Abstract

Embodiments of the present concept provide an electronic gaming device that facilitates wagering by multiple players on a single gaming device. Also provided is a method of sharing game play on such a gaming device, where the method includes receiving a wager from a first player at a first gaming station, receiving a wager from a second player at a second gaming station, initiating a gaming event that is displayed at the first and second gaming stations, and awarding prizes associated with gaming outcomes displayed at the first and second gaming stations.

Claims (49)

1. A method of sharing game play on at least two electronic video poker gaming devices each having at least one processor, the method comprising:

receiving a first wager via a first one of the electronic video poker gaming devices from a first player at a first gaming station;

receiving a second wager via a second one of the electronic video poker gaming devices from a second player at a second gaming station;

initiating responsive to an input received from the first player at the electronic video poker gaming device, via a processor, a first game on the first gaming device, the first game being displayed at least on a first display associated with the first gaming device and generating a first game outcome comprising a plurality of cards drawn from a first deck;

initiating responsive to an input received from the second player at the electronic video poker gaming device, via a processor, a second game separate from the first game on the second gaming device, the second game being displayed on a second display associated with the second gaming device and generating a second game outcome comprising a plurality of cards drawn from a second deck;

providing each player with a first wagering option in which a wager associated with the first wagering option is allocated to the better of the first game outcome and the second game outcome responsive to selection of the first wagering option by the player;

allocating, via a processor, at least a first portion of the first wager to the first wagering option responsive to an input received from the first player at the electronic gaming device;

providing each player with a second wagering option in which a wager associated with the second wagering option is allocated to the second game outcome responsive to selection of the second wagering option by the player;

allocating at least a second portion of the first wager to the second wagering option responsive to an input received from the first player at the electronic gaming device;

substantially synchronizing the outcomes of the first and second games;

determining which of the game outcomes is the better outcome;

if the first game outcome is the better outcome, awarding a prize associated with the first game outcome to the first player and awarding any prize associated with the second game outcome to the first and second players; and

if the second game outcome is the better outcome, awarding a prize associated with the second game outcome to both the first player and the second player.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

allocating at least a third portion of the first wager to the first game outcome; and

awarding a prize to the first player resulting from the first game outcome.

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising displaying the first and second game outcomes to each of the players.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the first and second gaming stations are contained within a common cabinet.

5. The method of claim 4 wherein the first and second displays are contained on a common display screen.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the first and second displays are each contained on respective first and second display screens.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein the method further comprises receiving at least one additional wager via at least one additional electronic video poker gaming device from at least one additional player at least one additional gaming station.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein the first and second players are seated in a double seat.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein initiating the first and second games includes:

displaying a first video poker hand dealt at the first gaming station; and

displaying a second video poker hand dealt at the second gaming station.

10. A method of sharing game play on at least two electronic video poker gaming devices each having at least one processor, the method comprising:

receiving a first wager via a first one of the electronic video poker gaming devices from a first player at a first gaming station;

receiving a second wager via a second one of the electronic video poker gaming devices from a second player at a second gaming station;

initiating responsive to an input received from the first player at the first electronic video poker gaming device, via a processor, a first game on the first gaming device, the first game being displayed at least on a first display associated with the first gaming device and generating a first game outcome comprising a plurality of cards drawn from a first deck;

initiating responsive to an input received from the second player at the second electronic video poker gaming device, via a processor, a second game separate from the first game on the second gaming device, the second game being displayed on a second display associated with the second gaming device and generating a second game outcome comprising a plurality of cards drawn from a second deck;

providing each player with a first wagering option in which a wager associated with the first wagering option is allocated to the better of the first game outcome and the second game outcome responsive to selection of the first wagering option by the player;

providing each player with a second wagering option in which a wager associated with the second wagering option is allocated to the second game outcome responsive to selection of the second wagering option by the player;

allocating, via a processor, at least a first portion of the first wager to the second wagering option responsive to an input received from the first player at the electronic gaming device;

allocating, via a processor, at least a second portion of the first wager to the first wagering option responsive to an input received from the first player at the electronic gaming device;

substantially synchronizing the outcomes of the first and second games;

awarding a prize to the first player resulting from the second game outcome and the better of the first and second game outcomes; and

awarding a prize to the second player resulting from the second game outcome.

11. The method of claim 10 further comprising:

allocating at least a third portion of the first wager to the first game outcome; and

awarding a prize to the first player resulting from the first game outcome.

12. The method of claim 10 , wherein initiating the first and second games includes:

displaying a first video poker hand dealt at the first gaming station; and

displaying a second video poker hand dealt at the second gaming station.

13. The method of claim 10 further comprising displaying the first and second game outcomes to each of the players.

14. The method of claim 10 wherein the first and second gaming stations are contained within a common cabinet.

15. The method of claim 14 wherein the first and second displays are contained on a common display screen.

16. The method of claim 10 wherein the first and second displays are each contained on a respective first and second display screens.

17. The method of claim 10 wherein the method further comprises receiving at least one additional wager via at least one additional electronic video poker gaming device from at least one additional player at least one additional gaming station.

18. The method of claim 10 wherein the first and second players are seated in a double seat.
