Abstract

An insurance computing device is provided. The insurance computing device may include a processor and a memory. The processor may be programmed to receive a registration request from a vehicle computing device associated with a vehicle and/or a covered parking location (CPL) computing device associated with a covered parking location, generate a usage profile associated with at least one of the vehicle and the covered parking location, monitor the vehicle computing device and/or the CPL computing device for any requests to reserve an available parking spot of the covered parking location, update the usage profile, determine if an insurance policy associated with the vehicle and/or the covered parking location is eligible for insurance-related benefits based upon the usage profile.

1. An insurance computing device comprising a processor and a memory, wherein the processor is programmed to:

continuously monitor a weather in a region by receiving weather data of the region that includes at least one of current weather data or predicted weather data;

determine from the weather data that the region will experience inclement weather within a predetermined time;

determine that a vehicle having a vehicle computing device registered with the insurance computing device is located within the region prior to the predetermined time;

identify, using location identifiers associated with a plurality of covered parking locations, one or more of the plurality of covered parking locations located nearby the region and having at least one parking space available for parking the vehicle during the inclement weather, each of the one or more covered parking locations having a covered parking location (CPL) computing device associated therewith;

transmit, to the vehicle computing device, information relating to the one or more identified covered parking locations including a location identifier of each of the one or more identified covered parking locations;

receive, from the vehicle computing device and a respective CPL computing device, a notification message indicating the vehicle accessed one of the one or more covered parking locations for parking within the at least one parking space available; and

update an insurance policy associated with the vehicle based on the notification message.

2. The insurance computing device of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to apply, based on the notification message, eligible insurance-related benefits to the insurance policy associated with the vehicle and an insurance policy associated with the one of the one or more covered parking locations.

3. The insurance computing device of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to:

receive a registration request from the vehicle computing device and at least one CPL computing device associated with a corresponding one of the one or more covered parking locations; and

register the vehicle computing device and the at least one CPL computing device, wherein registering the vehicle computing device includes identifying the vehicle and the insurance policy associated with the vehicle, and wherein registering the at least one CPL computing device includes identifying the corresponding one of the one or more covered parking locations and an insurance policy associated with the corresponding one of the one or more covered parking locations.

4. The insurance computing device of claim 3 , wherein the registration request from the vehicle computing device includes a vehicle user profile.

5. The insurance computing device of claim 3 , wherein the registration request from the at least one CPL computing device includes a location identifier of the corresponding one of the one or more covered parking locations and a communication address of the at least one CPL computing device.

6. The insurance computing device of claim 5 , wherein the processor is further programmed to transmit the communication address to the vehicle computing device.

7. The insurance computing device of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to generate a vehicle usage profile with the vehicle, wherein the vehicle usage profile includes a frequency of the vehicle being affected by inclement weather and a frequency of the vehicle being parked at a protected parking location during inclement weather.

8. The insurance computing device of claim 7 , wherein the processor is further programmed to transmit, in response to receiving a request to reserve an available parking space within the one or more covered parking locations, the vehicle usage profile to at least one CPL computing device associated with the one or more covered parking locations.

9. The insurance computing device of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further programmed to generate a CPL usage profile with each of the one or more covered parking locations, wherein the CPL usage profile includes a frequency of each covered parking location permitting one or more vehicles to park in each respective covered parking location during inclement weather.

10. A computer-implemented method using an insurance computing device including a processor and a memory, the method comprising:

continuously monitoring a weather in a region by receiving weather data of the region that includes at least one of current weather data or predicted weather data;

determining from the weather data that the region will experience inclement weather within a predetermined time;

determining that a vehicle having a vehicle computing device registered with the insurance computing device is located within the region prior to the predetermined time;

identifying, using location identifiers associated with a plurality of covered parking locations, one or more of the plurality of covered parking locations located nearby the region and having at least one parking space available for parking the vehicle during the inclement weather, each of the one or more covered parking locations having a covered parking location (CPL) computing device associated therewith;

transmitting, to the vehicle computing device, information relating to the one or more identified covered parking locations including a location identifier of each of the one or more identified covered parking locations;

receiving, from the vehicle computing device and a respective CPL computing device, a notification message indicating the vehicle accessed one of the one or more covered parking locations for parking within the at least one parking space available; and

updating an insurance policy associated with the vehicle based on the notification message.

11. The method of claim 10 further comprising applying, based on the notification message, eligible insurance-related benefits to the insurance policy associated with the vehicle and an insurance policy associated with the one of the one or more covered parking locations.

12. The method of claim 10 further comprising:

receiving a registration request from the vehicle computing device and at least one CPL computing device associated with a corresponding one of the one or more covered parking locations; and

registering the vehicle computing device and the at least one CPL computing device, wherein registering the vehicle computing device includes identifying the vehicle and the insurance policy associated with the vehicle, and wherein registering the at least one CPL computing device includes identifying the corresponding one of the one or more covered parking locations and an insurance policy associated with the corresponding one of the one or more covered parking locations.

13. The method of claim 12 , wherein the registration request from the vehicle computing device includes a vehicle user profile.

14. The method of claim 12 , wherein the registration request from the at least one CPL computing device includes a location identifier of the corresponding one of the one or more covered parking locations and a communication address of the at least one CPL computing device.

15. The method of claim 10 further comprising generating a vehicle usage profile with the vehicle, wherein the vehicle usage profile includes a frequency of the vehicle being affected by inclement weather and a frequency of the vehicle being parked at a protected parking location during inclement weather.

16. The method of claim 10 further comprising generating a CPL usage profile with each of the one or more covered parking locations, wherein the CPL usage profile includes a frequency of each covered parking location permitting one or more vehicles to park in each respective covered parking location during inclement weather.

17. One or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media having computer-executable instructions embodied thereon, wherein when executed by at least one processor included in an insurance computing device, the computer-executable instructions cause the at least one processor to:

continuously monitor a weather in a region by receiving weather data of the region that includes at least one of current weather data or predicted weather data;

determine from the weather data that the region will experience inclement weather within a predetermined time;

determine that a vehicle having a vehicle computing device registered with the insurance computing device is located within the region prior to the predetermined time;
