Abstract

The Automata Processor Workbench (AP Workbench) is an application for creating and editing designs of AP networks (e.g., one or more portions of the state machine engine, one or more portions of the FSM lattice, or the like) based on, for example, an Automata Network Markup Language (ANML). For instance, the application may include a tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium configured to store instructions executable by a processor of an electronic device, wherein the instructions include instructions to represent an automata network as a graph.

Claims (25)

1. A tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium configured to store instructions executable by a processor of an electronic device, wherein the instructions comprise:

instructions to provide a graphical user interface (GUI) utilized in creation of an automata network based on an underlying markup language; and

instructions to present a toolbar via the GUI to provide interactive icons corresponding to actions regarding the automata network, wherein the actions regarding the automata network comprise stream actions to work with a symbol stream to be applied to the automata network in conjunction with a simulation of operation of at least a portion of the automata network to analyze at least a portion of the symbol stream via the at least a portion of the automata network or wherein the actions regarding the automata network comprise stepping actions corresponding to navigating to a first symbol in the symbol stream being applied to the automata network in conjunction with the simulation of operation of at least a portion of the automata network, wherein the GUI is additionally configured to provide a macros library section selectable by a user to create new macros or edit existing macros, wherein each respective macro of the new macros and existing macros comprises a self-contained automaton that can be replicated, wherein the GUI provides a creator tool shortcut allow the user to access a regular expression from a set of preexisting regular expressions to apply in creating the new macros.

2. The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , comprising instructions to represent circuitry of the automata network as graphical icons in the GUI.

3. The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , comprising instructions to present a first selectable icon via the GUI corresponding to creation of at least a portion of the automata network as a new project.

4. The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 3 , comprising instructions to store a new project as a file that contains visual data and data in the underlying markup language.

5. The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 3 , comprising instructions to present a second selectable icon via the GUI corresponding to a network element of the automata network.

6. The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 5 , comprising instructions to present an editable workspace via the GUI upon which the network element can be presented based on a determination that the first selectable icon has been selected and the second selectable icon has been selected.

The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 5 , comprising instructions to present a third selectable icon via the GUI corresponding to an existing macro of the existing macros, wherein the existing macro and corresponding to a group of network elements of the automata network.

The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7 , comprising instructions to present an editable workspace via the GUI upon which the existing macro can be presented based on a determination that the first selectable icon has been selected and the third selectable icon has been selected.

9. The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 1 , comprising instructions to present a status indication via the GUI to visually indicate a warning or an error regarding the automata network.

10. A tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium configured to store instructions executable by a processor of an electronic device, wherein the instructions comprise:

instructions to provide a graphical user interface (GUI) to edit an automata network that is generated based on an underlying markup language; and

instructions to present a toolbar via the GUI to provide interactive icons corresponding to stream actions to work with a symbol stream to be applied to the automata network in conjunction with a simulation of operation of at least a portion of the automata network to analyze at least a portion of the symbol stream via the at least a portion of the automata network, wherein the instructions are additionally configured to provide via the GUI a macros library section selectable by a user to create new macros or edit existing macros, wherein each respective macro of the new macros and existing macros comprises a self-contained automaton that can be replicated, and the instructions are additionally configured to provide via the GUI a creator tool shortcut configured to allow a user to access a regular expression from a set of preexisting regular expressions to apply in creating the new macros.

11. The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10 , comprising instructions to present a first selectable icon via the GUI corresponding to loading of at least a portion of the automata network from a file comprising a saved project.

12. The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , comprising instructions to present the at least a portion of the automata network via the GUI based on a determination that the first selectable icon has been selected.

13. The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12 , comprising instructions to present a second selectable icon via the GUI corresponding to an editing action of at least one element of the at least a portion of the automata network via the GUI.

14. The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13 , comprising instructions to present a visually editable icon via the GUI corresponding to a determination that the at least one element of the at least a portion of the automata network has been selected.

15. The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11 , comprising instructions to present a second selectable icon via the GUI corresponding to saving of the at least a portion of the automata network to the file comprising the saved project.

16. The tangible, non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , comprising instructions to save the at least a portion of the automata network to the file comprising the saved project via the GUI based on a determination that the second selectable icon has been selected.

17. A method, comprising:

providing a graphical user interface (GUI) on a computing device, wherein the GUI when in operation provides for creating and editing of an automata network based upon an underlying markup language, wherein the GUI comprises a toolbar to provide interactive icons corresponding to stepping actions corresponding to navigating to a first symbol in a symbol stream being applied to the automata network in conjunction with a simulation of operation of at least a portion of the automata network, wherein the GUI is additionally configured to provide a macros library section selectable by a user to create new macros or edit existing macros, wherein each respective macro of the new macros and existing macros comprises a self-contained automaton that can be replicated, wherein the GUI provides a creator tool shortcut allow the user to access a regular expression from a set of preexisting regular expressions to apply in creating the new macros.

18. The method of claim 17 , comprising generating via the GUI a first selectable icon corresponding to creation of at least a portion of the automata network as a new project as a file that contains visual data and data in the underlying markup language.

19. The method of claim 17 , comprising generating via the GUI a first selectable icon corresponding to loading of at least a portion of the automata network as a saved project as a file that contains visual data and data in the underlying markup language.

20. The method of claim 17 , wherein the stepping actions further correspond to affecting the simulation of operation of at least a portion of the automata network.
