SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TEXT-BASED DELIVERY OF SALES PROMOTIONS
A system and method for obtaining sales promotions via a text-messaging based interaction. The system comprises a call-to-action link that reduces the number of steps needed to obtain a sales promotion via a website. The call-to-action link triggers a prepopulated text message on a user's mobile device, whereby the user needs to only press send, and receive the sales promotion text message in return. The returned text message may provide the sales promotion in a variety of ways, such as a scannable bar code or QR code, a hypertext or URL link, an alphanumeric text, or other medium send-able via messaging services and usable by business establishments.
1 . A system for text-based delivery of sales promotions, comprising:
an omnichannel text-based communicator comprising a first plurality of programming instructions stored in a memory of, and operable on a processor of, a computing device, wherein the first plurality of programming instructions, when operating on the processor of the computing device, cause the computing device to:
store a sales promotion in a database;
associate the sales promotion with a uniform resource locator, the uniform resource locator hosted on a webpage that when interacted with, opens a messaging application on a mobile device and prepopulates a text message;
receive a request for the sales promotion, the request received from the mobile device, wherein the mobile device has a telephone number;
generate a message with the sales promotion;
send the generated message to the mobile device;
store the mobile device's telephone number in a user profile in a database; and
associate the user profile with the sales promotion.
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the generated message comprises a barcode.
3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the generated message comprises a QR code.
4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the generated message comprises a hypertext link.
5 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the generated message comprises a uniform resource locator.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the generated message comprises an alphanumeric promotion code.
7 . The system of claim 1 , wherein an automatic reminder message to use the sales promotion is sent to the mobile device if the sales promotion goes unused for a specific amount of time.
8 . A method for text-based delivery of sales promotions, comprising the steps of:
storing a sales promotion in a database;
associating the sales promotion with a uniform resource locator, the uniform resource locator hosted on a webpage that when interacted with, opens a messaging application on a mobile device and prepopulates a text message;
receiving a request for the sales promotion, the request received from the mobile device, wherein the mobile device has a telephone number;
generating a message with the sales promotion;
sending the generated message to the mobile device;
storing the mobile device's telephone number in a user profile in a database; and
associating the user profile with the sales promotion.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the generated message comprises a barcode.
10 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the generated message comprises a QR code.
11 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the generated message comprises a hypertext link.
12 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the generated message comprises a uniform resource locator.
13 . The method of claim 8 , wherein an automatic reminder message to use the sales promotion is sent to the mobile device if the sales promotion goes unused for a specific amount of time.
