data quantifying a first procedure in the structure at T1 and the data quantifying the second procedure in the structure at T2; and

m) transmitting the augmented virtual model viewing interface to a user smart device based upon a position and orientation direction of the user smart device.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the first sensor and the second sensor are the same and the first set of positional coordinates and the second set of positional coordinates comprise a first angular coordinate and a distance at a first time (T1).

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the first sensor and the second sensor are the same and the first set of positional coordinates and the second set of positional coordinates comprise a Cartesian Coordinates at a first time (T1).

4. The method of claim 3 additionally comprising the step of including in the augmented virtual model viewing interface an annotation from a first user.

5. The method of claim 4 wherein the annotation comprises a note from a first user to a subsequent user.

6. The method of claim 5 additionally comprising including text and image data in the annotation.

7. The method of claim 6 additionally comprising the steps of including in the viewer interface, components of the structure in the augmented virtual model.

8. The method of claim 7 additionally comprising the step of presenting the user interface on a smart device.

9. The method of claim 8 additionally comprising the step of displaying on the user interface a virtual representation of an area viewable from a vantage point of the smart device in a direction of interest.

10. The method of claim 4 wherein the step of wirelessly communicating between the two or more wireless transceivers and the first wireless positioning device to generate a first data set comprising a first transmission time and a first receipt time comprises communicating using a bandwidth of wavelengths between 6.765 MHz and 246 GHz.

11. The method of claim 4 wherein the step of wirelessly communicating between the two or more wireless transceivers and the first wireless positioning device to generate a first data set comprising a first transmission time and a first receipt time comprises communicating using WiFi.

12. The method of claim 4 wherein the step of wirelessly communicating between the two or more wireless transceivers and the first wireless positioning device to generate a first data set comprising a first transmission time and a first receipt time comprises communicating using Ultra-Wideband.

13. The method of claim 4 wherein the step of wirelessly communicating between the two or more wireless transceivers and the first wireless positioning device to generate a first data set comprising a first transmission time and a first receipt time comprises communicating using a Bluetooth communication.

14. The method of claim 4 additionally comprising the step of communicating a transmission based upon a value one or both of the first data quantifying a first procedure conducted in the structure and the second data quantifying a second procedure conducted in the structure.

15. The method of claim 2 wherein the first angular coordinate is a polar angle.

16. The method of claim 1 additionally comprising the step of displaying on the user interface a virtual representation of an area viewable from a vantage point of the smart device in a direction of interest quantified, at least in part via a magnetic directional indicator.

17. The method of claim 1 additionally comprising the step of displaying on the user interface a virtual representation of an area viewable from a vantage point of the smart device in a direction of interest determined, at least in part via an accelerometer.

18. The method of claim 1 additionally comprising the step of generating a direction of orientation of the smart device based upon positions of a third wireless position device and a fourth wireless position device, each of the third wireless position device and the fourth wireless position device in a fixed position relative to the smart device.

19. The method of claim 1 additionally comprising the step of determining a location of the smart device based upon wireless transmissions between the smart device and cellular towers.
