Abstract

Aspects of the present invention relate to providing assistance to medical professionals during the performance of medical procedures through the use of technologies facilitated through a head-worn computer.

Claims (61)

1. A method of visualizing a human body, the method comprising:

transmitting, via a light source of a wearable head device, first non-visible light toward a first portion of the body, the first non-visible light comprising a first wavelength, the first portion of the body having a first reflectivity with respect to the first wavelength;

detecting, via a sensor of the wearable head device, at least a portion of first reflected light, the first reflected light reflected via the first portion of the body in response to the first portion of the body receiving the first non-visible light;

determining a second reflectivity of a second portion of the body with respect to a second wavelength of light, the second reflectivity greater than the first reflectivity;

transmitting, via the wearable head device, second non-visible light toward the second portion of the body, the second non-visible light comprising the second wavelength;

detecting, via the wearable head device, at least a portion of second reflected light, the second reflected light reflected via the second portion of the body in response to the second portion of the body receiving the second non-visible light;

determining first image information based on the first reflected light;

determining second image information based on the second reflected light;

presenting, via a see-through display of the wearable head device, a view of the body;

concurrently with presenting the view of the body, presenting at least a portion of the first image information via the see-through display, wherein the presentation of the first image information is aligned on the display with a portion of the view of the body corresponding to the first portion of the body; and

concurrently with presenting the view of the body and concurrently with presenting the portion of the first image information, presenting at least a portion of the second image information via the see-through display, wherein the presentation of the portion of the second image information is aligned on the display with a portion of the view of the body corresponding to the second portion of the body.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the view of the body does not comprise the first portion of the body.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the view of the body does not comprise the second portion of the body.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first portion of the body comprises an external portion of the body and the second portion of the body comprises an internal portion of the body.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising identifying a presence of a foreign object in the body based on the concurrent presentation of the first image information, the second image information, and the view of the body.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising performing a surgical procedure based on the concurrent presentation of the first image information, the second image information, and the view of the body.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining, based on an output of a sensor of the wearable head device, an identity of the body;

retrieving, based on the identity, medical data associated with the identity; and

presenting the medical data via the see-through display, concurrently with presenting the first image information, the second image information, and the view of the body.

8. A system comprising:

a wearable head device comprising a light source and a sensor; and

one or more processors configured to perform a method comprising:

transmitting, via the light source of the wearable head device, first non-visible light toward a first portion of a human body, the first non-visible light comprising a first wavelength, the first portion of the body having a first reflectivity with respect to the first wavelength;

detecting, via the sensor of the wearable head device, at least a portion of first reflected light, the first reflected light reflected via the first portion of the body in response to the first portion of the body receiving the first non-visible light;

determining a second reflectivity of a second portion of the body with respect to a second wavelength of light, the second reflectivity greater than the first reflectivity;

transmitting, via the wearable head device, second non-visible light toward the second portion of the body, the second non-visible light comprising the second wavelength;

detecting, via the wearable head device, at least a portion of second reflected light, the second reflected light reflected via the second portion of the body in response to the second portion of the body receiving the second non-visible light;

determining first image information based on the first reflected light;

determining second image information based on the second reflected light;

presenting, via a see-through display of the wearable head device, a view of the body;

concurrently with presenting the view of the body, presenting at least a portion of the first image information via the see-through display, wherein the presentation of the first image information is aligned on the display with a portion of the view of the body corresponding to the first portion of the body; and

concurrently with presenting the view of the body and concurrently with presenting the portion of the first image information, presenting at least a portion of the second image information via the see-through display, wherein the presentation of the portion of the second image information is aligned on the display with a portion of the view of the body corresponding to the second portion of the body.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein the view of the body does not comprise the first portion of the body.

10. The system of claim 8 , wherein the view of the body does not comprise the second portion of the body.

11. The system of claim 8 , wherein the first portion of the body comprises an external portion of the body and the second portion of the body comprises an internal portion of the body.

12. The system of claim 8 , the method further comprising identifying a presence of a foreign object in the body based on the concurrent presentation of the first image information, the second image information, and the view of the body.

13. The system of claim 8 , the method further comprising performing a surgical procedure based on the concurrent presentation of the first image information, the second image information, and the view of the body.

14. The system of claim 8 , the method further comprising:

determining, based on an output of a sensor of the wearable head device, an identity of the body;

retrieving, based on the identity, medical data associated with the identity; and

presenting the medical data via the see-through display, concurrently with presenting the first image information, the second image information, and the view of the body.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform a method comprising:

transmitting, via a light source of a wearable head device, first non-visible light toward a first portion of a human body, the first non-visible light comprising a first wavelength, the first portion of the body having a first reflectivity with respect to the first wavelength;

detecting, via a sensor of the wearable head device, at least a portion of first reflected light, the first reflected light reflected via the first portion of the body in response to the first portion of the body receiving the first non-visible light;

determining a second reflectivity of a second portion of the body with respect to a second wavelength of light, the second reflectivity greater than the first reflectivity;

transmitting, via the wearable head device, second non-visible light toward the second portion of the body, the second non-visible light comprising the second wavelength;

detecting, via the wearable head device, at least a portion of second reflected light, the second reflected light reflected via the second portion of the body in response to the second portion of the body receiving the second non-visible light;

determining first image information based on the first reflected light;

determining second image information based on the second reflected light;

presenting, via a see-through display of the wearable head device, a view of the body;

concurrently with presenting the view of the body, presenting at least a portion of the first image information via the see-through display, wherein the presentation of the first image information is aligned on the display with a portion of the view of the body corresponding to the first portion of the body; and

concurrently with presenting the view of the body and concurrently with presenting the portion of the first image information, presenting at least a portion of the second image information via the see-through display, wherein the presentation of the portion of the second image information is aligned on the display with a portion of the view of the body corresponding to the second portion of the body.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the view of the body does not comprise the first portion of the body.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , wherein the first portion of the body comprises an external portion of the body and the second portion of the body comprises an internal portion of the body.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , the method further comprising identifying a presence of a foreign object in the body based on the concurrent presentation of the first image information, the second image information, and the view of the body.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , the method further comprising performing a surgical procedure based on the concurrent presentation of the first image information, the second image information, and the view of the body.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15 , the method further comprising:

determining, based on an output of a sensor of the wearable head device, an identity of the body;

retrieving, based on the identity, medical data associated with the identity; and

presenting the medical data via the see-through display, concurrently with presenting the first image information, the second image information, and the view of the body.
