Abstract

The present teaching relates to method, system, and medium, for generating an augmented alert in a hybrid vehicle. First information indicating an upcoming switch in an operating mode of the vehicle is received, which specifies a set of tasks, arranged in an order, to be completed by a driver in the vehicle to achieve the upcoming switch, and a task duration for each of the set of tasks by which the task is to be completed. A current state of the driver is obtained and used to determine a set of warnings to alert the driver to perform the set of tasks. Each warning corresponds to a task in the set of tasks and is created based on the current state of the driver. A warning schedule is generated based on the set of warnings in the order of the set of tasks and transmitted so that warnings in the warning schedule are delivered to the driver.

Claims (40)

1 . A method, implemented on a machine having at least one processor, storage, and a communication platform capable of connecting to a network for presenting a warning to a driver of a vehicle, the method comprising:

obtaining an instruction indicating an upcoming change in an operating mode of the vehicle, the instruction specifying a set of tasks to be completed by the driver in the vehicle and a task duration associated with each of the set of tasks;

with respect to each of the set of tasks,

determining a warning to be delivered to the user to alert the driver to perform the task;

determining, upon delivering the warning to the driver, whether the driver is executing or has executed the task; and

modifying the warning in response to a determination that the task is not carried out.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the warning for the corresponding task of the set of tasks comprises warning content, at least one media used to deliver the warning content, and a manner by which the warning content is to be delivered to the driver.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the at least one media used to deliver the warning to the driver is determined based on a driver profile, the driver profile including characteristic information relevant to the driver.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the at least one media is selected based on a current state of the driver.

5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the at least one media includes a selectable sound source, a vibration source, a light source, a visual source, and an audio source.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

termination of the upcoming change in the operating mode of the vehicle in response to a determination that the task is not carried out; and

executing an exception handling process.

7 . The method of claim 2 , wherein modifying the warning comprises at least one of adjusting a time duration of the warning, adjusting the intensity of the at least one media type used to warn the driver, and determining additional media to be used to re-deliver the warning to the driver.

8 . A non-transitory computer readable medium having information stored thereon for presenting a warning to a driver of a vehicle, when read by the machine, causes the machine to perform the following:

obtaining an instruction indicating an upcoming change in an operating mode of the vehicle, the instruction specifying a set of tasks to be completed by the driver in the vehicle and a task duration associated with each of the set of tasks;

with respect to each of the set of tasks,

determining a warning to be delivered to the user to alert the driver to perform the task;

determining, upon delivering the warning to the driver, whether the driver is executing or has executed the task; and

modifying the warning in response to a determination that the task is not carried out.

9 . The medium of claim 8 , wherein the warning for the corresponding task of the set of tasks comprises warning content, at least one media used to deliver the warning content, and a manner by which the warning content is to be delivered to the driver.

10 . The medium of claim 9 , wherein the at least one media used to deliver the warning to the driver is determined based on a driver profile, the driver profile including characteristic information relevant to the driver.

11 . The medium of claim 9 , wherein the at least one media is selected based on a current state of the driver.

12 . The medium of claim 9 , wherein the at least one media includes a selectable sound source, a vibration source, a light source, a visual source, and an audio source.

13 . The medium of claim 8 , further comprising:

termination of the upcoming change in the operating mode of the vehicle in response to a determination that the task is not carried out; and

executing an exception handling process.

14 . The medium of claim 9 , wherein modifying the warning comprises at least one of adjusting a time duration of the warning, adjusting the intensity of the at least one media type used to warn the driver, and determining additional media to be used to re-deliver the warning to the driver.

15 . A system for presenting a warning to a driver of a vehicle, the system comprising:

a warning instruction analyzer implemented by a processor and configured to obtain an instruction indicating an upcoming change in an operating mode of the vehicle, the instruction specifying a set of tasks to be completed by the driver in the vehicle and a task duration associated with each of the set of tasks;

a warning determiner implemented by the processor and configured to determine, for each set of tasks, a warning to be delivered to the user to alert the driver to perform the task;

a warning effect monitor implemented by the processor and configured to monitor, upon delivering the warning to the driver, whether the driver is executing or has executed the task; and

a warning modifier implemented by the processor and configured to modify the warning in response to a determination that the task is not carried out.

16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the warning for the corresponding task of the set of tasks comprises warning content, at least one media used to deliver the warning content, and a manner by which the warning content is to be delivered to the driver.

17 . The method of claim 16 , wherein the at least one media is selected based on a current state of the driver.

18 . The system of claim 16 , wherein the at least one media includes a selectable sound source, a vibration source, a light source, a visual source, and an audio source.

19 . The system of claim 15 , further comprising:

termination of the upcoming change in the operating mode of the vehicle in response to a determination that the task is not carried out; and

executing an exception handling process.

20 . The system of claim 16 , wherein modifying the warning comprises at least one of adjusting a time duration of the warning, adjusting the intensity of the at least one media type used to warn the driver, and determining additional media to be used to re-deliver the warning to the driver.
