Abstract

A user equipment (UE) receives, from a base station, a parameter indicating a power control loop out of a plurality of power control loops. Further, the UE receives a single downlink channel, wherein the single downlink channel carries a channel allocation and a transmit power control (TPC) command for the UE. The UE transmits a shared uplink physical channel using resources based on the channel allocation and at a transmission power level based on the transmit power command and the indicated power control loop.

Claims (38)

1. A user equipment (UE) comprising:

a transmitter;

a receiver; and

a processor;

wherein:

the receiver configured to receive a parameter indicating a power control loop out of a plurality of power control loops;

the receiver configured to receive a single downlink channel, wherein the single downlink channel carries a channel allocation and a transmit power control (TPC) command for the UE; and

the transmitter configured to transmit a shared uplink physical channel using resources based on the channel allocation and at a transmission power level based on the transmit power command and the indicated power control loop.

2. The UE of claim 1 wherein the TPC command is a multilevel TPC.

3. The UE of claim 1 wherein the transmission power level is further based on a determined pathloss.

4. The UE of claim 1 wherein the transmission power level is further based on a parameter associated with a transport format of the shared uplink physical channel.

5. The UE of claim 1 wherein the transmission power level is based on a slot of the transmitted shared uplink physical channel.

6. The UE of claim 1 wherein the transmission power level is further based on a constant value received from a base station.

7. The UE of claim 1 wherein the transmitter is further configured to transmit a second channel different from the shared uplink physical channel, wherein a transmission power level of the second channel is based on different parameters than the shared uplink physical channel.

8. The UE of claim 1 wherein the transmitter has a transmission pause over a plurality of time slots and the receiver not receiving a TPC command during the transmission pause and the transmitter transmitting a shared uplink physical channel transmission after the transmission pause at a transmission power level different than before the transmission pause based on a change in a measured pathloss.

9. A method performed by a user equipment (UE), the method comprising:

receiving a parameter indicating a power control loop out of a plurality of power control loops;

receiving a single downlink channel, wherein the single downlink channel carries a channel allocation and a transmit power control (TPC) command for the UE; and

transmitting a shared uplink physical channel using resources based on the channel allocation and at a transmission power level based on the transmit power command and the indicated power control loop.

10. The method of claim 9 wherein the TPC command is a multilevel TPC.

11. The method of claim 9 wherein the transmission power level is further based on a determined pathloss.

12. The method of claim 9 wherein the transmission power level is further based on a parameter associated with a transport format of the shared uplink physical channel.

13. The method of claim 9 wherein the transmission power level is based on a slot of the transmitted shared uplink physical channel.

14. The method of claim 9 wherein the transmission power level is further based on a constant value received from a base station.

15. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

transmitting a second channel different from the shared uplink physical channel, wherein a transmission power level of the second channel is based on different parameters than the shared uplink physical channel.

16. The method of claim 9 wherein a transmission pause occurs over a plurality of time slots and not receiving a TPC command during the transmission pause and the method further comprising transmitting a shared uplink physical channel transmission after the transmission pause at a transmission power level different than before the transmission pause based on a change in a measured pathloss.

17. A base station (BS) comprising:

a transmitter;

a receiver;

a processor; and

wherein:

the transmitter configured to transmit a parameter indicating a power control loop out of a plurality of power control loops;

the transmitter configured to transmit a single downlink channel, wherein the single downlink channel carries a channel allocation and a transmit power control (TPC) command for a user equipment (UE); and

the receiver configured to receive a shared uplink physical channel using resources based on the channel allocation and at a transmission power level based on the transmit power command and the indicated power control loop.

18. The BS of claim 17 wherein the TPC command is a multilevel TPC.

19. The BS of claim 17 wherein the receiver is further configured to receive, from the UE, a second channel different from the shared uplink physical channel, wherein a transmission power level of the second channel is based on different parameters than the shared uplink physical channel.

20. The BS of claim 17 wherein the transmission power level is further based on a constant value received from a base station.
