Abstract

Technologies for managing payment authorization request messaging for payment transactions include a transaction management controller. The transaction management controller receives a transaction amount for a payment transaction from a business management engine and a payment transaction type from a point of interaction device. The transaction management controller initializes a transaction processing module that corresponds to the received payment transaction type. The transaction processing module defines payment processing parameters for processing payment transactions of the payment transaction type. The transaction management controller receives payment card data for the payment transaction from the point of interaction device. The transaction management controller inserts the transaction amount and the payment card data into a payment authorization request message, which is transmitted to a payment network. A payment authorization response message is received from the payment network and transmitted by the transaction management controller to the business management engine. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Claims (59)

1. A computer implemented method for executing electronic transactions with dynamically loadable transaction processing modules, the method comprising:

receiving, by a transaction management controller computing device, from a business management engine, a transaction amount for a payment transaction, the business management engine being configured to communicate with the transaction management controller computing device and communicatively isolated from a point of interaction (POI) device;

generating, by the transaction management controller computing device, a payment authorization request message based on the transaction amount;

receiving, from a storage device of a remote configuration device, a plurality of payment vehicle type-specific transaction processing modules;

transmitting, by the transaction management controller computing device, to the POI device, a request for a transaction payment vehicle type corresponding to a payment vehicle associated with the payment transaction;

receiving, by the transaction management controller computing device, the transaction payment vehicle type from the POI device;

dynamically loading and initializing, by the transaction management controller computing device, one payment vehicle type-specific transaction processing module corresponding to the received transaction payment vehicle type from the POI device; and

transmitting, by the transaction management controller computing device, a payment authorization response message associated with the payment authorization request message to the business management engine.

2. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the payment authorization response message is based on transaction processing preferences of the initialized payment type-specific transaction processing module.

3. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the storage device is one of a local storage device or a remote storage device.

4. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of payment vehicle type-specific transaction processing modules comprising:

a credit card transaction processing module comprising transaction processing preferences controlling the point of interaction (POI) device during processing of credit card transactions; and

a debit card transaction processing module comprising transaction processing preferences controlling the point of interaction (POI) device during processing of debit card transactions.

5. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

managing, by the transaction management controller computing device, selection options of the POI device for the payment transaction; and

receiving, by the transaction management controller computing device, from the point of interaction device, selected options for the payment transaction.

6. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the payment authorization request message and the payment authorization response message comprise Hypertext Transfer Protocol messages.

7. The computer implemented method of claim 1 , wherein transmitting the payment authorization request message to a payment network comprises transmitting the payment authorization request message to a payment gateway communicatively coupled to the payment network; and

wherein receiving the payment authorization response message from the payment network comprises receiving the payment authorization response message from the payment gateway communicatively coupled to the payment network.

8. A system for executing electronic transactions with dynamically loadable transaction processing modules, the system comprising:

one or more computer readable media storing instructions for executing a real-time electronic transaction; and

one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to perform operations comprising:

receiving, by a transaction management controller computing device, from a business management engine, a transaction amount for a payment transaction, the business management engine being configured to communicate with the transaction management controller computing device and communicatively isolated from a point of interaction (POI) device;

generating, by the transaction management controller computing device, a payment authorization request message based on the transaction amount;

receiving, from a storage device of a remote configuration device, a plurality of payment vehicle type-specific transaction processing modules;

transmitting, by the transaction management controller computing device, to the POI device, a request for a transaction payment vehicle type corresponding to a payment vehicle associated with the payment transaction;

receiving, by the transaction management controller computing device, the transaction payment vehicle type from the POI device;

dynamically loading and initializing, by the transaction management controller computing device, one payment vehicle type-specific transaction processing module corresponding to the received transaction payment vehicle type from the POI device; and

transmitting, by the transaction management controller computing device, a payment authorization response message associated with the payment authorization request message to the business management engine.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the payment authorization response message is based on transaction processing preferences of the initialized payment type-specific transaction processing module.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the storage device is one of a local storage device or a remote storage device.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the plurality of payment vehicle type-specific transaction processing modules comprising:

a credit card transaction processing module comprising transaction processing preferences controlling the point of interaction (POI) device during processing of credit card transactions; and

a debit card transaction processing module comprising transaction processing preferences controlling the point of interaction (POI) device during processing of debit card transactions.

12. The system of claim 8 , further comprising:

managing, by the transaction management controller computing device, selection options of the POI device for the payment transaction; and

receiving, by the transaction management controller computing device, from the point of interaction device, selected options for the payment transaction.

13. The system of claim 8 , wherein the payment authorization request message and the payment authorization response message comprise Hypertext Transfer Protocol messages.

14. The system of claim 8 , wherein transmitting the payment authorization request message to a payment network comprises transmitting the payment authorization request message to a payment gateway communicatively coupled to the payment network; and

wherein receiving the payment authorization response message from the payment network comprises receiving the payment authorization response message from the payment gateway communicatively coupled to the payment network.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions for executing electronic transactions with dynamically loadable transaction processing modules, the instructions, when executed by one or more processors, causing the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

receiving, by a transaction management controller computing device, from a business management engine, a transaction amount for a payment transaction, the business management engine being configured to communicate with the transaction management controller computing device and communicatively isolated from a point of interaction (POI) device;

generating, by the transaction management controller computing device, a payment authorization request message based on the transaction amount;

receiving, from a storage device of a remote configuration device, a plurality of payment vehicle type-specific transaction processing modules;

transmitting, by the transaction management controller computing device, to the POI device, a request for a transaction payment vehicle type corresponding to a payment vehicle associated with the payment transaction;

receiving, by the transaction management controller computing device, the transaction payment vehicle type from the POI device;

dynamically loading and initializing, by the transaction management controller computing device, one payment vehicle type-specific transaction processing module corresponding to the received transaction payment vehicle type from the POI device; and

transmitting, by the transaction management controller computing device, a payment authorization response message associated with the payment authorization request message to the business management engine.

16. The computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the payment authorization response message is based on transaction processing preferences of the initialized payment type-specific transaction processing module, and

wherein the storage device is one of a local storage device or a remote storage device.

17. The computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the plurality of payment vehicle type-specific transaction processing modules comprising:

a credit card transaction processing module comprising transaction processing preferences controlling the point of interaction (POI) device during processing of credit card transactions; and

a debit card transaction processing module comprising transaction processing preferences controlling the point of interaction (POI) device during processing of debit card transactions.

18. The computer-readable medium of claim 15 , further comprising:

managing, by the transaction management controller computing device, selection options of the POI device for the payment transaction; and

receiving, by the transaction management controller computing device, from the point of interaction device, selected options for the payment transaction.

19. The computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the payment authorization request message and the payment authorization response message comprise Hypertext Transfer Protocol messages.

20. The computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein transmitting the payment authorization request message to a payment network comprises transmitting the payment authorization request message to a payment gateway communicatively coupled to the payment network; and

wherein receiving the payment authorization response message from the payment network comprises receiving the payment authorization response message from the payment gateway communicatively coupled to the payment network.
