Claims (16)

. A method of treating a hepatitis delta virus (HDV) infection in a human, said method comprising administering to the human tipifarnib at a daily dose from 200 mg to 600 mg.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises administering to the human

a therapeutically effective amount of interferon-α.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the method further comprises administering to the human

a therapeutically effective amount of a CYP3A4 inhibitor.

. The method of claim 3 , wherein the CYP3A4 inhibitor is selected from the group consisting of ritonavir and cobicistat.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the tipifarnib is administered at a dose of 100 mg BID.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the tipifarnib is administered at a dose of 150 mg BID.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the tipifarnib is administered at a dose of 200 mg BID.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the tipifarnib is administered at a dose of 250 mg BID.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the tipifarnib is administered at a dose of 300 mg BID.

. The method of claim 4 , wherein the CYP3A4 inhibitor is ritonavir and wherein the ritonavir is administered at a dose of 100 mg QD or 50 mg BID.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein dosing is continuous for a period of at least 60 days to at least one year.

. The method of claim 2 , wherein the interferon is pegylated interferon-α.

. The method of claim 12 , wherein the pegylated interferon-a is administered at a dose of 180 micrograms per week.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein treatment is continued until HDV-RNA levels are below 1,000 copies/mL.
