Customization of alerts using telecommunications services
Certain aspects of the disclosure are directed to customization of alerts using telecommunications services. A data-communications server is configured to provide a database with a set of virtual office features including client-specific call routing functions available to remotely-situated client entities based on a subscription. The server is configured to provide to the client entities, a set of instructions written in a first programming language, and to receive from each respective client entity, client-specific sets of control data written in a second programming language. The client-specific sets of control data may specify particular alerts and/or reminders to be provided to end-users of the respective client entity.
1. A data-communications server comprising:
computer processor and communications circuitry to interface and communicate with remotely-situated client entities using a first programming language that is associated with and to be sent via a communications protocol between the server and data sources, the server configured to provide communication services via a Platform as a Service (PaaS) over the Cloud or IP network for a plurality of end-users, each respectively associated with a respective one of the remotely-situated client entities, by routing communications to an endpoint device respectively associated with the end-users;
a call control engine to control virtual office features available to the remotely-situated client entities via the PaaS, and to:
receive, from each respective client entity, client-specific programming instructions corresponding to a second programming language that provides client-specific instructions for use of the call control engine and that is compatible with the first programming language, and the client-specific programming instructions associated with the virtual office features available to the client entity; and
in response to an incoming communication directed to an end-user of the plurality of end-users, provide an alert or other informative communication to the end-user specified in the received communication, based on client-specific sets of control data derived from the programming instructions received from each respective client entity via the communications protocol.
2. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein the call control engine is to provide the alert or other informative communication as being customized or configured for and to the end-users based on the client-specific sets of control data for each respective client entity.
3. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein the programming instructions corresponding to the second programming language are to cause the call control engine to adjust the virtual office features provided to a particular client entity.
4. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein the call control engine is to provide the alert or other informative communication to the end-user in at least one format or type of message, wherein said at least one format or type of message is from among the following: email message, voice message, and short message service (SMS).
5. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein the programming instructions corresponding to the second programming language direct the server to provide the alert or other informative communication in response to certain criteria specified in the programming instructions being satisfied.
6. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein the call control engine is to identify a location of a device associated with the end-user, and to select a format or type of message of the alert or other informative communication based on the location of the device.
7. The data-communications server of claim 6 , wherein the call control engine is to provide the alert or other informative communication to the end-user by voice message in response to a determination that the device associated with the end-user is in a moving vehicle.
8. The data-communications server of claim 6 , wherein the alert or other informative communication is an appointment reminder, and the call control engine is to provide the alert or other informative communication to the end-user by interrupting an in-session call on the device.
9. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein the call control engine is to provide the alert or other informative communication to the end-user in response to satisfaction of criteria specified in the client-specific sets of control data associated with the end-user.
10. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein the call control engine is to provide the alert or other informative communication to the end-user in response to a request from the client entity associated with the end-user.
11. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein the server is to interface with a calendar application for each of the plurality of end-users, and the call control engine is to provide a calendar alert to the end-user inviting the end-user to join a virtual meeting included in the calendar alert.
12. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein the incoming communication is a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) type of communication.
13. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein the call control engine is to select one of multiple ways for how to provide an alert message or other informative communication to the end-user based on the end-user being in a vehicle, and in response to provide the alert message or other informative communication by a voice communication so as to avoid distracting the end-user.
14. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the remotely-situated client entities is configured to have a plurality of different locations, as corresponding franchises or other client-related entities, and the call control engine is to provide and control virtual office features differently for each of the franchises or other client-related entities.
15. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein at least one of the remotely-situated client entities is configured to have a plurality of different locations, and the call control engine is to provide different types and/or different configurations of data-communications services for each of the different locations.
16. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein the call control engine is to provide an adjusted set of features to end-users of the client entities according to client-specific sets of control data received from each respective client-entity via a PBXs or IPBX.
17. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein the call control engine is to:
provide an adjusted set of features to end-users of the client entities according to client-specific sets of control data received from each respective client-entity via PBXs or IPBXs; and
process various ones of the end-users by segmentation among the different PBXs or IPBXs, such that incoming calls are routed to selected ones of the PBXs or IPBXs associated with the respective client entity.
18. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein the PaaS provides a user with access to two or more of the following: telephone call routing control, computer telephony integration (CTI), and data analytics.
19. The data-communications server of claim 1 , wherein the PaaS provides a user with access to services including telephone call routing control, computer telephony integration (CTI), and data analytics which services collectively function via a single unified server.
