Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for treating gastrointestinal bleeding in a subject with severe von Willebrand Disease comprising administering to the subject at least one dose of recombinant von Willebrand Factor (rVWF) ranging from about 40 IU/kg to about 100 IU/kg, wherein the first dose further comprises recombinant Factor VIII (rFVIII).

Claims (20)

1. A method for treating mild or moderate gastrointestinal bleeding in a subject with severe von Willebrand Disease (VWD) comprising administering to the subject at least one dose of recombinant von Willebrand Factor (rVWF) each ranging from about 40 IU/kg to about 60 IU/kg, wherein the first dose further comprises recombinant Factor VIII (rFVIII) ranging from about 20 to about 50 IU/kg.

2. The method of treatment of claim 1 , wherein the second dose of rVWF does not comprise rFVIII.

3. The method of treatment of claim 1 , wherein said rVWF is administered every 8 to 12 hours.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the subject is administered one dose of rVWF.

5. The method of treatment of claim 1 , wherein said subject has Type 3 VWD.

6. The method of treatment of claim 1 , wherein said subject has severe Type 1 VWD.

7. The method of treatment of claim 1 , wherein said subject has severe Type 2 VWD.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the subject had been treated for at least 1 bleeding event within the previous 12 months.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the subject had been treated for more than 1 bleeding event within the previous 12 months.

10. The method of treatment of claim 1 , wherein said rVWF and said rFVIII are administered sequentially.

11. A method for treating major or severe gastrointestinal bleeding in a subject with severe von Willebrand Disease (VWD) comprising administering to the subject at least one dose of recombinant von Willebrand Factor (rVWF) each ranging from up to about 80 IU/kg, wherein the first dose further comprises recombinant Factor VIII (rFVIII) ranging from about 20 to about 40 IU/kg.

12. The method of treatment of claim 11 , wherein the second dose of rVWF does not comprise rFVIII.

13. The method of treatment of claim 11 , wherein said rVWF is administered every 8 to 12 hours.

14. The method of claim 11 , wherein the subject is administered a single dose of rVWF.

15. The method of treatment of claim 11 , wherein said subject has Type 3 VWD.

16. The method of treatment of claim 11 , wherein said subject has severe Type 1 VWD.

17. The method of treatment of claim 11 , wherein said subject has severe Type 2 VWD.

18. The method of claim 11 , wherein the subject had been treated for at least 1 bleeding event within the previous 12 months.

19. The method of claim 11 , wherein the subject had been treated for more than 1 bleeding event within the previous 12 months.

20. The method of treatment of claim 11 , wherein said rVWF and said rFVIII are administered sequentially.
