Abstract

Providing mobile electric power comprising a power generation transport configured to convert hydrocarbon fuel to electricity and an inlet and exhaust transport configured to: couple to at least one side of the power generation transport such that the inlet and exhaust transport is not connected to a top side of the power generation transport, provide ventilation air and combustion air to the power generation transport, collect exhaust air from the power generation transport, and filter the exhaust air.

Claims (28)

1 . A system for providing mobile electric power, the system comprising:

a first transport having a gas turbine, an exhaust collector, and an exhaust stack;

a second transport having an inlet plenum and a generator; and

a third transport having an air inlet filter housing,

wherein the first transport, the second transport, and the third transport are separate transports that are independently movable,

wherein, in an operational mode, the second transport and the third transport are configured to be positioned adjacent to each other such that a longitudinal facing side of the second transport faces a longitudinal facing side of the third transport, and

wherein, in the operational mode, the inlet plenum on the second transport is connected to a first outlet port of the air inlet filter housing on the third transport between the longitudinal facing sides of the second and third transports.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein, in the operational mode, the first transport and the second transport are configured to be positioned adjacent to each other such that an end facing side of the first transport faces an end facing side of the second transport, and

wherein, in the operational mode, an air intake of the gas turbine on the first transport is connected to the inlet plenum on the second transport between the end facing sides of the first and second transports.

3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein, in the operational mode, a shaft of the gas turbine on the first transport is connected to the generator on the second transport, and the generator converts mechanical energy supplied from rotation of the shaft to produce electric power.

4 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first transport further has a turbine enclosure for housing the gas turbine,

wherein, in the operational mode, the first transport and the third transport are configured to be positioned adjacent to each other such that a longitudinal facing side of the first transport faces the longitudinal facing side of the third transport, and

wherein, in the operational mode, an inlet of the turbine enclosure on the first transport is connected to a second outlet port of the air inlet filter housing on the third transport between the longitudinal facing sides of the first and third transports.

5 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the third transport comprises a hydraulic walking system for positioning the longitudinal facing side of the third transport at a predetermined distance and orientation relative to the longitudinal facing side of the first transport and relative to the longitudinal facing side of the second transport, such that the first outlet port of the air inlet filter housing communicates with the inlet plenum and the second outlet port of the air inlet filter housing communicates with the turbine enclosure inlet.

6 . The system of claim 4 , further comprising at least one connection being configured to interconnect at least one of the inlet plenum and the turbine enclosure inlet with at least one of the first outlet port and the second outlet port between the longitudinal facing sides of the second and third transports, and the longitudinal facing sides of the first and third transports, respectively.

7 . The system of claim 6 , further comprising first hydraulics disposed with the at least one connection, wherein the at least one connection is movable from the at least one of the inlet plenum and the turbine enclosure inlet to the third transport using the first hydraulics to connect to the at least one of the first and second outlet ports.

8 . The system of claim 1 , further comprising a fourth transport that is separately and independently movable relative to the first, second, and third transports, wherein the fourth transport is an auxiliary gas turbine generator transport that is configured to generate electric power to at least one of start the gas turbine disposed on the first transport, and provide ancillary power where peak electric power demand exceeds an electric power output of the generator disposed on the second transport.

9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the electric power generated by the auxiliary gas turbine generator transport is in a range of 1-8 megawatts.

10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the electric power generated by the generator disposed on the second transport is in a range of 15-35 megawatts.

11 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the first, second and third transports are configured to be positioned such that the longitudinal facing side of the first transport is positioned parallel along a length of the third transport and the longitudinal facing side of the second transport is positioned parallel along the length of the third transport.

12 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the third transport further comprises at least one expansion joint configured to:

connect to at least one of the first and second transports in the operational mode without being supported by a mechanical apparatus external to the first, second, and third transports; and

disconnect from the at least one of the first and second transports to allow the first, second and third transports to move independently relative to each other in a transportation mode.

13 . The system of claim 12 , further comprising second hydraulics disposed with the at least one expansion joint and configured to move the at least one expansion joint.

14 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the exhaust stack has an exhaust passage, and the exhaust stack is configured to be movable between a first position and a second position, the exhaust stack in the first position being lowered on the first transport, and the exhaust stack in the second position being raised on the first transport and pointing the exhaust passage vertically,

wherein at least a part of the exhaust stack is configured to be positioned above an air intake of the gas turbine when in the second position.

15 . The system of claim 14 , further comprising a hinge and third hydraulics permitting rotation between the first and second positions, the exhaust stack in the first position being horizontal on the first transport.

16 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the second transport further comprises a generator breaker and a control system that, during operation, communicates with a control center via a network.
