Abstract

Systems and methods are described herein for controlling a smart glass display based on environmental conditions. The smart glass display may be configured for presenting a media asset. Further, the smart glass display is configured with a transparent display function that adjusts the presentation of the media asset based on the environmental conditions. The smart glass display may identify environmental information and determine a hazard based on the environmental information. Further, a smart glass display may observe the user's eye movement and may execute a specific function corresponding to the user's eye movement.

Claims (39)

1. A computer-implemented method for displaying a media asset to a user in relative motion on a smart glass display, the method comprising:

identifying illuminance information about light projecting onto the smart glass display;

causing to be presented the media asset on the smart glass display based on the identified illuminance information about the light projection;

determining whether the illuminance exceeds a predetermined threshold;

in response to detecting the illuminance exceeds the predetermined threshold, determining a geographic location of the user and information about relative motion of the user;

determining, using control circuitry, existence of a potentially hazardous situation involving the user based on the geographic location of the user and the information about the relative motion of the user, wherein the potentially hazardous situation is distinct from a potential change in illuminance information; and

in response to determining the existence of the potentially hazardous situation involving the user based on the geographic location of the user and the information about the relative motion of the user, pausing the presentation of the media asset on the smart glass display.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining the existence of the potentially hazardous situation involving the user is further based on the geographic location of the user and the information about the relative motion of the user comprising one or more selected from: the user's position on a map, type of movement, speed, and eyelid motions.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein pausing the presentation of the media asset on the smart glass display comprises adjusting a light transporting the media asset on the smart glass display.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying the media asset on a transparent display area of the smart glass display, such that the media asset is overlaid on the transparent display area visible through the smart glass display.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

adjusting an opacity of the smart glass display to maintain the presentation of the media asset in response to information about the light projecting onto the smart glass display exceeding a threshold.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the potentially hazardous situation comprises one or more of: an intersection, a stop sign, a traffic indication on a map, an emergency warning, a high-traffic road and a ground hazard.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the smart glass display is disposed within one or more lenses of smart glasses and supported by a frame.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the smart glass display is voice-controlled.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein the smart glass display is controlled by movement of an eye pupil.

10. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining a viewing angle of an eye; and

aligning a location of the media asset on the smart glass display based on the viewing angle of the eye.

11. A system for displaying a media asset to a user in relative motion on a smart glass display, the system comprising:

a control circuitry configured to:

identify illuminance information about light projecting onto the smart glass display;

cause to be presented the media asset on the smart glass display based on the identified illuminance information about the light projection;

determine whether the illuminance exceeds a predetermined threshold;

in response to detecting the illuminance exceeds a threshold, determine a geographic location of the user and information about relative motion of the user;

determine existence of a potentially hazardous situation involving the user based on the geographic location of the user and the information about the relative motion of the user, wherein the potentially hazardous situation is distinct from a potential change in illuminance information; and

in response to determining the existence of the potentially hazardous situation involving the user based on the geographic location of the user and the information about the relative motion of the user, pause the presentation of the media asset on the smart glass display.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the geographic location of the user and the information about the relative motion of the user comprise one or more selected from: the user's position on a map, type of movement, speed, and eyelid motions.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is configured to pause presentation of the media asset on the smart glass display by:

adjust a light transporting the media asset on the smart glass display.

14. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to display the media asset on a transparent display area of the smart glass display, such that the media asset is overlaid on the transparent display area visible through the smart glass display.

15. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to adjust an opacity of the smart glass display to maintain the presentation of the media asset in response to information about the light projecting onto the smart glass display exceeding a threshold.

16. The system of claim 11 , wherein the potentially hazardous situation comprises one or more of: an intersection, a stop sign, a traffic indication on a map, an emergency warning, a high-traffic road and a ground hazard.

17. The system of claim 11 , wherein the smart glass display is disposed within one or more lenses of smart glasses and supported by a frame.

18. The system of claim 11 , wherein the smart glass display is voice-controlled.

19. The system of claim 11 , wherein the smart glass display is controlled by movement of an eye pupil.

20. The system of claim 11 , wherein the control circuitry is further configured to:

determine a viewing angle of an eye; and

align a location of the media asset on the smart glass display based on the viewing angle of the eye.
