Abstract

A system, method, and computer-readable medium are disclosed for performing a data center monitoring and management operation. The data center monitoring and management operation includes: identifying data center asset data to monitor; collecting data center asset data; and, performing an adaptive update scheduling operation, the adaptive update scheduling operation adaptively adjusting a prioritization and frequency of data center asset data collection to provide adapted data center asset data.

Claims (52)

1. A computer-implementable method for performing a data center monitoring and management operation, comprising:

identifying data center asset data to monitor, the data center asset data being generated by a particular data center asset as a result of use of the data center asset data within a data center;

collecting the data center asset data; and,

performing an adaptive update scheduling operation, the adaptive update scheduling operation adaptively adjusting a prioritization and frequency of data center asset data collection to provide adapted data center asset data, the adaptive update scheduling operation giving the particular data center asset priority over other data center assets.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

uploading the adapted data center asset data to an asset data analysis system.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein:

the adaptive update scheduling operation generates an adaptive update schedule; and,

the adapted data center asset data is uploaded to the asset data analysis system based upon the adaptive update schedule.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

analyzing information associated with a particular data center asset to determine different kinds of information the particular data center asset can provide.

5. The method of claim 4 , wherein:

the different kinds of information include at least one of a data center asset type, a data center asset status, a data center change history, a data center telemetry capability and a data center asset value.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein:

the data center asset data includes an associated data center asset data type, the associated data center asset data type comprising at least one of a health data center asset data type, a performance data center asset data type, a metrics data center asset data type, a components data center asset data type and an inventory data center asset data type.

7. A system comprising:

a processor;

a data bus coupled to the processor; and

a non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium embodying computer program code, the non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium being coupled to the data bus, the computer program code interacting with a plurality of computer operations and comprising instructions executable by the processor and configured for:

identifying data center asset data to monitor, the data center asset data being generated by a particular data center asset as a result of use of the data center asset data within a data center;

collecting the data center asset data; and,

performing an adaptive update scheduling operation, the adaptive update scheduling operation adaptively adjusting a prioritization and frequency of data center asset data collection to provide adapted data center asset data, the adaptive update scheduling operation giving the particular data center asset priority over other data center assets.

8. The system of claim 7 , wherein the instructions executable by the processor are further configured for:

uploading the adapted data center asset data to an asset data analysis system.

9. The system of claim 8 , wherein:

the adaptive update scheduling operation generates an adaptive update schedule; and,

the adapted data center asset data is uploaded to the asset data analysis system based upon the adaptive update schedule.

10. The system of claim 7 , wherein the instructions executable by the processor are further configured for:

analyzing information associated with a particular data center asset to determine different kinds of information the particular data center asset can provide.

11. The system of claim 10 , wherein:

the different kinds of information include at least one of a data center asset type, a data center asset status, a data center change history, a data center telemetry capability and a data center asset value.

12. The system of claim 11 , wherein the instructions executable by the processor are further configured for:

the data center asset data includes an associated data center asset data type, the associated data center asset data type comprising at least one of a health data center asset data type, a performance data center asset data type, a metrics data center asset data type, a components data center asset data type and an inventory data center asset data type.

13. A non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium embodying computer program code, the computer program code comprising computer executable instructions configured for:

identifying data center asset data to monitor, the data center asset data being generated by a particular data center asset as a result of use of the data center asset data within a data center;

collecting the data center asset data; and,

performing an adaptive update scheduling operation, the adaptive update scheduling operation adaptively adjusting a prioritization and frequency of data center asset data collection to provide adapted data center asset data, the adaptive update scheduling operation giving the particular data center asset priority over other data center assets.

14. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the computer executable instructions are further configured for:

uploading the adapted data center asset data to an asset data analysis system.

15. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein:

the adaptive update scheduling operation generates an adaptive update schedule; and,

the adapted data center asset data is uploaded to the asset data analysis system based upon the adaptive update schedule.

16. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 14 , wherein the computer executable instructions are further configured for:

analyzing information associated with a particular data center asset to determine different kinds of information the particular data center asset can provide.

17. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 16 , wherein:

the different kinds of information include at least one of a data center asset type, a data center asset status, a data center change history, a data center telemetry capability and a data center asset value.

18. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 17 , wherein:

the data center asset data includes an associated data center asset data type, the associated data center asset data type comprising at least one of a health data center asset data type, a performance data center asset data type, a metrics data center asset data type, a components data center asset data type and an inventory data center asset data type.

19. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein:

the computer executable instructions are deployable to a client system from a server system at a remote location.

20. The non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein:

the computer executable instructions are provided by a service provider to a user on an on-demand basis.
