Abstract

A method includes identifying, by a processing device based on an electronic model of at least a portion of a building, a plurality of components of a smart window system. Responsive to a first component of the plurality of components being replaced by a new component, the method includes causing the new component to be configured based on one or more of a first physical linking, a first network linking, or an application linking of the first component. The method further includes updating a graphical user interface (GUI) based on the new component that has been configured based on the one or more of the first physical linking, the first network linking, or the application linking of the first component.

Claims (35)

1 . A method comprising:

identifying, by a processing device based on an electronic model of at least a portion of a building, a plurality of components of a smart window system;

responsive to a first component of the plurality of components being replaced by a new component, causing the new component to be configured based on one or more of a first physical linking, a first network linking, or an application linking of the first component; and

updating a graphical user interface (GUI) based on the new component that has been configured based on the one or more of the first physical linking, the first network linking, or the application linking of the first component.

The method of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of components comprises an electrochromic device, a driver configured to control the electrochromic device based on instructions, and a gateway configured to receive the instructions from a cloud computing system remote from the gateway and provide the instructions to the driver.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the first physical linking is associated with a wired connection between the electrochromic device and the driver.

4 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the first network linking is between the driver and the gateway that communicate with each other via a wireless network.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the application linking is associated with two or more electrochromic devices of the plurality of components, and wherein the two or more electrochromic devices are to be controlled together.

6 . The method of claim 5 further comprising, responsive to user input via the GUI, configuring the application linking of the two or more electrochromic devices that are to be controlled together.

7 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:

receiving user input via the GUI; and

performing, based on the user input, troubleshooting of the one or more of the first physical linking, the first network linking, or the application linking of the first component.

8 . A system comprising:

a memory; and

a processing device coupled to the memory, wherein the processing device is to:

identify, based on an electronic model of at least a portion of a building, a plurality of components of a smart window system;

responsive to a first component of the plurality of components being replaced by a new component, cause the new component to be configured based on one or more of a first physical linking, a first network linking, or an application linking of the first component; and

update a graphical user interface (GUI) based on the new component that has been configured based on the one or more of the first physical linking, the first network linking, or the application linking of the first component.

The system of claim 8 , wherein the plurality of components comprises an electrochromic device, a driver configured to control the electrochromic device based on instructions, and a gateway configured to receive the instructions from a cloud computing system remote from the gateway and provide the instructions to the driver.

10 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the first physical linking is associated with a wired connection between the electrochromic device and the driver.

11 . The system of claim 9 , wherein the first network linking is between the driver and the gateway that communicate with each other via a wireless network.

12 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the application linking is associated with two or more electrochromic devices of the plurality of components, and wherein the two or more electrochromic devices are to be controlled together.

13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein responsive to user input via the GUI, the processing device is further to configure the application linking of the two or more electrochromic devices that are to be controlled together.

14 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the processing device is further to:

receive user input via the GUI; and

perform, based on the user input, troubleshooting of the one or more of the first physical linking, the first network linking, or the application linking of the first component.

15 . A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed cause a processing device to perform operations comprising:

identifying, based on an electronic model of at least a portion of a building, a plurality of components of a smart window system;

responsive to a first component of the plurality of components being replaced by a new component, causing the new component to be configured based on one or more of a first physical linking, a first network linking, or an application linking of the first component; and

updating a graphical user interface (GUI) based on the new component that has been configured based on the one or more of the first physical linking, the first network linking, or the application linking of the first component.

The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the plurality of components comprises an electrochromic device, a driver configured to control the electrochromic device based on instructions, and a gateway configured to receive the instructions from a cloud computing system remote from the gateway and provide the instructions to the driver.

17 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein the first physical linking is associated with a wired connection between the electrochromic device and the driver.

18 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein the first network linking is between the driver and the gateway that communicate with each other via a wireless network.

19 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 15 , wherein the application linking is associated with two or more electrochromic devices of the plurality of components, and wherein the two or more electrochromic devices are to be controlled together.

20 . The non-transitory machine-readable storage medium of claim 19 further comprising, responsive to user input via the GUI, configuring the application linking of the two or more electrochromic devices that are to be controlled together.
