FEATURE IDENTIFICATION
A surgical robotic system for augmenting a representation of a surgical site at which a surgical procedure can be carried out, the system comprising: a display configured to display part or all of a representation of at least a portion of a surgical site; a controller comprising an input device, whereby the input device can control an indicator on the display, the controller being configured to output an augmentation signal in response to user input relating to the representation; and a processor configured to receive the augmentation signal and, in response to the received augmentation signal, to augment the representation of the surgical site.
1 . A surgical robotic system for augmenting a representation of a surgical site at which a surgical procedure can be carried out, the system comprising:
a display configured to display part or all of a representation of at least a portion of a surgical site;
a controller comprising an input device, whereby the input device can control an indicator on the display, the controller being configured to output an augmentation signal in response to user input relating to the representation; and
a processor configured to receive the augmentation signal and, in response to the received augmentation signal, to augment the representation of the surgical site, the augmentation being performed in dependence on a model of the surgical site.

The system according to claim 1 , in which the processor is configured to receive data relating to the surgical procedure and perform a comparison of the received data with data relating to a previous procedure, and to augment the representation of the surgical site in dependence on the comparison.
3 . The system according to claim 1 , further comprising an imaging device, whereby the imaging device is configured to image the surgical site and generate an image feed of the surgical site, in which the representation of the surgical site is obtained in dependence on the generated image feed.
4 . The system according to claim 1 , in which the representation of the surgical site is a 3D representation.
5 . The system according to claim 1 , comprising a robot arm having a surgical instrument with an end effector, whereby the representation of the surgical site comprises a representation of the end effector, the indicator comprising a portion of the representation of the end effector.
6 . The system according to claim 1 , in which the augmentation signal is indicative of a feature displayed on the display.
7 . The system according to claim 1 , in which the system is configured to associate the augmentation with the representation of the surgical site in dependence on the indicator position.
8 . The system according to claim 1 , in which the processor is configured to augment the representation of the surgical site in dependence on joint data associated with the robotic system.
9 . The system according to claim 8 , in which the processor is configured to associate the augmentation with a location in the representation of the surgical site determined in dependence on the joint data.
10 . The system according to claim 1 , in which the processor is configured to augment the representation of the surgical site in dependence on image processing of the representation.
11 . The system according to claim 1 , comprising a second input device, the processor being configured to augment the representation of the surgical site in dependence on user input at the second input device.

The system according to claim 1 , wherein the processor is configured to determine that an augmentation criterion is satisfied, and to augment the representation of the surgical site in dependence on that determination, wherein the processor is configured to determine that the augmentation criterion is satisfied in dependence on at least one of:
the attachment, detachment, operation and/or change of state of a surgical instrument;
an image recognition signal indicative of an image recognition match in the representation of the surgical site;
an error signal indicative of an error associated with the surgical robotic system;
a time signal; and
a signal indicating a change of a user of the surgical robotic system.
13 . The robotic system according to claim 1 , in which the processor is configured to:
augment the representation at one or more points along an edge of an anatomical feature of the representation indicated by the indicator; and
interpolate and/or extrapolate a remainder of the edge from the indicated one or more points.
14 . The robotic system according to claim 1 , in which the processor is configured to associate the augmentation with a confidence factor indicative of confidence that the augmentation is appropriate for a current procedure.
15 . The robotic system according to claim 14 , in which the confidence factor is determined in dependence on one or more of:
a similarity between the current procedure and an earlier procedure;
a similarity between a model used in the current procedure and a model used in an earlier procedure; and
a user who performed the earlier procedure.

17 . A method for augmenting a representation of a surgical site at which a surgical procedure can be carried out, comprising:
displaying part or all of a representation of at least a portion of a surgical site;
controlling an indicator on the display;
receiving user input relating to the representation and outputting an augmentation signal in response to the received user input; and
augmenting the representation of the surgical site in response to the augmentation signal and in dependence on a model of the surgical site.

22 . The method according to claim 17 , comprising associating the augmentation with at least one group of augmentations.

24 . The method according to claim 17 , comprising, where the representation of the surgical site comprises a plurality of augmentations, determining at least one of:
a number of augmentations;
a distance between the plurality of augmentations;
an area enclosed by the plurality of augmentations; and
a volume enclosed by the plurality of augmentations.
25 . The method according to claim 17 , comprising displaying, on at least one of the display and an auxiliary display, one or more of:
a number of augmentations;
a line connecting a plurality of augmentations;
an area enclosed by a plurality of augmentations; and
a volume enclosed by a plurality of augmentations.
26 . The method according to claim 17 , comprising receiving data relating to the surgical procedure and performing a comparison of the received data with data relating to a previous procedure, and augmenting the representation of the surgical site in dependence on the comparison.
