Abstract

A computer-implemented method, computer program product and computing system for executing a description model when utilizing a website; detecting a failure associated with the execution of the description model; re-executing the description model one or more times in an attempt to utilize the website; and if a failure is detected one or more times, reporting the failure to a user.

Claims (42)

1. a computer-implemented method, executed on a computing device, comprising:

executing a data description model and a function description model when utilizing a website, wherein the data description model acquires data associated with a particular portion of the website by populating a database with information concerning a product or service on the website, wherein the function description model includes one or more actions that are performable on the website to access the data associated with the particular portion of the website;

determining a failed description model by detecting a failed execution of at least one of the data description model and the function description model during one or more of the acquiring of the data associated with the particular portion of the website and the performance of the one or more actions during accessing of the data from the particular portion from the website;

re-executing the failed description model a predefined number of times in an attempt to utilize the website to acquire data associated with the particular portion of the website; and

in response to detecting a failure after re-executing the failed description model the predefined number of times, reporting the failure to a user and regenerating the failed description model.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the data description model is associated with an ontology that defines acceptable values for the data description model.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the function description model includes an ontology that defines acceptable values for the function description model.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein determining the failed description model includes:

detecting a failure of the website.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein determining the failed description model includes one or more of:

detecting unavailability of the website;

detecting data incongruities with respect to the website;

detecting missing data with respect to the website; and

detecting unacceptable data with respect to the website.

6. A computer program product residing on a non- transitory computer readable medium having a plurality of instructions stored thereon which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:

executing a data description model and a function description model when utilizing a website, wherein the data description model acquires data associated with a particular portion of the website by populating a database with information concerning a product or service on the website, wherein the function description model includes one or more actions that are performable on the website to access the data associated with the particular portion of the website;

determining a failed description model by detecting a failed execution of at least one of the data description model and the function description model during one or more of the acquiring of the data associated with the particular portion of the website and the performance of the one or more actions during accessing of the data from the particular portion from the website;

re-executing the failed description model a predefined number of times in an attempt to utilize the website to acquire data associated with the particular portion of the website; and

in response to detecting a failure after re-executing the failed description model the predefined number of times, reporting the failure to a user and regenerating the failed description model.

7. The computer program product of claim 6 , wherein the data description model is associated with an ontology that defines acceptable values for the data description model.

8. The computer program product of claim 6 , wherein the function description model includes an ontology that defines acceptable values for the function description model.

9. The computer program product of claim 6 , wherein determining the failed description model includes:

detecting a failure of the website.

10. The computer program product of claim 6 , wherein determining the failed description model includes one or more of:

detecting unavailability of the website;

detecting data incongruities with respect to the website;

detecting missing data with respect to the website; and

detecting unacceptable data with respect to the website.

11. A computing system including a processor and memory configured to perform operations comprising:

executing a data description model and a function description model when utilizing a website, wherein the data description model acquires data associated with a particular portion of the website by populating a database with information concerning a product or service on the website, wherein the function description model includes one or more actions that are performable on the website to access the data associated with the particular portion of the website;

determining a failed description model by detecting a failed execution of at least one of the data description model and the function description model during one or more of the acquiring of the data associated with the particular portion of the website and the performance of the one or more actions during accessing of the data from the particular portion from the website;

re-executing the failed description model a predefined number of times in an attempt to utilize the website to acquire data associated with the particular portion of the website; and

in response to detecting a failure after re-executing the failed description model the predefined number of times, reporting the failure to a user and regenerating the failed description model.

12. The computing system of claim 11 , wherein the data description model is associated with an ontology that defines acceptable values for the data description model.

13. The computing system of claim 11 , wherein the function description model includes an ontology that defines acceptable values for the function description model.

14. The computing system of claim 11 , wherein determining the failed description model includes:

detecting a failure of the website.

15. The computing system of claim 11 , wherein determining the failed description model includes one or more of:

detecting unavailability of the website;

detecting data incongruities with respect to the website;

detecting missing data with respect to the website; and

detecting unacceptable data with respect to the website.
