Abstract

A method and a device for processing a video signal are disclosed. In particular, a method for decoding a video signal includes parsing a first syntax element indicating a primary transform kernel applied to a primary transform of a current block; determining whether a secondary transform is applicable to the current block based on the first syntax element; if the secondary transform is applicable to the current block, parsing a second syntax element indicating a secondary transform kernel applied to a secondary transform of the current block; deriving a secondary inverse-transformed block, by performing a secondary inverse-transform for a top-left specific region of the current block using a secondary transform kernel indicated by the second syntax element; and deriving a residual block of the current block, by performing a primary inverse-transform for the secondary inverse-transformed block using a primary transform kernel indicated by the first syntax element.

Claims (36)

1. A method for decoding a video signal, comprising:

deriving an intra prediction mode of a current block;

parsing a syntax element related to a secondary transform of the current block, the syntax element including information whether to apply the secondary transform to the current block and information about which secondary transform kernel is applied to the current block;

determining a secondary transform kernel set among a plurality of secondary transform kernel sets based on the intra prediction mode when the syntax element specifies that the secondary transform is applied to the current block, wherein each of a plurality of intra prediction modes corresponds to one of the plurality of secondary transform kernel sets, and each of the plurality of secondary transform kernel sets comprises two transform kernels;

determining a secondary transform kernel among the two transform kernels included in the secondary transform kernel set, based on the syntax element;

performing a secondary inverse-transform on the current block based on the secondary transform kernel to obtain a secondary inverse-transformed block for the current block; and

performing a primary inverse-transform on the secondary inverse-transformed block based on a primary transform kernel to obtain a residual block of the current block.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the parsing the syntax element comprises:

determining that the secondary transform is applied to the current block based on that the syntax element has non-zero value.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the primary transform kernel is a predefined transform kernel based on that the syntax element specifies that the secondary transform is applied to the current block.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein the predefined transform kernel is DCT2.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the performing the secondary inverse-transform for the current block comprises: performing the secondary inverse-transform on a top-left specific region of the current block.

6. A method for encoding a video signal, comprising:

obtaining a current block including residual data based on an intra prediction mode;

determining whether to apply a secondary transform to the current block;

performing a primary transform on the current block based on a primary transform kernel to obtain a primary-transformed block;

determining a secondary transform kernel set among a plurality of secondary transform kernel sets based on the intra prediction mode when it is determined that that the secondary transform is applied to the current block, wherein each of a plurality of intra prediction modes corresponds to one of the plurality of secondary transform kernel sets, and each of the plurality of secondary transform kernel sets comprises two transform kernels;

determining a secondary transform kernel among the two transform kernels included in the secondary transform kernel set;

performing the secondary transform on the primary-transformed block based on the secondary transform kernel to obtain a secondary-transformed block; and

generating a syntax element related to the secondary transform of the current block, the syntax element including information whether to apply the secondary transform to the primary-transformed block and information about which secondary transform kernel is applied to the primary-transformed block.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the generating the syntax element comprises: determining the syntax element as non-zero value based on that it is determined that the secondary transform is applied to the current block.

8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the primary transform kernel is a predefined transform kernel based on that it is determined that the secondary transform is applied to the current block.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the predefined transform kernel is DCT2.

11. A non-transitory decoder-readable medium for storing a bitstream generated by a video encoder, the bitstream comprising:

residual data of a current block;

information used for deriving an intra prediction mode of the current block; and

a syntax element related to a secondary transform of the current block, the syntax element including information whether to apply the secondary transform to the current block and information about which secondary transform kernel is applied to the current block,

wherein a secondary transform kernel set is determined based on the intra prediction mode among a plurality of secondary transform kernel sets, when the syntax element specifies that the secondary transform is applied to the current block,

wherein each of a plurality of intra prediction modes corresponds to one of the plurality of secondary transform kernel sets, and each of the plurality of secondary transform kernel sets comprises two transform kernels,
