Abstract

A charging system includes ultrawide band (UWB) beacons disposed within a region, configured to receive signals from a UWB emitting device, wherein each UWB beacon is configured to determine a unique timestamp associated with the signals from the UWB emitting device, a processing unit coupled to the UWB beacons configured to receive unique timestamps from each UWB beacon, is configured to determine a plurality of three-dimensional positions of the UWB emitting device within the region in response to the unique timestamps, and a power unit coupled to the processing unit, configured to direct an energy power signal to the UWB emitting device in response to the plurality of three-dimensional positions of the UWB emitting device within the region, wherein the plurality of three-dimensional positions have different x, y and z positions.

4 . The device of claim 1 further comprising:

a proximity sensor configured to determine when the UWB emitting device is within a predetermined distance of the proximity sensor; and

wherein the power unit is configured to direct the energy power signal to the UWB emitting device is also in response to the UWB emitting device being within the predetermined distance of the proximity sensor.

5 . The device of claim 1

wherein the power unit comprises a power controller and a plurality of energy power broadcast devices;

wherein the power unit is configured to adjust power parameters of the plurality of energy power broadcast devices in response to the plurality of three-dimensional positions of the UWB emitting device.

6 . The device of claim 5 wherein the plurality of energy power broadcast devices comprises a phased array of devices.

7 . The device of claim 1 wherein the energy power signal is selected from a group consisting of: laser light, radio frequency signals, microwave frequency signals, magnetic fields, and heat.

8 . The device of claim 1 wherein the processing unit is configured to provide a time stamp to each of the plurality of UWB beacons.

9 . The device of claim 1

wherein at least one of the UWB beacons is configured to receive a token from the UWB emitting device;

wherein the processing unit is configured to determine whether the token is valid;

wherein the processing unit is configured to output the plurality of three-dimensional positions of the UWB emitting device to the power unit in response to the token being determined to be valid.

10 . The device of claim 9

wherein at least one of the UWB beacons is configured to provide an identifier to the UWB emitting device; and

wherein the token is determined in response to the identifier.

11 . A method for a system comprising:

receiving with a plurality of ultrawide band (UWB) beacons disposed in known geographic locations within a region, a plurality of signals from a UWB emitting device;

determining with the plurality of UWB beacons a unique timestamp associated with each of the plurality of signals from the UWB emitting device in response to the plurality of signals;

receiving in a processing unit coupled to the plurality of UWB beacons, the unique timestamps associated with the plurality of signals for each UWB beacon;

determining in the processing unit a plurality of three-dimensional positions of the UWB emitting device within the region in response to the known geographic locations of the plurality of UWB beacons and in response to the unique timestamps; and

directing with the processing unit a power unit to provide an energy power signal to the UWB emitting device in response to the plurality of three-dimensional positions of the UWB emitting device within the region, wherein the plurality of three-dimensional positions have different x, y and z positions.

12 . The method of claim 11 wherein the UWB emitting device is selected from a group consisting of: a smart device, a wearable device, a smart ring, a smart watch, an implanted medical device, a pacemaker, a defibrillator.

13 . The method of claim 11 wherein the plurality of UWB beacons comprise at least three UWB beacons.

14 . The method of claim 11 further comprising:

determining with a proximity sensor when the UWB emitting device is within a predetermined distance of the proximity sensor; and

wherein the directing with the processing unit a power unit to provide an energy power signal to the UWB emitting device is also in response to the UWB emitting device being within the predetermined distance of the proximity sensor.
