Abstract

A system for an electrophotographic image forming device includes a basket having a first side, a second side and a plurality of positioning slots extending between the first side and the second side, each positioning slot is configured to receive a corresponding toner cartridge. Each positioning slot includes a first latch at the first side of the basket and a second latch at the second side of the basket. Each of the first and second latches is independently pivotable between a latched position for applying a hold-down force on a respective end portion of a corresponding toner cartridge positioned in a corresponding positioning slot of the plurality of positioning slots to rigidly hold the corresponding toner cartridge against datums of the basket and an unlatched position to release the corresponding toner cartridge permitting removal of the corresponding toner cartridge from the basket.

Claims (25)

1. A system for an electrophotographic image forming device, comprising:

a basket having a first side, a second side and a plurality of positioning slots extending between the first side and the second side, each positioning slot is configured to receive a corresponding toner cartridge; and

each positioning slot includes a first latch at the first side of the basket and a second latch at the second side of the basket, each of the first and second latches is independently pivotable between a latched position for applying a hold-down force on a respective end portion of a corresponding toner cartridge positioned in a corresponding positioning slot of the plurality of positioning slots to rigidly hold the corresponding toner cartridge against datums of the basket and an unlatched position to release the corresponding toner cartridge permitting removal of the corresponding toner cartridge from the basket,

wherein each of the first and second latches includes a hold-down and a biasing member biasing the hold-down downward against the respective end portion of the corresponding toner cartridge when the first and second latches are in the latched positions,

wherein at least one of the hold-downs of the first and second latches is translatable along a biasing direction of the biasing member.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein each positioning slot includes a first V-block at the first side of the basket and a second V-block at the second side of the basket, each of the first and second V-blocks is unobstructed from above permitting a first end of the corresponding toner cartridge to contact and sit in the first V-block and a second end of the corresponding toner cartridge to contact and sit in the second V-block when the corresponding toner cartridge is installed in the positioning slot.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein each first latch biases the first end of the corresponding toner cartridge against the first V-block and each second latch biases the second end of the corresponding toner cartridge against the second V-block when the first and second latches are in the latched positions.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein each of the first latches of the plurality of positioning slots is pivotable about a respective pivot axis along the first side of the basket and each of the second latches of the plurality of positioning slots is pivotable about a respective pivot axis along the second side of the basket.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the hold-downs of the first and second latches includes a pivotable bell-crank rotatably biased by the biasing member.

6. A system for an electrophotographic image forming device, comprising:

a basket having a plurality of positioning slots each configured to receive a corresponding toner cartridge; and

a first latch positioned at a first end of each positioning slot and a second latch positioned at a second end of each positioning slot opposite the respective first end of said positioning slot, each of the first and second latches is manually movable between a latched position and an unlatched position, each positioning slot is unobstructed from above permitting the positioning slot to receive a corresponding toner cartridge when the first and second latches are in the unlatched positions, the first and second latches apply hold-down forces on the corresponding toner cartridge positioned in the corresponding positioning slot of the plurality of positioning slots when the first and second latches are in the latched positions,

wherein each of the first and second latches includes a hold-down and a biasing member biasing the hold-down downward against the corresponding toner cartridge when the first and second latches are in the latched positions,

wherein at least one of the hold-downs of the first and second latches is translatable along a biasing direction of the biasing member.

7. The system of claim 6 , wherein each of the first and second latches is independently movable between the latched position and the unlatched position.

8. The system of claim 6 , wherein each of the first and second latches is movable by direct manual actuation between the latched position and the unlatched position.

9. The system of claim 6 , wherein each of the first and second latches is pivotable between the latched position and the unlatched position.

10. The system of claim 6 , further comprising a first V-block at the first end of each positioning slot and a second V-block at the second end of each positioning slot, each of the first and second V-blocks is unobstructed from above permitting a first end of the corresponding toner cartridge to contact and sit in the first V-block and a second end of the corresponding toner cartridge to contact and sit in the second V-block when the corresponding toner cartridge is installed in the positioning slot.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein each first latch biases the first end of the corresponding toner cartridge against the first V-block and each second latch biases the second end of the corresponding toner cartridge against the second V-block when the first and second latches are in the latched positions.

12. The system of claim 6 , wherein at least one of the hold-downs of the first and second latches includes a pivotable bell-crank rotatably biased by the biasing member.

13. A system for an electrophotographic image forming device, comprising:

a basket having a first side, a second side and a plurality of positioning slots extending between the first side and the second side, each positioning slot is configured to receive a corresponding toner cartridge; and

each positioning slot includes a first latch at the first side of the basket and a second latch at the second side of the basket, each of the first and second latches is independently pivotable between a latched position for applying a hold-down force on a respective end portion of a corresponding toner cartridge positioned in a corresponding positioning slot of the plurality of positioning slots to rigidly hold the corresponding toner cartridge against datums of the basket and an unlatched position to release the corresponding toner cartridge permitting removal of the corresponding toner cartridge from the basket,

wherein each of the first latches of the plurality of positioning slots is pivotable about a respective pivot axis that extends along the first side of the basket and each of the second latches of the plurality of positioning slots is pivotable about a respective pivot axis that extends along the second side of the basket.

14. The system of claim 13 , wherein each of the respective pivot axes of the first latches extends along the first side of the basket in an insertion direction of the basket into the image forming device and each of the respective pivot axes of the second latches extends along the second side of the basket in the insertion direction of the basket into the image forming device.
