Abstract

Systems, methods, and other embodiments associated with output production are described. One example system comprises an analysis component configured to analyze a data set to produce an evaluation result. The system also comprises a production component configured to produce a rendered output based, at least in part, on the evaluation result, where the rendered output is stored in a computer-readable medium.

Claims (20)

1. A method of improving a racing video game simulation experience, said racing video game being played on a system including at least one processor with each of at least one player input device, at least one memory containing play and display alteration algorithms, and at least one output display device in operable communication with the at least one processor, the method comprising:

a provision step of providing to the at least one processor a base video game map;

an analysis step of having the at least one processor analyze said video game map in preparation for rendering a rendered map for output;

an identification step whereby the at least one processor identifies a racing surface of a racing circuit within the provided video game map;

a division step whereby the at least one processor divides the racing surface into discrete portions;

a determination step whereby the at least one processor determines a first temperature for a first portion of the racing surface and a second temperature for a second portion of the racing surface;

a modification step in which the at least one processor causes the first portion of the racing surface to implement with the first temperature and the second portion of the racing surface to implement with the second temperature;

a rendering step whereby the at least one processor renders the rendered map utilizing the base video game map;

a display step whereby the rendered map is displayed on the at least one display device; and

an input step wherein play data is received by the at least one processor through the at least one player input;

wherein the first portion of the racing surface being at the first temperature, coupled with play data, causes a vehicle of the racing video game to have a first response to an action and the second portion of the racing surface being at the second temperature, coupled with play data, causes the vehicle of the racing video game to have a second response to the action, as determined by the processor according to the play and display algorithms contained in the memory, and due to a difference between the first temperature and the second temperature, the first response and the second response are not identical, thereby improving realism of the simulation experience throughout gameplay.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

a monitoring step whereby operation of the vehicle as the vehicle traverses the racing surface is monitored and evaluated by the processor; and

an evaluation step whereby the processor evaluates the operation according to the play and display algorithms stored in the at least one memory to produce an evaluation result;

wherein a change to the first temperature based, at least in part, on the evaluation result and the first portion of the racing surface is implemented with the changed first temperature which is different than the first temperature.

The method of claim 2 , wherein the first portion of the racing surface is implemented with the changed first temperature without a change to the second portion of the racing surface and wherein operation of the vehicle causes virtual rubber to be placed on the racing surface that impacts performance of the vehicle.

The method of claim 2 , wherein the vehicle is a first vehicle, the racing video game session is an online racing video game session between at least a first player playing at a first gaming apparatus and a second player playing at a second gaming apparatus, the first player controlling the first vehicle, the second player controlling a second vehicle, and action by the second vehicle produces a first response when the racing surface is at the first temperature and produces a second response when the racing surface is at the changed first temperature, and where the first response and the second response are not identical.

The method of claim 2 , where the vehicle is a first vehicle, the racing video game session is a racing video game session between at least a first player and a second player playing at a gaming apparatus with the first player controls the first vehicle, the second player controls a second vehicle and an action by the second vehicle produces a first response when the racing surface is at the first temperature and produces a second response when the racing surface is at the changed first temperature, and where the first response and the second response are not identical.

The method of claim 2 , wherein the vehicle is a gaming-apparatus controlled vehicle, the racing video game session is a racing video game session between at least a player-controlled vehicle and the gaming apparatus controlled vehicle, an action by the player-controlled vehicle produces a first response when the racing surface is at the first temperature and a second response when the racing surface is at the changed first temperature, and where the first response and the second response are different.

The method of claim 2 , wherein the first temperature is derived, at least in part, from a first level of virtual sun exposure to the first portion and the changed first temperature is derived, at least in part, from a second level of virtual sun exposure to the second portion, and where the first level of virtual sun exposure and the second level of virtual sun exposure are not identical.
