Abstract

Novel pharmaceutical compositions including cocaine hydrochloride and methods of treating patients using those pharmaceutical compositions are described.

Claims (4)

1. A method of administering a topical anesthetic composition to a patient comprising:

soaking a plurality of absorbent articles with an aqueous solution comprising, by weight, about 4% cocaine hydrochloride, greater than 0 to less than about 0.150% citric acid, and about 0.07% to about 0.20% sodium benzoate; and

contacting the absorbent articles with a nasal mucous membrane in a nasal cavity of the patient for up to about 20 minutes,

wherein the method results in an AUC inf for cocaine in the patient ranging from about 30.8 ng*h/mL to 79.0 ng*h/mL.
