Abstract

The present disclosure provides insulated assemblies for electronics packaging, the assemblies in some embodiments including an electrical connection extending through a tube that extends through an insulating vacuum space.

Claims (27)

1 . A container, comprising:

a multiwall vessel comprising inner and outer walls,

the multiwall vessel defining a volume enclosed within the inner wall, and

the multiwall vessel defining a sealed region of sub-atmospheric pressure being disposed between the inner and outer walls of the multiwall vessel;

a stopper,

the stopper being disposed such that at least a portion of the cap resides within the volume enclosed by the inner wall of the vessel,

the stopper being insertable into the multiwall vessel, and

the stopper defining a region of reduced pressure disposed within the stopper.

2 . The container of claim 1 , wherein the stopper is characterized as being electrically conductive.

3 . The container of claim 1 , wherein the stopper comprises a cap sealed to a cap plug such that the region of reduced pressure is disposed therein.

4 . The container of claim 1 , further comprising at least one cap tube having a lumen therein, the cap tube extending through the stopper so as to place the volume enclosed within the inner wall of the multiwall vessel into fluid communication with the environment exterior to the stopper.

5 . The container of claim 4 , wherein the lumen of the cap tube defines a diameter of from about 0.01 cm to about 1 cm.

6 . The container of claim 4 , further comprising a conductive connector extending through the lumen into the volume enclosed within the inner wall of the multiwall vessel.

7 . The container of claim 4 , further comprising an insulating material disposed within the lumen.

8 . The container of claim 7 , wherein the insulating material comprises glass, a ceramic, or a rubber.

9 . The container of claim 3 , wherein the cap plug is affixed to the multiwall vessel by brazing, welding, adhesive, press-fitting, or interference fitting.

10 . The container of claim 1 , wherein the container is characterized as being cylindrical.

11 . The container of claim 1 , further comprising at least one of an electronic device and an energy storage device disposed within the volume within the inner wall of the multiwall vessel.

12 . The container of claim 1 , wherein the container has an aspect ratio in the range of from about 1:100 to about 100:1.

13 . The container of claim 1 , wherein the stopper comprises a protrusion sized and shaped so as to allow the container to engage with a battery compartment of an electronic device.

14 . The container of claim 1 , wherein the stopper defines a volume and wherein the region of reduced pressure disposed within the stopper occupies from about 1 to about 99% of the volume of the stopper.

15 . The container of claim 14 , wherein the region of reduced pressure disposed within the stopper occupies from about 30 to about 70% of the volume of the stopper.

16 . The container of claim 1 , further comprising a resilient member disposed within the multiwall vessel, the resilient member configured to exert a device disposed within the multiwall vessel toward the stopper.

17 . The container of claim 17 , wherein the resilient member comprises a coil spring, a leaf spring, or an elastomer.

18 . The container of claim 1 , further comprising an amount of an insulator disposed between the stopper and the multiwall vessel.

19 . The container of claim 18 , wherein the insulator comprises a dielectric material.

20 . The container of claim 19 , wherein the dielectric material comprises polymer, a mineral, an oxide, a nitride, an oxynitride, or any combination thereof.
