Abstract

An electronic gaming machine includes a monitor configured to display an electronic game, a cabinet, and a mounting assembly removably coupling the monitor to the cabinet. The mounting assembly includes a carriage moveably coupled to the cabinet, a frame coupled to the monitor for supporting the monitor on the carriage, and a bearing assembly rotatably coupling the frame to the carriage. The bearing assembly includes an arcuately extending guide track and a sliding connector moveably engaged with the guide track, wherein movement of the sliding connector along the guide track causes the monitor to rotate relative to the cabinet.

Claims (32)

1. An electronic gaming machine comprising:

a monitor configured to display an electronic game;

a cabinet; and

a mounting assembly removably coupling the monitor to the cabinet, the mounting assembly comprising:

a carriage moveably coupled to the cabinet;

a frame coupled to the monitor for supporting the monitor on the carriage; and

a bearing assembly including an arcuately extending guide track, a central ring, and a sliding connector, the sliding connector including at least one roller extending radially outward from the central ring and moveably engaged with the guide track, the at least one roller rotatably coupling the frame to the carriage, wherein movement of the sliding connector along the guide track causes the monitor to rotate relative to the cabinet.

2. The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the carriage includes the guide track and the sliding connector is attached to the frame.

3. The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the bearing assembly is configured to rotate the frame approximately 90 degrees relative to the carriage between a portrait orientation and a landscape orientation.

The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the mounting assembly further comprises a linkage assembly pivotably coupled to the carriage and the cabinet, the linkage assembly operable to move the carriage relative to the cabinet between a first position, in which the monitor is operable to display the electronic game, and a second position, in which the monitor is spaced from the cabinet.

The electronic gaming machine of claim 4 , wherein, when the monitor is in the first position, rotation of the monitor relative to the carriage is prevented, and wherein, when the monitor is in the second position, at least a portion of the linkage assembly extends outward from the cabinet and the monitor is free to rotate relative to the carriage.

The electronic gaming machine of claim 4 , wherein the cabinet defines a longitudinal axis and the linkage assembly comprises a first link and a second link, the first link and second link each being pivotably coupled to the carriage and the cabinet, and wherein, when the monitor is in the second position, the first and second links are each oriented at an obtuse angle relative to the longitudinal axis.

7. The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the central ring is attached to the frame and the at least one roller includes a plurality of rollers extending radially outward from the central ring.

8. The electronic gaming machine of claim 7 , wherein the carriage defines a circular central opening and the central ring is received within the central opening, and wherein a circumferential outer surface of the central ring is spaced from the guide track to define a radial gap therebetween.

9. The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the carriage is slidably coupled to the cabinet and configured to be moved relative to the cabinet.

The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein frame includes an end rail and a flange extending from the end rail and the monitor includes a mount bar configured to fasten to the flange, the end rail including a plurality of roller elements for guiding the mount bar between the flange and the end rail.

The electronic gaming machine of claim 1 , wherein the mounting assembly further comprises a drive mechanism and a harness extending from the drive mechanism to the carriage, the drive mechanism operable to move the carriage relative to the cabinet between a first position, in which the monitor is operable to display the electronic game, and a second position, in which the monitor is spaced from the cabinet.

12. A mounting assembly configured to removably couple a monitor to a cabinet of an electronic gaming machine, the mounting assembly comprising:

a carriage configured to couple the monitor to the cabinet;

a frame for supporting the monitor on the carriage; and

a bearing assembly including an arcuately extending guide track, a central ring, and a sliding connector, the sliding connector including at least one roller extending radially outward from the central ring and moveably engaged with the guide track, the at least one roller rotatably coupling the frame to the carriage, wherein movement of the sliding connector along the guide track causes the frame to rotate relative to the carriage.

13. The mounting assembly of claim 12 , wherein the carriage includes the guide track and the sliding connector is attached to the frame.

14. The mounting assembly of claim 12 , wherein the bearing assembly is configured to rotate the frame approximately 90 degrees relative to the carriage between a portrait orientation and a landscape orientation.

The mounting assembly of claim 12 , wherein the mounting assembly further comprises a linkage assembly pivotably coupled to the carriage and configured to pivotably couple to the cabinet, the linkage assembly being operable to move the frame relative to the cabinet between a first position, in which the monitor is operable to display a wagering game, and a second position, in which the frame is spaced from the cabinet.

The mounting assembly of claim 15 , wherein the cabinet defines a longitudinal axis and the linkage assembly comprises a first link and a second link, the first link and second link each being pivotably coupled to the carriage and the cabinet, and wherein, when the monitor is in the second position, the first and second links are each oriented at an obtuse angle relative to the longitudinal axis.

17. The mounting assembly of claim 12 , wherein the central ring is attached to the frame and the at least one roller includes a plurality of rollers extending radially outward from the central ring.

18. The mounting assembly of claim 17 , wherein the carriage defines a circular central opening and the central ring is received within the central opening, and wherein a circumferential outer surface of the central ring is spaced from the guide track to define a radial gap therebetween.

19. An electronic gaming machine comprising:

a monitor configured to display a wagering game;

a cabinet;

a carriage moveably coupled to the cabinet, the carriage including an arcuately extending guide track and defining an opening extending through the carriage; and

a rotatable frame removably coupled to the monitor for supporting the monitor on the carriage, the rotatable frame including a central ring and a sliding connector including at least one roller extending radially outward from the central ring and rotatably coupling the rotatable frame to the carriage, the at least one roller extending within the opening of the carriage and moveably engaged with the guide track, wherein movement of the sliding connector along the guide track causes the monitor to rotate relative to the cabinet.
