Abstract

Methods and systems provide information products relating to past, present and future advertising transactions (i.e., contracts to place advertisements in various media) to enable a marketplace in advertising products. Information regarding a plurality of advertising transactions are gathered. Data is analyzed to determine its attributes. Some attribute values are transformed and the attribute values are stored in a database. Attributes are organized or indexed according to a taxonomy of attributes to provide indexes to advertising transaction records. Indexes and benchmarks for various selected types of advertising transactions can be generated by selecting certain records from the database and aggregating the data or otherwise synthesizing information products, such as benchmarks and market entities for the selected types of advertising transactions. Information products may be published and syndicated as market indexes and benchmarks.

Claims (36)

1. A method comprising:

receiving, from a first computing device, an advertising offer;

accessing, via a computer network, a plurality of advertising transactions, wherein each of the advertising transactions is associated with a respective transaction standardized attribute and an advertising parameter;

selecting, from among the plurality of advertising transactions, advertising transactions associated with a predefined transaction standardized attribute;

dynamically computing, as the plurality of advertising transactions are accessed, a current advertising index value by aggregating the advertising parameters of the predefined advertising transactions, the aggregating being based on normalizing the advertising parameters of the predefined advertising transactions over a predefined time period; and

in response to identifying that the current advertising index is less preferable than a selling parameter of the advertising offer, causing display, on a user interface of a second computing device, of an interactive element for responding to the advertising offer.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein aggregating the advertising parameters comprises aggregating the advertising parameters by using volume-weighted averaging of advertising prices.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein aggregating the advertising parameters comprises dynamically averaging prices of the predefined advertising transactions.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein aggregating the advertising parameters comprises dynamically averaging prices of the predefined advertising transactions.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein aggregating the advertising parameters comprises calculating rolling average prices of the predefined advertising transactions.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein aggregating the advertising parameters comprises obtaining data for the plurality of advertising transactions for one or more types of media.

7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the one or more types of media comprise internet-enabled online medium, electronic game, mobile, search, print, newspaper, magazine, broadcast, television, radio, satellite-based, and outdoor advertising.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein aggregating the advertising parameters comprises aggregating predefined attributes of the plurality of advertising transactions to provide a common market index of advertising transactions.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein aggregating the advertising parameters comprises one or more of characterizing, summarizing, and indexing the plurality of advertising transactions.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the advertising offer comprises one or more of an electronic display, mobile advertising, search advertising, video advertising, and game advertising.

11. A system comprising:

a processor; and

a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, configure the processor to:

receive, from a first computing device, an advertising offer;

access, via a computer network, a plurality of advertising transactions, wherein each of the advertising transactions is associated with a respective transaction standardized attribute and an advertising parameter;

select, from among the plurality of advertising transactions, advertising transactions associated with a predefined transaction standardized attribute;

dynamically compute, as advertising transactions are accessed, a current advertising index value by aggregating the advertising parameters of the predefined advertising transactions, the aggregating based on normalizing the advertising parameters of the predefined advertising transactions over a predefined time period; and

in response to identifying that the current advertising index is less preferable than a selling parameter of the advertising offer, cause display, on a user interface of a second computing device, of an interactive element for responding to the advertising offer.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein aggregating the advertising parameters comprises aggregating the advertising parameters by using volume-weighted averaging of advertising prices.

13. The system of claim 11 , wherein aggregating the advertising parameters comprises dynamically averaging prices of the predefined advertising transactions.

14. The system of claim 11 , wherein aggregating the advertising parameters comprises dynamically averaging prices of the predefined advertising transactions.

15. The system of claim 11 , wherein aggregating the advertising parameters comprises calculating rolling average prices of the predefined advertising transactions.

16. The system of claim 11 , wherein aggregating the advertising parameters comprises obtaining data for the plurality of advertising transactions for one or more types of media.

17. The system of claim 16 , wherein the one or more types of media comprise internet-enabled online medium, electronic game, mobile, search, print, newspaper, magazine, broadcast, television, radio, satellite-based, and outdoor advertising.

18. The system of claim 11 , wherein aggregating the advertising parameters comprises aggregating predefined attributes of the plurality of advertising transactions to provide a common market index of advertising transactions.

19. The system of claim 11 , wherein aggregating the advertising parameters comprises one or more of characterizing, summarizing, and indexing the plurality of advertising transactions.

20. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, the computer-readable storage medium including instructions that when executed by a computer, cause the computer to: receive, from a first computing device, an advertising offer;

access, via a computer network, a plurality of advertising transactions, wherein each of the advertising transactions is associated with a respective transaction standardized attribute and an advertising parameter;

select, from among the plurality of advertising transactions, advertising transactions associated with a predefined transaction standardized attribute;

dynamically compute, as advertising transactions are accessed, a current advertising index value by aggregating the advertising parameters of the predefined advertising transactions, the aggregating based on normalizing the advertising parameters of the predefined advertising transactions over a predefined time period; and

in response to identifying that the current advertising index is less preferable than a selling parameter of the advertising offer, cause display, on a user interface of a second computing device, of an interactive element for responding to the advertising offer.
