Abstract

An example disclosed printer configured to peel media from a backing, the printer having a peeler assembly that is engageable between a peeling position, wherein the printer is configured to peel the media from the backing, and a non-peeling position, wherein the printer is not configured to peel the media from the backing. The printer further including a sensor configured to send a signal corresponding to a position of the peeler assembly. The printer further including a communication interface configured to receive the position of the peeler assembly from the sensor and configured to transmit the position of the peeler assembly to a secondary component.

Claims (32)

1. A printer configured to peel media from a backing, the printer comprising:

a peeler assembly that is engageable between a peeling position, wherein the printer is configured to peel the media from the backing, and a non-peeling position, wherein the printer is not configured to peel the media from the backing;

a sensor configured to send a signal corresponding to a position of the peeler assembly; and

a communication interface configured to receive the position of the peeler assembly from the sensor and configured to transmit the position of the peeler assembly to a secondary component,

wherein the secondary component is a processor configured to receive the sensor signal and then adjust at least one print setting in response to receiving the signal corresponding to the position of the peeler assembly.

2. The printer of claim 1 , wherein the at least one print setting comprises at least one of print speed, printhead temperature, or printhead position.

3. The printer of claim 1 , wherein the secondary component is configured to provide an output to a user.

4. The printer of claim 3 , wherein the output includes at least one of the list including an audible notification, a visual notification, or a mechanical notification.

5. The printer of claim 3 , further comprising a user interface, and the secondary component is configured to provide the output to the user via the user interface.

6. The printer of claim 1 , wherein the sensor comprises a proximity sensor.

7. The printer of claim 1 , further comprising a media cover, wherein the sensor is carried by the media cover.

8. The printer of claim 1 , wherein the sensor is configured to sense that the peeler assembly is in the peeling position prior to the media being peeled from the backing.

9. A printer configured to peel media from a backing, the printer comprising:

a peeler assembly that is engageable between a peeling position, wherein the printer is configured to peel the media from the backing, and a non-peeling position, wherein the printer is not configured to peel the media from the backing;

a sensor configured to send a signal corresponding to a position of the peeler assembly; and

a communication interface configured to receive the position of the peeler assembly from the sensor and configured to transmit the position of the peeler assembly to a secondary component,

wherein the secondary component is a processor configured to receive the sensor signal and to provide an output to a user.

10. The printer of claim 9 , wherein the secondary component is configured adjust at least one print setting in response to receiving the signal corresponding to the position of the peeler assembly.

11. The printer of claim 10 , wherein the at least one print setting comprises at least one of print speed, printhead temperature, or printhead position.

12. The printer of claim 9 , wherein the output includes at least one of an audible notification, a visual notification, or a mechanical notification.

13. The printer of claim 9 , further comprising a user interface, and the secondary component is configured to provide the output to the user via the user interface.

14. The printer of claim 9 , wherein the sensor comprises a proximity sensor.

15. The printer of claim 9 , further comprising a media cover, wherein the sensor is carried by the media cover.

16. The printer of claim 9 , wherein the sensor is configured to sense that the peeler assembly is in the peeling position prior to the media being peeled from the backing.

17. A printer configured to peel media from a backing, the printer comprising:

a peeler assembly that is engageable between a peeling position, wherein the printer is configured to peel the media from the backing, and a non-peeling position, wherein the printer is not configured to peel the media from the backing;

a sensor configured to send a signal corresponding to a position of the peeler assembly;

a media cover, the sensor is carried by the media cover; and

a communication interface configured to receive the position of the peeler assembly from the sensor and configured to transmit the position of the peeler assembly to a secondary component.

18. The printer of claim 17 , wherein the secondary component is configured adjust at least one print setting in response to receiving the signal corresponding to the position of the peeler assembly.

19. The printer of claim 18 , wherein the at least one print setting comprises at least one of print speed, printhead temperature, or printhead position.

20. The printer of claim 17 , wherein the sensor comprises a proximity sensor.
