Abstract

Systems, apparatus, methods, and non-transitory media for programmatically grouping consumers are discussed herein. Some embodiments may include a system configured to provide to shared promotion redemptions. The system may include a merchant device with processing circuitry configured to associate multiple consumer accounts with a point-of-sale order. Based on receiving redemption data from a consumer device associated with one of the consumer accounts, the system may be further configured to allow the consumer device to share a selected promotion. For example, the system may determine payment share amounts for each consumer account based on a transaction price of the point-of-sale order and the redemption value of the promotion selected for shared redemption.

Claims (74)

1. An apparatus comprising a processor and a memory, the memory comprising instructions that configure the apparatus to:

connect with consumer devices via a network, wherein the network includes a root communication beacon;

identify a primary consumer device communicating with the root communication beacon;

identify primary consumer account data associated with the primary consumer device;

identify one or more secondary consumer devices, wherein to identify one or more second consumer devices comprises:

initiate broadcasting of a beacon identifier;

receive a beacon identifier receipt indicator from each secondary consumer device of the one or more secondary consumer devices;

determine the one or more secondary consumer devices based on each beacon identifier receipt received from a secondary consumer device of the one or more secondary consumer devices;

identify secondary consumer account data associated with a secondary consumer device of the one or more secondary consumer devices;

designate the primary consumer device and the one or more secondary consumer devices as a consumer device group;

generate a point-of-sale order associated with the consumer device group;

receive, via the network, redemption data indicating redemption of a promotion associated with the point-of-sale order;

determine, based on the redemption data, a portion of a redemption value to apply to each consumer device of the consumer device group; and

facilitate a financial transaction for the consumer device group by communicating with the primary consumer device.

2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the root communication beacon is a merchant communication beacon located at a merchant location.

3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein to initiate the broadcasting of the beacon identifier is performed in response to receiving a consumer broadcast approval indicator by the primary consumer device.

4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein to facilitate the financial transaction comprises:

facilitate the financial transaction based on the primary consumer account data and the secondary consumer account data.

5. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein to determine based on the redemption data, the portion of the redemption value to apply to each consumer device of the consumer device group comprises:

determine a transaction price for the point-of-sale order;

determine a payment share amount for each consumer device of the consumer device group based on the transaction price;

determine a first redemption value for each consumer device of the consumer device group based on the redemption data;

transmit to the primary consumer device the transaction price, the redemption value, and the payment share amount after the first redemption value has been applied to be displayed on the primary consumer device; and

receive from the primary consumer device an indication of a primary consumer approval to share the redemption value.

6. The apparatus of claim 5 , wherein the transaction price for the point-of-sale order is based on a tip amount determined by a merchant.

7. A computer-implemented method comprising:

connecting with consumer devices via a network, wherein the network includes a root communication beacon;

identifying a primary consumer device communicating with the root communication beacon;

identifying primary consumer account data associated with the primary consumer device;

identifying one or more secondary consumer devices, wherein identifying one or more secondary consumer devices comprises:

initiating broadcasting of a beacon identifier;

receiving a beacon identifier receipt indicator from each secondary consumer device of the one or more secondary consumer devices; and

determining the one or more secondary consumer devices based on each beacon identifier receipt received from a secondary consumer device of the one or more secondary consumer devices;

identifying secondary consumer account data associated with a secondary consumer device of the one or more secondary consumer devices;

designating the primary consumer device and the one or more secondary consumer devices as a consumer device group;

generating a point-of-sale order associated with the consumer device group;

receiving, via the network, redemption data indicating redemption of a promotion associated with the point-of-sale order;

determining, based on the redemption data, a portion of a redemption value to apply to each consumer device of the consumer device group; and

facilitating a financial transaction for the consumer device group by communicating with the primary consumer device.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein the root communication beacon is a merchant communication beacon located at a merchant location.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein initiating the broadcasting of the beacon identifier is performed in response to receiving a consumer broadcast approval indicator by the primary consumer device.

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein facilitating the financial transaction comprises:

facilitating the financial transaction based on the primary consumer account data and the secondary consumer account data.

11. The computer-implemented method of claim 7 , wherein determining, based on the redemption data, the portion of the redemption value to apply to each consumer device of the consumer device group comprises:

determining a transaction price for the point-of-sale order;

determining a payment share amount for each consumer device of the consumer device group based on the transaction price;

determining a first redemption value for each consumer device of the consumer device group based on the redemption data;

transmitting to the primary consumer device the transaction price, the redemption value, and the payment share amount after the first redemption value has been applied to be displayed on the primary consumer device; and

receiving from the primary consumer device an indication of a primary consumer approval to share the redemption value.

12. The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , wherein the transaction price for the point-of-sale order is based on a tip amount determined by a merchant.

13. A computer program product comprising at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having computer-readable program code portions stored therein, the computer-readable program code portions configured to:

connect with consumer devices via a network, wherein the network includes a root communication beacon;

identify a primary consumer device communicating with the root communication beacon;

identify primary consumer account data associated with the primary consumer device;

identify one or more secondary consumer devices, wherein to identify one or more secondary consumer devices comprises:

initiate broadcasting of a beacon identifier;

receive a beacon identifier receipt indicator from each secondary consumer device of the one or more secondary consumer devices;

determine the one or more secondary consumer devices based on each beacon identifier receipt received from a secondary consumer device of the one or more secondary consumer devices;

identify secondary consumer account data associated with a secondary consumer device of the one or more secondary consumer devices;

designate the primary consumer device and the one or more secondary consumer devices as a consumer device group;

generate a point-of-sale order associated with the consumer device group;

receive, via the network, redemption data indicating redemption of a promotion associated with the point-of-sale order;

determine, based on the redemption data, a portion of a redemption value to apply to each consumer device of the consumer device group; and

facilitate a financial transaction for the consumer device group by communicating with the primary consumer device.

14. The computer program product of claim 13 , wherein the root communication beacon is a merchant communication beacon located within a merchant location.
