Abstract

A bag including a shell defining a sidewall, an upper portion, a rim, an opening, a front, a back, and a lower portion, wherein the opening is configured to allow access to a storage compartment, a semi-rigid base defining a bottom of the bag, wherein the shell and the semi-rigid base form the storage compartment, and a first internal divider panel attached to the sidewall and configured to transition from a first position to a second position, wherein the first position is a stowed configuration and the second position is in an extended configuration, a second internal divider panel attached to the sidewall opposite the first internal divider panel and configured to transition from the first position to the second position, wherein the first internal divider panel and the second internal divider panel are flush with the sidewall in the first position.

Claims (38)

1 . A bag comprising:

a shell defining a sidewall, a rim, an opening, an upper portion and a lower portion, the upper portion defining an upper circumference of the bag, the lower portion defining a lower circumference of the bag, wherein the opening is configured to allow access to a storage compartment;

a plurality of carry straps;

a semi-rigid base defining a bottom of the bag, wherein the shell and the semi-rigid base form the storage compartment;

a first internal divider panel attached to the sidewall and configured to transition from a first position to a second position, wherein the first position is a stowed configuration and the second position is in an extended configuration, wherein the first internal divider panel further comprises a pull tab positioned at an upper portion of the first internal divider panel;

a second internal divider panel attached to the sidewall and configured to transition from the first position to the second position, wherein the second internal divider panel further comprises a pull tab positioned at an upper portion of the second internal divider panel;

at least one inner pocket comprising a zipper attached to the sidewall, wherein a side from the first internal divider panel and a side from the second internal divider panel form two sides of the at least one inner pocket;

a top binding configured to surround the rim and a top of the inner pocket attached to the upper portion of the sidewall, wherein the first internal divider panel pull tab and the second internal divider panel pull tab are positioned below the top binding when the first internal divider panel and the second internal divider panel are in the first position; and

a top material extending underneath and below the top binding and configured to surround the upper portion of an interior of the shell, wherein the first internal divider panel further comprises a first internal divider panel reinforcement layer along a top border of the first internal divider panel, wherein the second internal divider panel further comprises a second internal divider panel reinforcement layer along a top border of the second internal divider panel, and wherein the first internal divider panel reinforcement layer and the second internal divider panel reinforcement layer are seated beneath a lower portion of the top material when the first internal divider panel and the second internal divider panel are in the first position.

2 . The bag of claim 1 , wherein the two sides of the at least one inner pocket comprise welds.

3 . The bag of claim 1 , wherein the first internal divider panel is positioned opposite the second internal divider panel.

4 . The bag of claim 1 , wherein the first internal divider panel and the second internal divider panel are flush with the sidewall in the first position.

5 . The bag of claim 1 , further comprising a second inner pocket attached to an upper portion of the sidewall and positioned opposite the at least one inner pocket.

6 . The bag of claim 1 , wherein the bag further comprises a closure device.

7 . The bag of claim 6 , wherein a portion of the closure device is positioned under the top binding.

8 . The bag of claim 7 , wherein the closure device comprises a clasp configured to engage a loop of material positioned opposite the clasp.

9 . The bag of claim 1 , wherein the pull tab comprises a ridge positioned on a top border of the pull tab.

10 . The bag of claim 1 , wherein the shell further comprises a bottom material configured to wrap around a bottom perimeter of the shell and a portion of the semi-rigid base.

11 . A bag comprising:

a shell defining a sidewall, a rim, an opening, an upper portion and a lower portion, the upper portion defining an upper circumference of the bag, the lower portion defining a lower circumference of the bag, wherein the opening is configured to allow access to a storage compartment;

a pair of upper straps;

a pair of lower straps engaged with the pair of upper straps;

a semi-rigid base defining a bottom of the bag, wherein the shell and the semi-rigid base form the storage compartment, and the semi-rigid base is configured to maintain the bag upright;

a top binding configured to surround the rim;

a top material extending underneath and below the top binding and configured to surround an upper portion of an interior of the shell; and

an insert affixed to the storage compartment, the insert further comprising:

a first internal divider panel attached to the sidewall and configured to transition from a first position to a second position, wherein the first position is a stowed configuration and the second position is in an extended configuration, and wherein the first internal divider panel further comprises a pull tab positioned at an upper portion of the first internal divider panel,

a second internal divider panel attached to the sidewall opposite the first internal divider panel and configured to transition from the first position to the second position, and wherein the second internal divider panel further comprises a pull tab positioned at an upper portion of the second internal divider panel, wherein a side from the first internal divider panel and a side from the second internal divider panel form seams of an inner pocket comprising a zipper, wherein the first internal divider panel pull tab and the second internal divider panel pull tab are flush with the sidewall and positioned below the top binding when the first internal divider panel and the second internal divider panel are in the first position, wherein the first internal divider panel further comprises a first internal divider panel reinforcement layer along a top border of the first internal divider panel, wherein the second internal divider panel further comprises a second internal divider panel reinforcement layer along a top border of the second internal divider panel, and wherein the first internal divider panel reinforcement layer and the second internal divider panel reinforcement layer are seated beneath a lower portion of the top material when the first internal divider panel and the second internal divider panel are in the first position.

12 . The bag of claim 11 , wherein the reinforcement layer along the top border of the first internal divider panel and the second internal divider panel comprises a fold along the top border of the first internal divider panel and the second internal divider panel.

13 . The bag of claim 11 , wherein the pair of upper straps are configured as shoulder carry straps and the pair of lower straps are configured as hand carry straps.

14 . A bag comprising:

a shell defining a sidewall, a rim, an opening, an upper portion, and a lower portion, the upper portion defining an upper circumference of the bag, the lower portion defining a lower circumference of the bag, wherein the opening is configured to allow access to a storage compartment;

a top binding configured to surround the rim;

a top material extending underneath and below the top binding and configured to surround an upper portion of an interior of the shell;

a plurality of carry straps;

a semi-rigid base defining a bottom of the bag, wherein the shell and the semi-rigid base form the storage compartment, and the semi-rigid base is configured to maintain the bag upright;

a first internal divider panel attached to the sidewall and configured to transition from a first position to a second position, wherein the first position is a stowed configuration and the second position is in an extended configuration, wherein the first internal divider panel further comprises a pull tab positioned at an upper portion of the first internal divider panel, and wherein the first internal divider panel further comprises a first internal divider panel reinforcement layer along a top border of the first internal divider panel; and

a second internal divider panel attached to the sidewall opposite the first internal divider panel and configured to transition from the first position to the second position, wherein the first internal divider panel and the second internal divider panel are flush with the sidewall in the first position, wherein the second internal divider panel further comprises a pull tab positioned at an upper portion of the second internal divider panel, wherein the second internal divider panel further comprises a second internal divider panel reinforcement layer along a top border of the second internal divider panel, wherein the first internal divider panel reinforcement layer and the second internal divider panel reinforcement layer are seated beneath a lower portion of the top material when the first internal divider panel and the second internal divider panel are in the first position.
