Abstract

Various embodiments of systems, apparatus, and/or methods are described for integrating a broadcast media stream with media streams from one or more amateur sources. In one implementation, a method includes receiving, at a stream integrator, one or more user media streams captured by one or more user capture devices, receiving a broadcast stream from a broadcast provider, selecting at least one of the one or more user media streams based on one or more parameters, and integrating one or more of the selected user media streams into the broadcast stream.

Claims (52)

1. A method, comprising:

receiving a broadcast stream from a broadcast provider;

selecting, by a stream integrator, a set of user media streams from multiple user media streams, captured by multiple user capture devices, based at least in part on data indicating a relationship between the user media streams and one or more people in the broadcast stream;

receiving, at the stream integrator, a plurality of user selections of user media streams from a plurality of user interface devices;

summing, by the stream integrator, the number of user selections received for each media stream of the set of user media streams;

selecting, by the stream integrator, at least one of the set of user media streams based on the sum of user selections received for each media stream of the set of user media streams exceeding a threshold number selected by a user of a first presentation device;

integrating the at least one of the set of user media streams into the broadcast stream, wherein integrating the at least one of the set of user media streams includes generating the broadcast stream and the at least one of the set of user media streams for display on the first presentation device;

receiving, at the stream integrator, a user selection of the at least one of the set of user media streams; and

generating, by the stream integrator, the at least one of the set of user media streams for display at a second presentation device, the second presentation device being different from the first presentation device.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein generating the at least one of the set of user media streams for display at the second presentation device includes:

presenting an option on the first presentation device for rendering the at least one of the set of user media streams for display on the second presentation device, and

receiving a user selection of the option to render the at least one of the set of user media stream for display on the second presentation device.

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

receiving, at the stream integrator, a list of presentation devices that the user prefers to stream any media stream from the set of user media streams or the broadcast stream.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the set of user media streams and the broadcast stream include content associated with a same event.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein selecting the set of user media streams is based at least in part on one or more user parameters including a location of the set of user media streams, content of the set of user media streams, keywords associated with the set of user media streams, a number of votes that each of the set of user media streams has received, or a combination thereof.

6. The method of claim 5 further comprising:

comparing, by the stream integrator, the one or more user parameters with one or more broadcast parameters associated with the broadcast stream; and

selecting, by the stream integrator, the at least one of the set of user media streams based on the comparison.

7. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium comprising a set of instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause a machine to:

receive a broadcast stream from a broadcast provider;

select a set of user media streams from multiple user media streams, captured by multiple user capture devices, based at least in part on data indicating a relationship between the user media streams and one or more people in the broadcast stream;

receive a plurality of user selections of user media streams from a plurality of user interface devices;

sum the number of user selections received for each media stream of the set of user media streams;

select at least one of the set of user media streams based on the sum of user selections received for each media stream of the set of user media streams exceeding a threshold number selected by a user of a first presentation device;

integrate the at least one of the set of user media streams into the broadcast stream, wherein integrating the at least one of the set of user media streams includes generating the broadcast stream and the at least one of the set of user media streams for display on the first presentation device;

receive a user selection of the at least one of the set of user media streams; and

generate the at least one of the set of user media streams for display at a second presentation device, the second presentation device being different from the first presentation device.

8. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 7 , wherein the set of user media streams and the broadcast stream include content associated with a same event.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 7 , wherein selecting the set of user media streams is based at least in part on one or more user parameters including a location of the set of user media streams, content of the set of user media streams, keywords associated with the set of user media streams, a number of votes that each of the set of user media streams has received, or a combination thereof.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 9 , further comprising instructions to:

compare the one or more user parameters with one or more broadcast parameters associated with the broadcast stream; and

select the at least one of the set of user media streams based on the comparison.

11. A stream integration system, comprising:

one or more processors; and

one or memory devices comprising instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the system to:

receive a broadcast stream from a broadcast provider;

select, at a stream integrator, a set of user media streams from multiple user media streams, captured by multiple user capture devices, based at least in part on data indicating a relationship between the user media streams and one or more people in the broadcast stream;

receive, at the stream integrator, a plurality of user selections of user media streams from a plurality of user interface devices;

sum, by the stream integrator, the number of user selections received for each media stream of the set of user media streams;

select, by the stream integrator, at least one of the set of user media streams based on the sum of user selections received for each media stream of the set of user media streams exceeding a threshold number selected by a user of a first presentation device;

integrate the at least one of the set of user media streams into the broadcast stream, wherein integrating the at least one of the set of user media streams includes generating the broadcast stream and at least one of the set of user media streams for display on the first presentation device;

receive a user selection of the at least one of the set of user media streams; and

render the at least one of the set of user media stream for display at a second presentation device, wherein the second presentation device is different from the first presentation device.

12. The stream integration system of claim 11 , wherein the set of user media streams and the broadcast stream include content associated with a same event.

13. The stream integration system of claim 11 , wherein selecting the set of user media streams is based at least in part on one or more user parameters including a location of the set of user media streams, content of the set of user media streams, keywords associated with the set of user media streams, a number of votes that each of the set of user media streams has received, or a combination thereof.

14. The stream integration system of claim 13 , further comprising instructions to:

compare the one or more user parameters with one or more broadcast parameters associated with the broadcast stream; and

select the at least one of the set of user media streams based on the comparison.

15. The stream integration system of claim 11 , further comprising instructions to generate one or more pop-up windows of the at least one of the set of user media streams overlaying the broadcast stream.

16. The stream integration system of claim 11 , further comprising instructions to generate a list of the set of user media streams.

17. The stream integration system of claim 11 , further comprising instructions to replace the broadcast stream with the at least one of the set of user media streams.
