METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A LOW-PROFILE INTERCRANIAL DEVICE AND THE LOW-PROFILE INTERCRANIAL DEVICE MANUFACTURED THEREBY
A low-profile intercranial device including a low-profile static cranial implant and a functional neurosurgical implant. The low-profile static cranial implant and the functional neurosurgical implant are virtually designed and interdigitated prior to physical assembly of the low-profile intercranial device.

58 . A low-profile intercranial device, comprising:
a low-profile static cranial implant shaped and dimensioned for placement within an intercranial space as defined by a resected portion of a patient's anatomy; and
a cavity formed in the static cranial implant, the cavity being shaped and dimensioned to receive and interdigitate with a functional neurosurgical implant to interlock the low-profile static cranial implant and the functional neurosurgical implant.
59 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 58 , wherein the static cranial implant is a customized static cranial implant that includes an outer convex surface, an inner concave surface, and a peripheral edge shaped and dimensioned for engagement with a skull of a patient upon implantation.
60 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 59 , wherein the outer convex surface and the inner concave surface of the customized static cranial implant are curved in a superior to inferior direction, a posterior to anterior direction, and a medial to lateral direction.
61 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 60 , further including a functional neurosurgical implant.
62 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 61 , wherein the static cranial implant includes structural elements shaped and dimensioned to accommodate the functional neurosurgical implant.
63 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 61 , wherein the static cranial implant includes channels having a first end in communication with the cavity and a second end extending to the outer convex surface of the static cranial implant.
64 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 63 , wherein the static cranial implant is clear and fully lucent.
65 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 58 , wherein the static cranial implant is clear and fully lucent.
66 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 58 , wherein the static cranial implant allows for ultrasound transmission through the static cranial implant.
67 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 58 , wherein the static cranial implant is radiolucent.
68 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 58 , wherein the static cranial implant includes an embedded serial number viewable via CT or MRI scan.
69 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 58 , wherein the static cranial implant includes alignment markings.
70 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 69 , wherein the alignment markings are in a shape of a cross.

The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 69 , wherein the alignment markings include a first alignment marking formed upon the static cranial implant so as to identify a superior to inferior direction of the static cranial implant when properly implanted and a second alignment marking formed upon the static cranial implant so as to identify a posterior to anterior direction of the static cranial implant when properly implanted.
72 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 58 , wherein the static cranial implant includes laser cut lines identifying potential cuts for the low-profile intercranial device.
73 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 58 , wherein the static cranial implant includes laser markings to provide an indication of critical anatomy relating to installation of the low-profile intercranial device.
74 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 58 , wherein the static cranial implant includes a two-piece construction.
75 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 74 , wherein the static cranial implant includes a base cranial implant member and a cover cranial implant member, and the base cranial implant member includes a recess formed along an outer surface so as to define the cavity.
76 . The low-profile intercranial device according to claim 58 , wherein the static cranial implant is a customized static cranial implant and the cavity is formed within the static cranial implant by augmenting, reducing, and/or modifying the static cranial implant to include the cavity for optimal anatomical placement of a functional neurosurgical implant.
