Abstract

Embodiments of systems and method for assistance in document composition in the context of a document editor are disclosed. Specifically, embodiments may utilize a document definition syntax that allows a user to define a document that includes a set of document sections with identifiers and definitions. A client document compositor may be integrated with the document editor and communicate with a document composition platform to obtain a data section for substitution in the document in place of a document section.

Claims (38)

1. A document composition system, comprising:

a processor; and

a non-transitory computer readable medium, comprising instructions for:

obtaining a document, the document defining a set of document sections in a document syntax, each document section defined in the document syntax including a token defining a type of the document section and a definition for the document section;

parsing the document to determine the set of document of sections in the document based on the document syntax, including parsing the document syntax of a first document section to identity the definition for the first document section;

forming a request to a data analytics engine for a data section for the first document section, wherein the request includes the definition for the first document section parsed from the document syntax of the first document section and the request is adapted to cause the data analytics engine to perform a search based on the first definition of the first document section;

receiving the data section for the first document section from the data analytics engine; and

substituting the received data section for the first document section of the document such that the received data section is substituted in place of the first document section in the document,

wherein the first document section includes the definition, and wherein the definition comprises a subject document section, a metadata document section, and an identifier associating the subject document section with the metadata document section.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the identifier defines an ordering of the document section relative to the set of document sections.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the definition is a text or an image.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the data section is a text or an image.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions are further for presenting the data section for the first document section to the user in association with the first document section of the document; and receiving a selection from the user of the data section, wherein the substitution of the received data section is performed in response to the user selection of the data section.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the request is formed based on at least one of the subject document section or the metadata document section.

7. A method for document composition, comprising:

obtaining a document, the document defining a set of document sections in a document syntax, each document section defined in the document syntax including a token defining a type of the document section and a definition for the document section;

parsing the document to determine the set of document of sections in the document based on the document syntax, including parsing the document syntax of a first document section to identity the definition for the first document section;

forming a request to a data analytics engine for a data section for the first document section, wherein the request includes the definition for the first document section parsed from the document syntax of the first document section and the request is adapted to cause the data analytics engine to perform a search based on the first definition of the first document section;

receiving the data section for the first document section from the data analytics engine; and

substituting the received data section for the first document section of the document such that the received data section is substituted in place of the first document section in the document,

wherein the first document section includes the definition, and wherein the definition comprises a subject document section, a metadata document section, and an identifier associating the subject document section with the metadata document section.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein the identifier defines an ordering of the document section relative to the set of document sections.

9. The method of claim 7 , wherein the definition is a text or an image.

10. The method of claim 7 , wherein the data section is a text or an image.

11. The method of claim 7 , further comprising presenting the data section for the first document section to the user in association with the first document section of the document; and receiving a selection from the user of the data section, wherein the substitution of the received data section is performed in response to the user selection of the data section.

12. The method of claim 7 , wherein the request is formed based on at least one of the subject document section or the metadata document section.

13. A non-transitory computer readable medium, comprising instructions for:

obtaining a document, the document defining a set of document sections in a document syntax, each document section defined in the document syntax including a token defining a type of the document section and a definition for the document section;

parsing the document to determine the set of document of sections in the document based on the document syntax, including parsing the document syntax of a first document section to identity the definition for the first document section;

forming a request to a data analytics engine for a data section for the first document section, wherein the request includes the definition for the first document section parsed from the document syntax of the first document section and the request is adapted to cause the data analytics engine to perform a search based on the first definition of the first document section;

receiving the data section for the first document section from the data analytics engine; and

substituting the received data section for the first document section of the document such that the received data section is substituted in place of the first document section in the document,

wherein the first document section includes the definition, and wherein the definition comprises a subject document section, a metadata document section, and an identifier associating the subject document section with the metadata document section.

14. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the identifier defines an ordering of the document section relative to the set of document sections.

15. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the definition is a text or an image.

16. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the data section is a text or an image.

17. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the instructions are further for presenting the data section for the first document section to the user in association with the first document section of the document; and receiving a selection from the user of the data section, wherein the substitution of the received data section is performed in response to the user selection of the data section.

18. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 13 , wherein the request is formed based on at least one of the subject document section or the metadata document section.
