Abstract

A mobile telecommunications system anchor entity for a mobile telecommunications system is provided. The mobile telecommunications system has at least one entity serving at least one user equipment, wherein the at least one entity and the at least one user equipment are located in a common system information area. The mobile telecommunications system has circuitry, which performs transmitting minimum system information to the at least one user equipment, wherein the minimum system information includes system information area identifier information.

Claims (47)

1. A user equipment for a mobile telecommunications system including at least one entity serving the user equipment, wherein the at least one entity and the user equipment are located in a common system information area that includes other entities, the user equipment comprising circuitry configured to:

receive minimum system information including system information area identifier information;

compare a first unique identifier associated with the minimum system information to a second unique identifier associated with system information stored by the user equipment; and

determine, based on comparing the first unique identifier and the second unique identifier, whether a new system information area is entered, wherein

the circuitry is configured to receive, from the at least one entity, system information that is common with the other entities of the system information area.

2. The user equipment claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is further configured to receive information about entities within the system information area.

3. The user equipment of claim 2 , wherein

the circuitry is further configured to request the information about entities within the system information area.

4. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is further configured to transmit at least one of an uplink reference signal and a measurement report.

5. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein

the minimum system information includes information about entities within the system information area.

6. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to receive, from the at least one entity, information about entities within the system information area on-demand.

7. The user equipment of claim 6 , wherein

the information about entities is transmitted based on at least one of moving speed and moving direction of the user equipment.

8. The user equipment of claim 6 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to receive the minimum system information from each entity in the system information area.

9. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit at least one of an uplink reference signal and measurement report to the at least one entity.

10. The user equipment of claim 9 , wherein the circuitry is configured to receive the minimum system information from the at least one entity in response to the transmission of the at least one of the uplink reference signal and measurement report.

11. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein

the user equipment is in at least one of an idle state, connected state, and inactive state.

12. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to receive, from the at least one entity, system information of other entities located within the system information area.

13. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein

the common system information includes common service system information.

14. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein

the common system information includes common resource related information.

15. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein

the system information area configuration can be changed dynamically.

16. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit an on-demand request to the at least one entity requesting a list of entities within the system information area.

17. The user equipment of claim 16 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to receive, from the at least one entity, information about entities within the system information area in response to the transmitted on-demand request.

18. A method performed by a user equipment for a mobile telecommunications system including at least one entity serving the user equipment, wherein the at least one entity and the user equipment are in a common system information area that includes other entities, the method comprising:

receiving minimum system information including system information area identifier information;

comparing a first unique identifier associated with the minimum system information to a second unique identifier associated with system information stored by the user equipment;

determining, based on comparing the first unique identifier and the second unique identifier, whether a new system information area is entered; and

receiving, from the at least one entity, system information that is common with the other entities of the system information area.

19. Circuitry for a user equipment for a mobile telecommunications system including at least one entity serving the user equipment, wherein the at least one entity and the user equipment are in a common system information area that includes other entities, the circuitry configured to:

receive minimum system information including system information area identifier information;

compare a first unique identifier associated with the minimum system information to a second unique identifier associated with system information stored by the user equipment;

determine, based on comparing the first unique identifier and the second unique identifier, whether a new system information area is entered; and

receive, from the at least one entity, system information that is common with the other entities of the system information area.

20. The user equipment of claim 1 , wherein each of the other entities and the at least one entity manages a cell.
